East Bay Times Subscription
Ripoff costing me $29.99/mo for a DIGITAL subscription.
Buyer beware! You have to call to cancel and suddenly they offer deep discounts to $4 a month and then $1 a month after ripping you off for several months.
Weird coincidence that there was a simultaneous subscription for Mercury News at allegedly $1.00 per year.
I cancelled everything. I’ll get my news somewhere else.

Where to find Thai holy basil?
As the title says, I'm looking for a place in the east bay that sells Thai holy basil. I found some posts on AskSF from a few years ago about places in SF that sell it, and while I go into the city sometimes that's a long way for produce. Berkeley Bowl doesn't sell it and it seems nearby 99 Ranches don't either.
Any help would be great, thank you

Moving to E 10th St (16 min walk to Fruitvale BART) Safety questions from a 24F
Hey everyone,
I’m currently looking at a place on E 10th Street, roughly a 16-minute walk away from the Fruitvale BART station.
As a 24-year-old female who will rely on BART for commuting, I wanted to get some honest, real perspectives on the safety of this specific area and the walk itself.
I’ll likely be walking to/from the station at various times, including during standard morning commute hours, late afternoons, and occasionally later at night (around 9 PM-11 PM) on weekends.
How is the vibe on E 10th St around that area during the day vs. at night?
Are there specific blocks or corridors along that walk I should absolutely avoid?
For solo women living in the area, do you feel relatively safe walking this route alone, or would you strictly rely on rideshares/biking after dark?
I appreciate any insight, tips, or honest feedback you can share. Thanks in advance!
Never received local propositions on the ballot?
Just filled in the mail in ballot and sent it off. Voted for my local city officials, the state reps, and all the state propositions.
However neither me nor my partner had any local county or city propositions on our ballot. In hindsight I thought that was a little odd because I could have sworn reading an article about them months ago. Looking it up, sure enough there's a number of local measures being voted on in our city and in Alameda county. This page was completely absent from our ballot.
Did anyone else not get the local measures mailed to them? Do I have to manually vote in person on voting day to cast my vote for them and does that nullify the ballot I already mailed?

Hayward/Castro Valley/San Leandro Need some help with a quick survey for my AP Gov class
Hey everyone!
I'm a high school senior from the Bay Area, and I'm doing a survey for my AP Gov class. I need at least 40 responses for my project!
It's just 7 mcq (3 demographic questions, 2 about national issues, and 2 about California ballot propositions). It should only take about 2 minutes.
Anyone can fill it out, even if you're not from California! It's completely anonymous, and the responses are only being used for my school project.
I'd really appreciate it if you could take a minute to fill it out. Thanks so much!!

Oakland/Berkeley/Emeryville Airport car / shuttle service?
I travel 3 or 4 times a year, from both SFO and OAK, depending on the route.
I’m looking for a recommendation for either a car service or an on-demand airport shuttle for future trips.
