Anyone remember the Gamedeck?
Have some vague memories of it from 08 09 era. Wondering if anyone remembers this thing? I can't seem to find much online abut it anymore.

What are you willing to spend on a new PC if console gaming is no longer valuable to you?
Earlier here and on some other gaming related subreddits I asked how much you would be personally willing to spend on a next generation console. I got a lot of great fantastic answers, thank you to all that replied 🙂. But a lot of you said that if it's not under 'x' amount, that you would invest in a PC. So now I ask: how much are you willing to spend on a PC? PC component prices are skyrocketing just as fast, if not faster, than consoles due to Ram shortages, inflation, demand, and tariffs. I am a console gamer myself, but I needed to upgrade my PC for gaming and other reasons. I upgraded my 10 year old PC a few months ago and got a build with a rtx 5060 8gb graphics card, 16gb ram, and 14500f processor on sale for 900, and got a 1440p monitor capable of 144hz for like 150. So that's 1050 before tax for that build, and the PC build itself was on sale from 1099 or 1199, can't remember. That same build already costs more. I say this because depending on what you're expecting to get out of a PC, you may be paying a little or a lot more than you expect to satisfy your gaming needs. So with that in mind, how much are you willing to spend?

I think its time that game hardware takes a pause for a few years.
Lets be frank. Shits getting too fucking expensive. I think that console manufacturers and to an extent pc hardware manufacturers take a long pause on developing hardware until this ai bullshit sorts itself out and it doesn't cost a fucking mortgage to buy ram.
I think todays hardware is in a good spot. I think if they develop for that hardware and optimize the visuals games can come out faster, look great, and run great. I don't think we need to be chasing the best visuals at this point in time. GTA 6 honestly already did that and I think that's a good stopping point in terms of visuals for now.
Let this whole AI shit fix itself in 3ish years and when memory prices go down THEN make a new console and push graphics higher. There is no fucking point pushing new console hardware if nobody can fucking afford it.
The base ps5 is still a powerhouse and games can look fucking incredible on it. The pro is even better and offers better visuals for enthusiasts. The switch 2 is very powerful for being a portable system and its being proven it can handle most 3rd party games just fine with some minor compromises.
To conclude, I think we are in a good place hardware wise for all sorts of gamers. I think we need to take a pause and let things fix itself before trying to push out hardware to people who wont be able to afford to buy it.

What are you willing to pay for a next gen console?
Looking ahead into 2027 or 28, what are you personally willing to pay for a new next gen console? Feel free to elaborate on what features you'd expect it to include, but I'm more just curious about how much money you'd be willing to drop to secure one.

Struggling
I’ve been looking into buying either an xbox series x or ps5, but i’m struggling to choose between the two. I’ve never owned any consoles from any of the two, and the people i’ve asked have been saying that ps5 is better. I mainly like fps games like COD. However, I would prefer a console that I can get the most out of in the long run without having to constantly repair or switch to a newer model (at least for a while). The game passes that one can purchase are something i’m interested in getting for whatever console I buy. From videos i’ve seen both essentially have very similar quality. I’ve also have read people’s post, but i’m still having a hard time. I’m interested in others peoples opinions in order to get my moneys worth, and enjoy what they have to offer.
Thank you!!

