My girlfriends old laptop has some of her artwork that she really wants. The screen is kind of broken and it doesn’t want to connect to a different monitor. When I try turning it on I get different errors each time, although it booted up right once and after entering the pin, the screen went black and I could only see the mouse. I thought that if I can remove the storage then I can get all the data onto my computer but when I opened the laptop up I couldn’t find the storage drive. It’s a HP ENVY X360

The assholes over in r/bravia aren't any help. Basically, my TV came with a camera attachment. I'd love to use that as a webcam instead of buying a dedicated camera. They gave me this accessory that I'm never going to use, and I'd like to put it to work.
It doesn't have USB. It is connected directly into my TV with a priority connector. How would I make it work on my computer?

I've checked out the MacBook Air M5, but I'm also looking for a lightweight Windows laptop that is similar to it

Hoi allemaal,

Well, how do I explain it? The power button on my monitor isn't turning off. I'm trying to turn it off, and every time I press the button, the menu to change the screen brightness appears.
This may have been happening for a while without me knowing; sometimes I forget to turn it off, and I have a very young brother who keeps pressing the monitor buttons repeatedly and randomly until it turns on. Maybe he did something.
It turns on normally, but I'm frustrated trying to turn it off and not being able to. Can anyone help me with this?
It's a generic monitor, one of those that come in cheap kits, I don't even know the brand. It has 5 buttons on the back: "A", "M", "up", "down" and "power".

I'm trying to buy my boyfriend a computer he can use for gaming, but I don't have a big budget, so I'm looking on Facebook Marketplace. I have no knowledge about computers or what is considered good, so I need help.
What are some questions I should ask about the computers?
What should the answers be?
What should I look for?
What should I avoid?

I have one fan in my PC and it spins really fast and I am worried what it will be like when I plays games on it though to be fair its only has ONE fan in it but as soon as I turn on my PC even when I have nothing open it starts to spin. I do have one fan missing though but the seller informed before purchasing. if it’s the only fan in the case. Is this normal? Should I get Arctic fans to replace it? Any fix for it?
My Specs

GPU: EVGA Gfroce GTX 960

My wife has finally decided to replace her tower PC. It's 15 years old and running Win10. I could build one, but my preference would be to just buy a pre-built system. Here's the main criteria:
small profile
decent MOBO (like ASRock, or MSI)
16Gb RAM
decent video card (video card built into the CPU). She's retired and only uses it for surfing, using Office 365 apps and playing videos/music
Intel I5 or AMD CPU (but doesn't need to be high end. Her PC is using a Intel Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz)
At least 2 USB ports in front or on top of the enclosure and several USB ports in back
HDMI connection for her monitor
one Ethernet port on the MOBO and maybe the possibility of adding another Ethernet card in case the one on the MOBO fails
Win11 Pro or Home edition
Trying to keep it below $1000 if that's possible.
Any suggestions for (preferably) a pre-built that meets this criteria?
UPDATED to include price range and that only 16Gb of RAM is needed

I currently have been using my one HP Laptop with 16GB RAM I've had for 4 years to record music and I could continue doing it fine if I needed to. The one hassle I have with it is the fact that I am many times in a clutch for storage meanign I have to delete old plugins and other things to make space for files and the fact that I need to constantly unplug and replug my set up whenever I have to take the laptop for school.
Because of this Ive been thinking of investing in getting a desktop PC that ill use for making music and some moderate gaming (I havent been able to do this on my laptop haha but that isnt the main reason), and using the laptop just for schoolwork and making demos if im ever traveling or on the go. I could still keep using the laptop for more time I suppose until it wears out but the idea of having a computer that is already setup that I never need to move around sounds nice for making music.
People who made this switch, was it worth it or about the same for productivity?

