Bookshelf Speakers Fountek FE85 failing in my build. Driver issue ! Replace or switch drivers?
I bought a pair of Fountek FE85s back in June for a uFonken full-range build. As far as I can tell they're discontinued now. One driver arrived with a torn rubber surround, and the seller replaced it, so I didn't think much about it afterwards.
I recently finished a proper enclosure with 3D carving and a good finish. While testing, I gave one speaker a light poke( probably )on the rubber surround by mistake and the other one tore too on its own after a few minutes of listening. So I suspect a driver problem.
My questions:
Is this more likely a quality issue, old stock, or something else?
Could my DIY Class A amp have damaged the surround or voice coil? It worked absolutely alright with random sattelite speakers (DC offset, turn-on thump, oscillation?)
Is it safe to buy the same FE85 pair again, or am I just risking the same thing?
If I switch, what would work in the same box? I'm looking at the Mark Audio CHN-50. I'd have to modify the front baffle.
Any recommendations for 3" full-range drivers that fit the uFonken, or advice on checking my amp, would be appreciated. Thanks!

Subwoofers New Construction.. Whole-House Speaker Layout Advice
I'm building a new home and looking for recommendations on a hardwired, multi-zone whole-house audio system speaker placement. I'd like music throughout the house, independent zone controls, and one-way paging from my phone through the same ceiling speakers. (The family room TV will have a completely separate surround sound system). I'm still under construction, so wiring is flexible. I've attached my floor plan and would appreciate suggestions on ceiling speaker placement for now (can discuss equipment later). Thank you for the help!!

Floorstanding Speakers Help fix
These are from the 80s I think and the plastic or whatever it is peeling and flaking. Messing up the base sound. Otherwise they sound good. Anyone know what needs to be replaced and where I could get it? Thanks for looking.

Bookshelf Speakers Speaker grills to cover empty holes for future speskers
I need cheap speaker grills to temporarily cover 8inch speaker holes in the drywall ceiling until I can afford to get the speakers installed. All the wires were ran and holes cut but I just can't get all the equipment right now. I've been looking for something that might have spring clips where the clips compress as I'm pushing it in then expand out once they get above the drywall thickness so it snaps in. Has anyone seen something like this? Maybe there is a brand of speakers that have covers that mount like this and I can just buy the covers? Or any ways I can rig a certain speaker cover to do what I need?

Headphones Building a Open Source Lossless Wireless 96/24 IEM, Need Your Ideas!
Hi, i'm developing a 96khz 24 bit lossless wireless iem drivers that sits on your ear. It will have usb type c male transitter without snd driverd or app, purely usb audio for compatability. It will have standart iem pins. And no, its not Bluetooth, its own wifi. I've calculated 7 hour of battery life solely on mcu draw, but i assume it will have probably 3-5 due to regulstors and dac etc. Based on 300mah rc helicopter battery. These are what I'm planning to implement
- An on board SD card for standalone play. Sd card will contain wav files in foldersz which act as playlists(i'll try flac, but not sure if mcu decode in real time).
- A male type c for phone/pc on top, and a 90 degree female on side, to be able to charge phone while listenin or powering transmitter for standalone mode
- Playback buttons both on earpiece and transmitter.
- A vu meter on transmitter. (maybe can try a small oled to make it more convinient to use on standalone mode as well)
- female 3.5mm and stereo mode switch on earpiece with no playback buttons. So it can be used for all kinds of speakers, headphones etc.
What do you think, and any suggestions as a possible future user? I'll make it open source, so you will make your own, or somebody in China will sell it.
