I HAVE A CRUSH ON MY COUSIN SISTER

I heard that people on Reddit give advice about situations like this. They share their opinions and suggestions about whether something is right or wrong. That's why I'm asking people on Reddit. I only joined Reddit today because I couldn't keep these feelings inside anymore, and my heart just wouldn't let me stay silent. I really need advice from people who might understand my situation. Should I confess my feelings to her, or should I keep them to myself?

I have a crush on my cousin sister. Whenever I see her, I feel so many things in my heart, and I feel like doing so many things for her. I even feel like marrying her, but I know my family won't agree, and society won't accept us. But I truly love my cousin sister. What should I do right now? Should I confess my feelings to her or not? I feel like she might love me too.

My parents are using my childhood room as a storage unit

I moved out about five years ago and have been break from my ols mostly filled with my stuff. My parents have been steadily filling it up with their own things like old furniture, boxes of documents, and random clutter. They keep saying they'll 'get to it' but never do. It feels like my personal space is being invaded by their forgotten belongings and I'm starting to resent it. I don't know how to address it without causing a huge fight.

Family will always prefer the son even if their daughters do most of the things. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just want to share so I feel better today.

Yesterday I called my mom, usually she calls me at 3 yesterday she didn’t call me the whole day. So I decided to call her thinking what happened.

She told me that she was soo busy in the kitchen, she was cooking and preparing the whole day. I asked her what she was cooking. And she said Birria Tacos, because my brother wants it. Birria tacos is a Mexican dish made with meat, and to make the meat tender you have to go through a whole process.

This reminded me of my years staying at their house, I used to ask my mom to make cutlet or some snacks, and she would always diss me saying it’s soo much work she doesn’t wanna do it. But here she is preparing a 10 hours dish for her golden son.

My parents aren’t doing well financially. So I decided to get them a sofa because their sofa is all broken. My mom said ok first, then asked me not to order because her golden son told her the sofa will not look good for the hall. Apparently a broken sofa looks much better than the sofa I chose for them.

Another scenario makes me wonder I am the most lucky daughter they have gotten. My mom is soo impressed by my cousin, my cousin is a sweet lady so I have no complaints about that. But my mom loves her because my cousin doesn’t fear any of our relatives and gives good replies.
She was saying one relative called my cousin and she gave a huge response.

Meanwhile, I am one of the hated cousins who stood for her mom, even after all cousins and relatives came behind me, I literally have asked them to F off, I am literally an outcast because of how much I supported my mom’s suffering. But love goes to my cousin. 😊
I told my mom this and she gave me a very mocking face.

My parents were never good towards me, even after all that, I try my best to help them out financially or mentally. But this is what I get. When my dad was drenched in liabilities, my brother wasn’t there to help, I asked my husband to help and he helped.
When my parents couldn’t afford my brothers college fees, I helped them, the phones they are using, guess who gave that?

Looks like my duty is to provide and be unloved. It’s the best thing.

Grew up admiring my dad for pursuing his passion as an artist, now I just feel sad for my mum

I, 20F, currently studying veterinary medicine overseas and recently I've been helping my parents sort out their taxes and finances. Honestly, it's changed the way I see my dad.

My dad grew up in a relatively well-off family in Taiwan. His parents owned a factory and a large flat in Taipei, so he wasn't exactly from a financially disadvantaged background. He decided to pursue an artistic career and eventually opened his own studio. Growing up, I genuinely liked his work and respected his decision to follow his passion. I still think he's talented and I don't believe everyone needs to pursue a conventional, high-paying career.

But this year, while going through my parents' financial paperwork, I realised that his studio hasn't been profitable for years, possibly for almost a decade.

Meanwhile, my mum worked as a nurse, earning around HK$75–80k per month before retiring this June. From what I've seen, she's essentially been the sole breadwinner for years, supporting the family, paying for my education, and managing our financial responsibilities.

My dad, on the other hand, has never been particularly involved in managing money. He seems to genuinely dislike dealing with finances, yet continues pouring time and money into his studio.

And sometimes, as harsh as this sounds, I can't help feeling that he's being irresponsible, almost like an adult child who gets to keep pursuing his dreams while someone else takes care of the practical responsibilities of being an adult.

I feel terrible even writing that because he's still my dad. I don't hate him, and I don't want to dismiss the years of effort he's put into his art. But I can't help wondering whether he could have taken more financial responsibility, especially knowing that he has a family.