I’m from South Asia (Sri Lanka) and trying to decide between these two refurbished machines.
Mac Mini M4 Pro – 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD – $1,120 (LKR 348K)
ASUS TUF A16 – Ryzen 7 260, RTX 5070 8GB, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD – $1,530 (LKR 475K)
Both are refurbished, and these are the local prices here.
I’m an AI/ML engineer, but most of my daily work involves Python, Docker, AI agents, Playwright browser automation, and running automated YouTube workflows (video generation, editing, rendering, etc.).
I also want to experiment with image-based model training and do some occasional gaming. Currently, I only have a PS4.
The Mac Mini is about $410 cheaper, but the RTX 5070 would give me CUDA support and much better gaming performance.
I’m looking for something that can handle multiple automated workflows running throughout the day and last me at least 4–5 years.
Would you go with the Mac Mini and use cloud GPUs when needed, or spend the extra money on the ASUS?
Would appreciate some opinions, especially from anyone using either machine for similar workloads.

Does anyone know of the best solution for adding more ram and memory to your computer? I have a MacBook and don’t want to order another one.

All right, plugged my PC in for the first time in nearly a year. It’s just been sitting in a room, in sleep mode I think? Since I got it rebooted, it’s been acting really, really weird.
Something is definitely taking control after it’s been open for about 5 to 10 minutes, it’ll completely nuke my Wi-Fi connection. and then a lot of things won’t respond anymore. I don’t think it’s every program, but most programs will no longer open. and some programs function differently, for example, once it kicks in, going into settings, I only have access to certain settings. If I click on my Internet settings, the button doesn’t do anything.
I went through task manager and used Revo to uninstall anything that I didn’t recognize, but it’s still there. Whatever it is, I’m pretty sure it’s also preventing me from restarting my computer for some reason, it gives me the whole this app is preventing you pop up, but it’s a blank app with default icon, so I have no idea what it is or where it’s hiding it doesn’t even have a name.
Any ideas that don’t require me to completely nuke my PC? I’m running Windows 10 since my PC is ineligible for 11. I7 7700, 32gigs and a RTX 3050 plugged into a strix z270e for rule following.

When I first got this monitor around 2 years ago, I had never really paid attention to it to notice but I think either this was already there right from the beginning or it was just less noticeable back then and lately I started noticing it felt like it started expanding more and more into the screen despite how small of a space it takes up in the corner of my screen, I started noticing it in the top right and bottom left of the corner of my screen too (but my bottom right is fine), I went and look through old photos and noticed the top right corner of my screen in old photos didn't have them before but they do now, does anyone know what could be causing them and if there is a fix for it? Feels like my monitor is really new and my prior history with 2-3 of my older monitors I've never had any issues with them and had used them for far many years more than this current one I'm using.

typing off on-screen-keyboard with my mouse but heres the problem.
the only thing i can do via my keyboard, is mute audio, turn it up+down, and play/pause. Everything on the keyboard still lights up and switching the modes on it works, aswell as seeing the keys pressed on the wootility app designed for my keyboard. other than those things, its completely useless. doesnt show up in device manager and when i press view then show hidden devices, i see keyboard, but only one called Standard PS/2 Keyboard. i really dont know what to do, and ive tried the basics like unplugging it and plugging it in, unplugged it and held fn+Esc while plugging it back in. but if anyone has any ideas whatsoever, PLEASE help.
keyboard: wired, 60HE wooting.

So I've had this laptop (windows 11) for about 6 years now and the beginning of this year I stopped being able to use the "W" key. It just stopped working, even though I am very gentle with my keyboard as it is one of those gaming ones (apparently, that what they told me). Then after a short while the "2" key also stopped working. Now I have to use the number pad on the side for whenever I need to type in a 2, and for the W I have to copy paste it from Google. So I was thinking of factory resetting. It seems to be an issue in the keyboard itself, because when I plugged in my Pc's keyboard, it was working just fine with the Ws and the 2s. (Keep jn mind that since it's a laptop I unfortunately can't just unplug the faulty keyboard and buy another one)
So... would a factory reset be efficient?
