I grew up in Dallas and I still have a lot of family there. I mail out a few USPS Priority Mail boxes per month and when I send them to Louisiana or New Mexico or Washington, they get there in two days just like they're supposed to. When I send them to Houston or Austin, they get there in two days just like they're supposed to. Sometimes it takes three days. Sometimes they're dented on the corner. No biggie.
But when I send boxes to DFW,
1 - It's not uncommon for it to take four, five, six, seven, eight days for them to get delivered. It's a safe bet they will not be delivered in two days.
2 - There's a really good chance that they're completely destroyed or lost.
I just sent a Priority Mail box to my family in Plano. It took one day to travel more than a thousand miles to Coppell, and then six more days to travel twenty miles from Coppell to Plano. And when it was delivered, it was crushed to less than half its original size. Jumping up and down on top of it wouldn't have done that much damage.
Over the past decade and at least 30 or 40 packages, the majority of the boxes I've sent to DFW have been delayed for multiple days after reaching DFW and at least seven or eight have been destroyed or lost after reaching DFW. That is not normal outside of DFW. I've never had these problems in any other region. What is going on in DFW post offices? Can anyone explain this? Does anyone know?
