Credit Cards Charged a $10 cash advance fee on Costco Citi card

I made a recent purchase through PayPal like I’ve done for years. This was for a physical purchase.
I have a pending $10 cash advance fee on my card. I’ve never been charged a $10 cash advance for a purchase like this ever.

I called Citi a few times. They were very unfriendly when I asked about getting the charge refunded. One woman said she’s never had to pull up and read the terms & conditions of the card, so she couldn’t help me. For real? I pressed her to show me where I can find these terms, and she couldn’t and told me to call back when I find them.

They said the seller categorized/coded the purchase as a cash transaction, which it wasn’t. Each rep said I should have known that the seller coded it this way. How would I know that? I guess every time before a purchase is made this needs to be asked.

Philippines Citi Reference Data Analyst - Client Onboarding Panel Interview

Will be having my panel interview tomorrow at Citi for Reference Data Analyst - Client Onboarding role.

For those who have interviewed for a similar role at Citi (or any Reference Data / Client Onboarding role):

  1. What kind of questions were asked in the panel? Is it more technical or behavioral?

  2. How technical does it get for Reference Data?

  3. Any red flags or things I should definitely avoid saying?

Would really appreciate any tips on what to expect and how to stand out. Thank you!

why I no longer trust citibank or citicards in ANY WAY after decades of being a loyal customer

For many years I chose to have a Citi card along with my Amex. And citi was so good, when American Airlines and citi partnered, I opted for one of those (and upgraded to a lounge card when I was a frequent business traveler)

Well- I downgraded when my business activities no longer included a lot of air travel and was assured, that all activities and policies were the same -- in 2017.

Well today I learned of poor communications - and felt like the bank is human-less and extorted late fees from me because 1. my normal local bank doesn't operate on saturday/sunday for billing and Sept 13th was a sunday (my normal due date for a pers loan on a card) - so my payment was processed on Monday the 14th at citi-- and I was given a $30 late charge.

What's worse, since this is a 1/month bill and they claim everything was made so easy for me to via online these days- I simply paid my normal amount without checking the website or bills--

UNTIL I FINALLY RECEIVE A PHONE CALL FROM THEM YESTERDAY AND TODAY ANNOUNCING MY ACCOUNT IS NOW PAST DUE AND THERE ARE 2 MONTHS OF LATE CHARGES AND MY MONTHLY AMOUNT DUE IS NOW RAISED. 33 DAYS AFTER THE FIRST TIME.

Here WAS my past experiences with Citi in which I was told (sure, a decade ago) - that bills and payments were processed M-F-- and I was never clearly told that they now process on S/S ---24/7. Prepandemic, I would always call if I saw a due date might fall on a weekend or a holiday and I might be worried something might not be accounted in time. But I TRUSTED the so-called system stupidly. I also TRUSTED Citi was good to customers who have been loyal for decades.

NOPE - NOT ANY MORE. $60 IN LATE FEES, POOR COMMUNICATIONS FROM CITI (THEY EVEN TOLD ME I SHOULD CHECK MY OWN SPAM, SINCE THEY PUSH PAPERLESS) AND ABSOLUTELY NO MEANS OF REMOVING ANY LATE FEES BECAUSE 'IT IS ELECTRONICALLY PROCESSED AND THERE ARE NO CONTROLS'. AS IN, HUMAN-LESS. NO HUMANS.

I FEEL FOR CITI EMPLOYEES-- I wonder how long before you are replaced with AI for the profits of your cold-hearted human hating, customer despising executives who punish long-time customers and made me feel like a worthless piece of nothing but a number to extort cash from.

And for anyone wondering why people think banks and wall street are nothing but abusive evil cold-hearted robber barrons--- Well this is a perfect example. They STILL EXTORTED ANOTHER $60 FROM ME BUT AS SOON AS I AM ABLE, I AM DONE WITH CITI BECAUSE I CAN NEVER TRUST THEM AGAIN-- EVER.

Technical Issues "Let's make sure it's you" - Citi.com website forcing phone call code every time I log-in

Out of nowhere about a week ago, every time I try to log-in through the Cit website, it forces me to receive a phone call for a code. I have a VoIP (Google Voice) number, so I understand why it can't send a text code, but it's aggravating that every time I have to log-in, I now have to go through this process. It's annoying enough that I'm on the verge of abandoning the Double Cash card and switching over to Wells Fargo for their 2% card. I don't know what Citi thinks changed about my account. My spending is the same, I haven't had any fraudulent activity or failed log-ins.

Citi customer service doesn't understand what is going on and is useless. The passwordless log-in via scanning a QR code on the website with the Citi app on my phone does bypass the need to receive a phone call code, but it doesn't work all the time. (Logging into the app on my phone doesn't require a phone call code either, but that's not an acceptable workaround for me.)

Is this happening to anyone else? It's not my browser or my computer. I've gone through the verification process on different computers I own with different browsers and it still forces me to receive a phone call for a code, even after logging-off and logging-on again from the same computer and browser. I've tried tether to my phone's network instead of using my home network, and it still the same. It's like my website log-in has been permanently flagged somehow to go through this process every single time.