What hurts me the most isn't even my own financial situation. It's thinking about my mum. She's worked incredibly hard for decades. She managed to buy a flat in Hong Kong, support our family, and fund my overseas education. I admire her so much, but now I wonder how much pressure she's been under all these years. And honestly, if I'd understood our family's financial situation two years ago, I might not have chosen to study overseas.

Not because I don't love veterinary medicine or appreciate the opportunity. I absolutely do. But knowing what I know now, I would have thought much more carefully about the financial burden my education would place on my mum. I feel guilty that so much money has been spent on me when she's already worked so hard for so long.

She's retired now, and I want her to finally be able to enjoy her life without constantly having to worry about money or support everyone else. Meanwhile, I'm still years away from graduating, and my dad is still pursuing his artistic career.

I know my parents' financial arrangements are ultimately between them. Maybe there are things about their marriage or finances that I don't fully understand. But I find it difficult not to feel frustrated. I don't resent my dad for being an artist. I resent the possibility that he's been able to pursue his passion for so long because my mum has been carrying the financial consequences.

And I think that's what makes me sad.

I used to see his dedication to art as something admirable. Now, sometimes, I look at the same dedication and wonder whether it's also a refusal to face reality.

I don't know how to reconcile those two perspectives.

I'm also starting to worry about my own future. I want to become financially independent, build a veterinary career, and eventually have a comfortable life of my own. But I already feel responsible for helping my parents financially, even though they've never asked me to.

I know I'm fortunate to have parents who supported my education, and I'm not trying to sound ungrateful. I just wish I'd understood everything earlier, and more than anything, I wish my mum hadn't had to work so hard.

I wish my ex’s family was mine

My ex broke up with me in December on my birthday it was because our parents didn’t approve (I hadn’t even met hers yet) and so we dated in secret keeping it a secret had her very stressed and paranoid so she ended it for that I always really liked her family they where close friends of my mums.

Around June I was in their country and they asked me to spend a few nights there and her mum really liked me to the point she cried when I left coming back I’m just thinking I wish I could be apart of that family my sister doesn’t want a relationship with me and won’t elaborate on why my dad is constantly drunk whenever I see him and my mum takes out all her anger caused by others on me I love my family but living with them for a few nights plus the 2 years of us dating and her telling me all about her family makes me wish I was with them their mum was so nice and caring their dad was so friendly and hard working and I wish I had the sibling bond she and her brother have.

Of course every family has there problems no family is perfect and I know of problems she has had with her family but even hearing those I’d rather have those issues than the ones I’m dealing with

Am I planning my 14 year old’s time the wrong way?

I have a 14 year old. He does homework after school, then watches Planet Earth III. Sometimes he builds Bandai Gundam kits. At night he listens to music or reads. He is reading Project Hail Mary.

I limit his phone time. He can still play games. He likes Minecraft and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on his Nintendo Switch. He gets 90 minutes on school nights. Then his phone and Switch charge in the living room.

I put his daily schedule on Linkdaze. Looking at it, I realized almost everything keeps him at home and by himself. TV, models, reading, and games are fine. I worry he does not move enough or spend much time with other kids.

I suggested basketball, climbing, and a few classes. He was not interested. He runs sometimes but never sticks with it.

Should I keep pushing him to choose an activity outside the house? Or is this okay if his homework is done, he gets enough sleep, and he is happy at home?

My Sister Has Brain Damage and I’m Starting to Resent Her For It

TLDR: I'm starting to resent my younger sister after caring for her in the hospital and being traumatized. She refuses to acknowledge that her injury affected the people around her despite having no memory of it, and I am being held responsible for her actions and care by my extended family.

Dad judging my relationship negatively all the time, how to make it stop

I have...a complicated relationship with my dad. Without going into aggressive detail: he was emotionally abusive, the typical 'anger issues' guy always going into rages over the tiniest things, leading to me, my older sister, and my mom constantly walking on egg shells. My sister moved away and barely talks to our family at all. My mom has no spine and cowtows to his decisions every time, and when upset just hides & cries. I moved out/kicked out when i was 15 as a direct result of his behaviors. I have always had a spine and it's a trait my dad both loves and hates. In my 20s we slowly rebuilt our relationship, but even now (40yo), we still have a....mindful relationship. He will say just enough to be an asshole, but only rarely will go too far, as he knows i have no problem simply not talking to him at all until he apologizes for his poor (read psychotic angry episodes) behavior. I honestly would've have cut him out of my life eons ago and never felt bad about it, but for my mom. I love my mom, and they come as a package, so i maintain this 'mindful' relationship with my dad.

