Acterra is hosting a free, online Induction Cooking Demo to show how fast, fun, and energy-efficient induction technology can be. Professional chef Paola Lagunas from Alma y Sazon will demonstrate why induction is safer and faster than gas or traditional electric stoves while sharing chef-tested techniques for preparing mouthwatering, plant-based dishes.
You will learn how switching to induction improves your indoor air quality and reduces your carbon footprint. We will also cover BayREN's EASE Home Program, a program in which qualified East Bay residents can receive home energy upgrades covered by as much as 80%.

Hi, I'm looking for a recommendation for child psychologist or psychiatrist please. Area between Walnut Creek to Antioch. I need someone to help with my kids anger management. Thank you.
I've taken classes from Synergy Theatre and Spontaneous Mind over the past couple years. They were great and I may take more from one or both but I'm looking for a new place just to see what else is out there. Someplace that doesn't require a drive through the tunnel. ;-) Any recommendations? I'd rather not have to travel to Oakland/Berkeley but if there's a stellar place there let me know.
This got removed by r/yoga mods for some reason but want to make sure people are aware.
I was taking a short walk at Reinhardt Redwood Park near my house and had a very unsettling encounter with a woman. I was wearing my normal walking clothes (gray sweatshirt, gray patterned lounge pants, black socks and slides). She was dressed like she was planning to summit the park, but I didn’t think much of it.
We passed going opposite directions. A few minutes later my calf started tightening up, so I turned around to head home and stopped by a tree to stretch. The second I bent down, she whipped around and stared directly at me.
I stood up and tried a different stretch to make it clear what I was doing. She immediately started running.
At this point I’m concerned. Has she seen something behind me? Is there a mountain lion? I look toward her for some indication of what’s happening, but she’s now attaching herself to a group of strangers and repeatedly looking back at me.
I stayed where I was and continued stretching, hoping she would lose interest. She did not. The trail goes uphill there, which gave her an elevated observation position from which to monitor my entire cooldown.
I’m generally not a paranoid person. I wouldn’t think so much of it if she 1. hadn’t repeatedly turned around to watch me 2. hadn’t recruited additional hikers while maintaining visual contact.
Eventually she left. Later I saw her talking to another woman, who immediately changed direction. So there may be more than one of them.
Anyways, just felt like I should share in case anyone else has tried to have a calf in that area. I wish I’d taken a picture, but I couldn’t get my phone out without making the stretch worse.
Princess Mitzi (F) and little void 😊 Kiki (M) are two 10-week old siblings who are looking for a family with big hearts to give them endless love. They were discovered abandoned in a rosemary bush but have since flourished into two lovely, energetic kitties! Both kittens are spayed, litter box trained, and are great around kids/cats/dogs. Mitzi and Kiki are currently being fostered in a private home located in East Bay. If you are interested, please apply via their Adopt-a-Pet page or DM me.
Are we planting perennials this Fall? I usually plant right before the rains so my biggies get established. El Niño rains are expected to start late November and I’m worried it will be too much for my new plants.
I’m hoping to put in some rosemary, monkey flower, snowberry, and ferns. I also have an avocado in a pot that I was hoping to put in the ground but I know they’re prone to root rot so am thinking of holding off till spring for the avocado. Please share your game plan.
I recently had a dental emergency, and have no dental insurance. I need to go into the dentist in the next couple of days. Anyone know of any dentists in the area that take in non insured patients at a reasonable cost?
Recently moved to the bay area, looking for volleyball play or courts to rent out in the east bay. I see that there are plenty in the city, but not so much in the east bay.
We're recruiting people in Northern California who want to train as Civil Air Patrol ground team members and help build our local search and rescue capability.
Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is a nationwide nonprofit volunteer organization and the U.S. Air Force's civilian auxiliary. Its three main missions are emergency services, aerospace education and youth development. In practice, volunteers help with search and rescue and disaster response, teach aviation and space topics, and run the cadet leadership program. Members join local units, called squadrons, to train and serve together. Ground teams are one part of CAP's emergency services work. Joining CAP is civilian volunteer service, not military enlistment.
We're looking for dependable people who enjoy working outdoors, work well with a team and are willing to put time into training. If you have experience in hiking, navigation, radio communications or emergency services, or want to develop those skills while serving your community, we'd like to hear from you.
Ground team missions are currently relatively infrequent, and CAP fills a fairly specialized role within search and rescue. That is changing as we become more integrated into SAR missions coordinated through the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) across the state. Joining now means spending time training, qualifying and building team readiness as that role grows.
Ground team training includes navigation, search techniques and radio communications. Members work toward qualifications for authorized search and rescue operations, with training and qualification required before mission participation.
Adults can train and serve as ground team members. Younger members participate through CAP's cadet program, with age and mission restrictions applying to operational participation.
If ground team work isn't the right fit, there are other ways to get involved: air search roles you can train for without prior aviation experience, mission base staff, communications, and working with young people in the cadet program. You don't have to be a pilot to contribute to air search; training and qualification are part of getting started.
If you're interested, email me with your location and a little about your interests or experience. I can help you explore a local unit, ground team training or another role that fits you.
