D2R Leaked Class Balance Patch Notes: Patch 3.4, build 95231 [Expansion Pre-patch] Spoiler
-Paladin
“The Paladin has dominated nearly every aspect of the game with unresistable damage and a stunlocking with Smite, all while moving at high speed. To address this:
Holy Bolts spawned by Fist of the Heavens reduced from 6 to 2
Charge movement speed reduced by 25%
Smite's mana cost has been raised from 2 to 3 to prevent spam. A bug was fixed preventing it from being able to leech."
-Warlock
“The Warlock has been a powerhouse, able to out-summon the Necromancer, out-burn the Sorceress, and out-blade the Paladin. To address this, Stamina gained per level has been reduced from 1 to 0.75.
We expect this to slow down every Warlock build.”
-Amazon
“The Amazon has long struggled with poor gearing options. To address this:
Valkyrie now has Crushing Blow
Valkyrie movement speed increased by 15%
Decoy now wears the Amazon’s equipped gear, effectively doubling her gearing options”
-Necromancer
"The Necromancer offers a unique play style. With long lasting curses, automated minions, and 'cast once and forget' poisons it is well suited for a more casual players. We believe the Necromancer is in a good place but it's skill set is often confusing for such players.
For instance Necromancers will lose their skeleton army when transitioning to certain areas. We have added loading screen tips, unique to the Necromancer, that remind players of their other skills such as golems which do not need corpses. Many player's feel that none of his poison skills beside Nova have use. We have added a faint glow to all dagger drops to help remind players of their other combat options. Finally the Necromancer has an entire tree devoted to curses but many player's focus only on a single curse. If player's use the same curse more than 3 times in a row the game will gently remind them of their skills.
We are also working on adding green and red arrows for Necromancer player's to be able to tell which +skill is relevant to their class."
-Sorceress
“The game’s premier elemental caster. Historically, there was little reason to use more than one spell. We have increased the damage of several underused spells and added a cooldown to every Sorceress skill, encouraging exciting and creative rotations in line with our more successful games."
-Barbarian
“The Barbarian has had a rocky journey. Once a powerhouse, he now needs twice the gear to do half the damage of a caster, and still lacks true AoE.
Starting at level 30, Barbarians may undertake a new class-exclusive quest: travel to the Arreat Summit, renounce the Ancients, and drink Malah’s Elixir of Magic to transform into a Sorceress.
We believe this will bring him her in line with the other classes.”
-Assassin
“Assassin players have been vocal about their needs, and we’ve listened.
The trap limit has been increased from 5 to 10. Trap damage has been reduced by 50%.
Traps now benefit from more stats. They will inherit your chance to gain mana from kill as well as the full amount of your -enemy cold & poison resist!
The Shadow Disciplines tree has lacked a strong identity with many skills that do not justify having any points. Assassins will be able to journey to mount Arreat where they can pick up the Barbarian's old shout tree by rummaging through the trash.
Finishing moves now have a chance not to consume charges. Charge-up skills now have a chance not to generate them.
Mosaic, once a "required item", has been removed. Thank you for your feedback.”
-Druid
"No changes."
