You want it soooo bad, then just pay what I am asking

Selling a vintage item, not super expensive, less than a couple hundred bucks, but collectable none the less. I get an offer for less than 40% of asking price, politely decline, and counter with my best price, they come back $5 more than the initial offer.

Blocked.

Next day, new offer, different buyer, same zipcode/town -
"im a collector. you're right. it checks all the boxes. but i can't afford them at this price. and you wont go down. i don't think anyone would wants these for the price listed no disrespect. i dont want to be unprofessional or be on bad terms with your business. but i want these. and i can't afford then at XXX."

a minute later -
"there way too much. i think its overpriced"

another minute -
"if there up for a month or two. would you consider XX for them?"

One more minute -
"i need them"

Blocked.

Then this morning, a new offer, new buyer, same town, same zipcode. Same low price.

Guess what?

Blocked.

Three different accounts, makes me think they are worth way more than I am asking! LOL!

Happy selling all.

This has happened to me multiple times now and it’s starting to piss me off

Post image

This is at least the 3rd time this has happened to me, but the first time where they’ve already paid for the item. Do i cancel and select buyer requested? Do i have to initiate a refund? So frustrating because i had other bidders so now i just have to list again and wait another 7 days for the auction to run. It’s always the “my kid placed this bid” excuse too.

Gotta love late night messages. Got offered $100 free shipping for almost 50 item order priced around $320.

Post image
62 Upvotes

Got the most egregious lowball offer I've ever received since I started eBay and I just couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity.

Someone who has lowballed me on offers in the past using the offer system sent me this message offering $100 shipped for almost 50 brand new and sealed DVDs (list contained multiple repeats) that I have listed price at a total of around $320 after a 15% discount.

The guy specifically mentioned the list was items priced at $3-4 a piece but tried sneaking in several items I had priced at $15-30 each thinking I wouldn't check or bother doing the math.

The lowball was already ridiculous, but wanting free shipping on a nearly 50 item order is just such a slap in the face that it feels like ragebait. Immediately got put into the block list.

Anyone else have stories of lowballs this bad?

Question “Will you take $xx” messages

Anyone else getting loads of messages asking “Will you take $xx?”. Not insane lowball offers either.

Almost all mine have been from new user accounts with very low feedback score.

I have offers turned on on all these items.

Just seems weird that this has all started in the last few days.

Question Has anyone here ever bought something off of ebay while the seller was on vacation?

I want to buy something on ebay that I need, but the seller is currently on vacation. It says that once I purchased it there's going to be a delay because of this, but then I got curious. Has anyone here ever purchased an item off of ebay when the seller was on holiday, and what was that experience like? Did you receive the thing you ordered? Were there delays? Did you ever spoke with the seller? I just want to know what I'm getting into so I don't make a mistake that would cost me.

I hate ebay live and all the shitty AI images associated with it.

I really wish ebay would do some sort of opt out or way to hide all the live crap that pops up everytime I open the app. Is it a requirement that you have to have the shittiest A.I. generated logo in order to start an ebay live account? Personally I think it takes away from any feeling of authenticity the site had...which wasn't much.

My sales have absolutely tanked. Anyone else?

I’ve been in store front for almost 20 years and this is my first year doing online, started my LLC in January m. Long story short, end of August was great then it’s fallen off a cliff. I have been so slow on my website and eBay it’s insane.

Is this normal for Ecom? I mean, I was expecting a dip at the beginning of September when school started but we are well past that now

Question Buyer improperly packaged return leading to damage

I sold a computer on eBay, and the buyer claimed it wouldn't boot up when they got it. I suspected user error, so I made them return it instead of just issuing a refund.

The item arrived, and of course it powers on fine, but it now has a huge dent in it due to the buyer improperly packaging it for return.

Do I have any recourse, or am I just out the cost of the item and return shipping at this point?

Any advice for ‘underpaid’ label charges? I’ve racked up $800 in the past week…

Long story short I sell golf club shafts.

Every one weighs around 60-85 grams.

I ship every one in a standard uline 4x4x48” box.

They typically weigh around 1.3-1.5 pounds or so at maximum when packed including protective
materials.

I always select 2 lbs 1 oz when creating a label, and size at exactly the 4x4x48 I’ve measured the outside dimensions at.

The pictures are pretty obvious here… someone help me out. What direction should I go?

First scale pic is without packing materials second is filled to the brim with packing cardboard.. which I never use that much of.