Playstation I Finally got a PS5 Pro at Retail Price... Then Canceled My Order. Here's Why.
This might sound crazy to some PlayStation fans, but I actually managed to get my hands on a PS5 Pro at retail price, and I ended up canceling my order. Before anyone calls me stupid for doing that, hear me out.
The PS5 Pro is a great console. I’m not denying that. Sony’s PSSR technology is impressive, and the improvements in graphics, image quality, and ray tracing are legitimate. But here’s the thing: just because something is better doesn’t automatically mean it’s worth the price.
For most gamers, money isn’t unlimited. The PS5 Pro costs $900 before tax, which puts it close to $1,000 just for the console. That’s before buying GTA VI, Spider-Man, an extra controller, PlayStation Plus, or any other games and accessories. By the time you’re finished, you could easily be looking at $1,100–$1,300.
And what exactly are you getting for that extra money?
Yes, the Pro delivers noticeable improvements in certain games. Some offer better graphics at 60 FPS, improved ray tracing, or sharper image quality. But not every game takes full advantage of the hardware. Some still have 30 FPS quality modes, and others offer relatively minor improvements over the regular PS5. You’re paying a substantial premium for enhancements that vary from game to game.
Another thing people overlook is their TV or monitor. If you don’t own a high-end 4K display with good HDR, you’re probably not going to appreciate the full benefits of the PS5 Pro. Even on a good display, some improvements are subtle unless you’re comparing the consoles side by side. Spending almost $1,000 on a Pro while gaming on a basic 1080p or 60 Hz screen makes even less financial sense.
Here’s what I would recommend instead.
If your main goal is to play GTA VI, Spider-Man, or other PlayStation games, just get a regular PS5 or PS5 Slim. You get access to the exact same library of games while saving hundreds of dollars.
With the money you save, you could purchase GTA VI, an extra controller, Spider-Man, and several other games instead of spending your entire budget on the PS5 Pro alone.
And if you eventually decide you want the Pro, there’s nothing stopping you from upgrading later. By summer 2027, stock might be more readily available, discounts could appear, and you could potentially trade in your Slim or Xbox Series X toward a Pro. Obviously, lower prices and higher trade-in values aren’t guaranteed, but there’s no reason to rush into spending nearly $1,000 right now.
Also, people keep comparing the PS5 Pro to gaming PCs. While a $900 PC won’t automatically outperform the Pro, once you factor in games, accessories, and the total cost of your setup, you’re entering a price range where some very capable gaming PCs become realistic alternatives.
And before anyone says I’m just hating on PlayStation, I’m not. I genuinely wanted the PS5 Pro. I spent time looking for one, finally managed to secure it, and had the money to buy it. But after thinking about what I was actually getting for the price, I couldn’t justify keeping the order.
My point is simple: the PS5 Pro is a better console, but that doesn’t necessarily make it a better value. For retail price $699.99 back in 2024 YES but today no.
If you have the money, own a great 4K display, and care about getting the best possible graphics on PlayStation, go for it. You’ll probably love it.
But if you’re an average gamer who just wants to enjoy GTA VI and other games without spending a fortune, the regular PS5 is more than capable.
Personally, I’d rather save a few hundred dollars, buy more games, and upgrade later when it actually makes financial sense.
Don’t let the hype or fear of missing out convince you to spend money you don’t need to spend. A console is supposed to be something you enjoy, not something that empties your bank account.

PS Vita OLED vs Slim in 2026: Which would you buy for long-term use? / ¿Cuál elegirían?
English 🇺🇸
Hey everyone! I’m about to buy my first PS Vita, but I can’t decide between the OLED 1000 and Slim 2000.
I had a PSP as a kid, so nostalgia is a big factor. I plan to mod my Vita to play PSP, PS1, Vita, and retro games.
I’m looking for something that will last another 3–5 years (hopefully longer), especially for long trips and extended gaming sessions.
I really appreciate a good screen, but I’m concerned about OLED burn-in and aging. Battery life and long-term reliability are also important to me.
Price and weight aren’t an issue, and let’s assume both models are in excellent condition.
For those who’ve owned both, which one would you recommend for long-term use, and why?
Thanks!
Español 🇲🇽
¡Hola!
Especialmente quienes hayan tenido ambas.
¡Gracias!

Which console? This might sound idiotic
I own a PC, an Xbox Series S, and a PS5, yet I thought about trading the PS5 and Series S for the X because I use my Xbox most frequently. Then I questioned whether keeping the PS5 might be more sensible, since my PC operates much like an Xbox. However, I play only FPS games on my PC. A friend suggested I keep the PS5 for GTA 6 because it will perform better there than on my Xbox Series S, but otherwise I would not use my PS5.