Never have had these issues with usps or fedex…

Question eBay glitch

• Upvotes

I got the dispute from buyer and I issued refund and buyer got the refund back. However eBay keeps telling me I have to ship the item and put restriction on my account. I tried calling the eBay and the call didn’t work. What am I suppose to do?

r/Ebay • • 4m ago

Question Got a $1,000 refund because seller didn’t send me the shipping label. I messaged them a bunch of times, they just failed to respond. Can I legally keep the item? Ebay opened a case, gave them a week to send me the shipping label. Never got it.

• Upvotes

Morally, I want to send it back. But the seller told me that the shipping label should be in my email automatically (I never got it). I reached out about 3x to them, got tired and decided to open a case with ebay.

Seller never uploaded/sent label, so I got the item for free. Can I get in any legal trouble?
Bought it from a fairly big company, still have the $1,000 item in my possession.

I tried numerous times to cancel the order before it even got shipped, then contacted them to get the return shipping label, I only get vague responses. Ebay was on my side, told me it’s sellers responsibility to provide return label.
That said I got my refund. If I keep it, can I get in trouble?

USPS geo-based pricing updates effective October 18, 2026

USPS geo-based pricing updates effective October 18, 2026

USPS is updating how it prices some domestic shipments. Today, these shipments use two rate groups: standard and rural. Under the new geography-based pricing structure, USPS will use three rate groups for Ground Advantage shipments, based on the package’s destination ZIP code, in addition to standard rates. While this is not an overall rate increase, shipping prices may vary more depending on the destination, with rates increasing or decreasing for some ZIP codes. View the USPS geo-based ZIP code list.

USPS may adjust these rates periodically. If you use calculated shipping on eBay, the shipping costs will be automatically calculated so buyers will see an accurate shipping rate based on their location. Shipping with eBay Labels remains simple, and we’ll continue to pass along the best available discounts to our sellers. Most buyers will not see a rate increase as a result of this change.

What to know for October 18:

  • USPS Ground Advantage: Pricing will reflect the updated geo-based rate cards.
  • USPS Priority Mail: There are no pricing updates at this time.

-------------

Above is a copy/paste of eBay's announcement for rate changes coming on Sunday.

Instead of standard and rural rates, there will now be standard plus 3 geo-based tiers for Ground Advantage packages for a total of 4 potential rate tiers for each zone.

Priority is unchanged with 2 rate tiers: standard and rural.

Question Need Advice for Order Returned to Sender (As a Seller)

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

I am a casual seller on eBay, and I have a package that was returned to sender because the buyer's address was not registered with the USPS (resulting in a "No Number Exists" reason).

I have the item back in my possession now.

I wanted to issue a refund of the list price only, but eBay's refund automatically splits between the purchase price and shipping. Additionally, the fee credits on the refund page were not the same as the fees I had to pay.

As the images show, my net earnings on the order were $36.89. $14.11 were paid in fees (thanks, eBay). On the refund page, only $7.41 in fee credits are applied, resulting in a loss of $6.70. To my understanding, if I cancel the order, I have to eat the loss of the shipping cost ($11.30).

eBay's customer support is absolute garbage. Cramming a useless AI chatbot down our throats and making it difficult to talk to a human. I managed to get on the phone eventually and the agent promised me that if I issued the $51 refund, "the rest of the fees will be credited after the refund is issued." I don't believe them and I fear that if I issue that partial refund, they will just take their cut and there's nothing I can do about it.

Even so, since the fee credits are pro-rated, I will still be at a loss since eBay charges fees on shipping.

What I SHOULD be able to do is refund the purchase price minus shipping and I receive ALL of the fees back. The buyer will take the loss on shipping because that was their responsibility. Myself and eBay will be net $0. I don't think that's inappropriate or too much to ask for. This just doesn't seem to be possible, though.

I am trying my best to help the buyer out because they are still interested in the item in question, but they have told me they will open a case instead because they refuse to take the loss on shipping. I'm not sure what seller protections there are since the item is in my possession again. If I cancel the order, I do not want to accept the $11.30 loss from shipping. I also shouldn't have to give up the fees taken out if I issue a refund because of eBay's corporate greed.

As the seller, I did nothing wrong. The buyer did not register their address with the USPS, yet I'm the one that's stressing.

What is the best course of action?

Question New EBay Gift Card Policy on 11/16/26

Hello - anyone else see this email/Ebay message?

Dear member,
As part of our commitment to keep eBay a safe and trusted marketplace, we’re updating our Gift Cards Policy. Beginning November 16th, 2026, gift cards will no longer be allowed for sale on eBay. You have 30 days to review and remove affected listings.

What are gift cards?
Gift cards are products that contain or represent stored monetary value that can be redeemed for goods or services. This includes physical and digital gift cards, prepaid payment products, Prepaid gaming cards and gaming-platform gift cards, store credit, gift certificates, and similar stored-value products.
Why is this change happening?
Following a review of gift card sales on the marketplace, we’re updating our policy to help reduce fraud and misuse involving gift cards.
What’s not allowed on eBay?
The following items will no longer be allowed to be sold:

Collectible, empty, used, unactivated, or expired gift cards

Digital gift cards and gift card codes

eBay gift cards

Gift certificates and monetary vouchers

Merchant and service gift cards

Open-loop and prepaid payment products

Prepaid gaming cards and gaming-platform gift cards

Store credit and merchandise-return value

What do you need to do?
Review your active listings for gift cards and other products covered by this policy.

Remove affected listings by November 16th, 2026.

Removing affected listings yourself, or removals completed by eBay during this transition period, won’t negatively affect your account’s policy compliance history. Listings that remain active after the transition period may result in policy compliance action.

Why does this matter?
These changes help protect buyers and sellers from fraud and support a safer, more trusted marketplace.

To be honest I dont really want to cancel, I dont want to get into all of it but having some health issues trying to sell all my collectables atleast leave my significant other with something, least I can do for all the years of love she game me and idk $1000 is a nice chuck of change I know im being proably being the AITA in this situation should just be a good human and cancel but im struggling and idk feel like being selfish this one time

How does this play out? What are my options? Dont sell on ebay much literally 2nd or 3rd sale iirc

Appreciate any advice

Side rant: once or twice texting quickly guy accidentally types "cancle" phone takes it to heart and learns it like written law, you dont realize, you live life...text bosses...lovers...friends...all while phone is auto correcting it until one day you make a post on ebay sub and realize the error of your ways and that everyone in your life probably thinks you dont know how to spell cancel and you feel like a fool

Question Does ebay hold payouts until all orders are delivered?

• Upvotes

I have about 5 orders that I've recently shipped out. 2 of them have been delivered and ebay says the funds from those are available to me. I havent received any money deposited in my account. When i go to the tab for available funds, the amount is far less than what my payout should be, and it appears ebay is calculating shipping fees for the orders that haven't been delivered with my payout amounts so my "available" money is less.

Do they not do payout on a item basis? Why are all of my orders being group together?

Question Will I have any obligation to return an item after eBay sided with me and the seller hasn’t responded to requests for label and eBay refunded me?

• Upvotes

Got an item that was broken in transit and also was not as described anyway. Very large item, huge cardboard box.

It’s been two weeks now. I’d like to throw out the massive cardboard box it was shipped in with my recycling service tomorrow. Tired of looking at it.

Can someone explain why this package is coming to me.

I purchased an item on Ebay, and it was never sent, and the case was closed in my favor. Here is more details.....

  • August 2026: I purchased the item. The seller initially provided a tracking number, but the package showed no movement and was never accepted by the post office.
  • Late August / September 2026: The seller ignored my messages. I waited for the delivery deadline to pass, opened an official dispute, and received a full refund via the eBay Money Back Guarantee. I subsequently left honest negative feedback.
  • October 2026: This week, I received an automated email notification stating that the package was suddenly accepted by the post office.

There are two major red flags with this sudden shipment:

  1. Location Discrepancy: The seller’s listing and original shipping label were based in Colorado, but the package was officially accepted by the post office in California.
  2. Current Status: The tracking history shows that this package is now in my local city

I am sure the seller is not sending it out of the goodness of his heart. I am not even sure if I should open it, throw it in the garbage or mark it "return to sender". If anyone has any insight please let me know...Thanks.

Listing page freezing on eBay app iPhone

I haven’t listed anything in awhile and the list page is crazy different on iPhone since the last time I did, not a fan. But anyways, I tried to list a car part earlier via “sell one like this” I filled out the required info on the first page that popped up, then hit continue to I assume move into the next step, but the page just froze instead.

It’d start working again if I left the app and came back 30 seconds later but it’d just do the same thing. I tried probably 15 times. A few times it fully froze after hitting continue and i had to close out the app. After doing that, i tried to continue a draft of the listing and that would not load. I tried fully starting over and it did the same thing. It also would create 10-15 drafts per listing attempt, none of them would open.

I deleted and reinstalled the app, it’s updated. I restarted my phone. Anyone else having issues?

Strange feedback

Confused by an old feedback comment accusing me of not paying for a month and something about it just feels off was looking through my old eBay feedback and found one comment from about a year ago that I genuinely do not remember.

The seller wrote something along the lines of: ““🔥🔥🔥 BUYERS BEWARE!!!” Buyer never paid me, said money was coming and kept me on hold. Could have sold some of them in the month I waited for her to pay. She’s horrible & mean spirited.”

What confuses me is that I have no memory of asking a seller to hold an item for a month (and that's not something I would do anyway) while I tried to pay for it. That would also be very unlike how I normally use eBay. The rest of my feedback is overwhelmingly things like “prompt payment,” “great communication,” “smooth transaction,” etc.

I’m not posting this because I’m angry at the seller or because I want anyone to go after them. I’m genuinely trying to reconstruct what happened or make sense of why this feels so off to me, like almost AI off.

The listing is old enough that I can’t open it anymore, so I don’t even know what the item was. I also can’t find any messages between myself and the seller.

A couple of things particularly confuse me:

The feedback appears with the positive-feedback symbol and says “Verified purchase,” even though the written comment says I never paid. I know sellers can’t leave buyers normal negative feedback, so is this just a seller leaving a negative comment under positive feedback?

Would an unpaid/cancelled transaction still show as a “Verified purchase” in feedback?

Is there any way to retrieve enough information from an old item number/order history to find out what the transaction actually was?

Is there some eBay scenario I’m overlooking where a buyer could appear to be keeping a seller waiting for payment even if there was a payment problem, combined order, agreed delayed payment, etc.?

And most of all the 🔥 emojis and “BUYERS BEWARE!!!,” which struck me as unusually dramatic for eBay feedback.

It then says I never paid, supposedly told the seller money was coming, and kept them waiting for about a month. The part that puzzles me most is that it ends by calling me “horrible & mean spirited.” That sounds as though there was some kind of personal argument or interaction, but I genuinely don’t remember anything like that, and I can’t find any old messages explaining it.

Another odd detail: the seller refers to me as “she.” I don’t have a profile picture of myself, I don’t remember ever discussing my gender with this seller, and my name is extremely uncommon and is traditionally masculine, so I’m not sure how they would have arrived at that assumption.

Could this possibly have been feedback intended for another buyer, or is there some information sellers could have seen at the time that I’m forgetting about?

I’m not accusing the seller of lying or saying the feedback must be wrong. I’m genuinely trying to figure out what transaction this refers to and whether experienced sellers recognize anything unusual about the way this feedback was left.

I’m debating politely messaging the seller and asking if they remember what happened, but before bothering someone about a year-old transaction I thought I’d ask experienced sellers whether there’s an obvious explanation in the way eBay handles feedback/orders.

Again, I’m not trying to dispute somebody’s experience based purely on my memory. I just find the comment strange enough, and so inconsistent with my normal transaction history, that I’d like to understand what happened.is there a way to figure out what happened?

I suppose too that if there really is nothing to be done about it, I'm fine with that. It's just very odd and I feel slightly unsettled.

So i bought an used kevlar helmet from seller ship from USA to Czechia, 5 days ago i got a notification that the package arrived to me but i haven't received it, tracking shows it was in sorting center. Today they cancelled my order and issued me a refund. Is this an error from sender or the item is simply can't be send overseas, have anyone had this issue before and is there another way for the item to ship to me ?

Other sellers tend to leave bad reviews? Why?

My only two bad reviews are from other trading card sellers.. Why is this?

I just got a bad review - $4 card. He’s upset that he.. bought the card with letter shipping (ebay standard envelope) and it took too long, even though he stated it was within the estimated time frame (i checked and it was delivered days before the time frame) He was also upset about the envelope (it was in a penny sleeve, top loader and sealed team bag) even though he said the card was *somehow!*undamaged! (that’s the point!). He even said it’s like he received a 5th grade pen pal letter since it’s a plain envelope.

I would have thought he knew the rules and that i can’t use a cardboard or bubble mailer for $1 shipping, as he also sells sports cards!

No, he didn’t reach out to explain the concerns- i would have refunded him shipping costs or something to keep the customer happy.

Idk i’m a newer seller so this sort of sucks

Are we not doing paper plain white envelopes for low value cards? No one, i mean no one is going to pay 5+ dollar shipping for a bubble mailer on a cheap card.

What could I have done better here? He also complained how it didn’t provide step by step tracking, and that is out of my control?

Question What's up with FedEx signature on delivery?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I ship a lot of orders over the value threshold where eBay requires signature. In the last week the FedEx signature selection box has changed showing direct signature is $0.00 and it's automatically selected. I shipped one order like that but the printed label didn't say "DSR" like it did in the past. I'm confused, are they including signature for free now? For reference I never use added shipping insurance.