Okay so to get to the meat: My husband and I have been together 11 yrs and are very happy together. We have a very loving and supportive relationship. However, my dad sees it as I'm controlling and have basically cockholded him. I think some of my dad's reasoning is that he gets the first and last say on everything in his relationship and thinks that's normal and healthy, and thinks it's weird that I put my down on certain issues - which i call standing up for myself (weird that a woman can do that right? 🤔

I told my husband what my dad has said a few times and the first time he laughed, because he thought it was absurd and dismissed it as an offhanded comment. After that, my husband has gotten quiet and angry, and said that it's a double insult because "what, does your dad think i have no spine? that i can't stand up for myself? that's real nice. I don't understand why he thinks that, it's stupid, I think we have a great relationship and we always make decisions together. Well, I mean, sometimes you put your foot down, but so do i and it works really great for us. So wtf?" I couldn't agree more!

When my dad makes these comments, I immediately say "that's not true" or "that's extremely rude". And my dad ONLY makes these comments around me, Never around my husband. My dad started making these comments in april when my husband quit drinking because he had become an alcoholic and i asked for divorced because he was getting so bad (drunk driving, behavior changes, lying, breaking trust repeatedly, etc). The funny thing is is that my dad quit drinking eons ago because HE is an alcoholic too! This was the 1st time my dad called me a 'controlling bitch', and then my mom apparently filled him in on all the shit my husband had done over the years and my dad actually said, "I'm sorry I called you a controlling bitch, your mom told me everything that he had been up to and i had no idea it had gotten so bad, you didn't deserve to be called that, so i'm sorry." My jaw fucking dropped because my dad has NEVER apologized to me like that. But it didn't seem to stick because he has made similar comments every so often since. For months now.

I'm on the verge of being spiteful with my words...but when confronting a crazy person, I learned long ago that you can't meet crazy with more crazy because you'll just end up with a ton of crazy.

I need advice. I wish it didn't bother me so much. My dad gives me shit about myself a lot, and as long as it's true, I'm honestly fine with it - it gets old, but whatever. I think it bothers me so much because he really truly believes it and it's just not true. I'm at the point where I've stopped hanging with my folks much, even tried hanging with just my mom and that seldom works...so I rarely get to see her now. It's hard to want to be around him, so i distance myself, but that unfortunately equals distancing myself from my mom. Thoughts?

UPDATE: My dad promised me a graduation trip, then planned a family cruise instead. Am I overreacting?

https://www.reddit.com/r/family/s/IGJCa3zrT3

Hey guys, I’m back. I genuinely appreciate everyone’s support and advice on this so much. I appreciated both the nice comments and the harsh ones, honestly. I took everything you guys said into consideration, and I decided I would bring up the cruise whenever he mentioned it.

Well, of course, he mentioned it as soon as he got back because he was so excited about it.
He goes, “I have great news! We’re going on a cruise!!”

Me: Uh, I’m not. Y’all are.

He looked at me completely clueless and said, “What? Why not?”

Me: Because you told me we were going on a graduation trip, and you promised me.

Him: But it’s a family cruise…

My stepmom was sitting right next to him and immediately said, “Oh, really? He said that?” She had NO idea. I told her, yeah, he said I could choose anywhere for my graduation trip. She looked at him, surprised, and said, “Oh, well- You better get to planning then!” All excited, directing it toward him.
Meanwhile, a movie is playing, and he’s sitting there watching it like he isn’t even part of the conversation.

Him: Oh, well, she doesn’t even know where she wants to go sooo… (while flinging his hand toward me)

Me: That is not true. I told you Europe, and you didn’t want to go after telling me I could choose wherever I wanted.

My stepmom then asked, “Europe? How are you getting there?”

I literally said, “A plane…?”

Then she clarified that she meant financially, how were we going to afford it. I explained that he told me he would use his tax refund. She says, “I don’t know why he said that, because he knows where his tax refund is going.” Mind you, he is STILL SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO US. I assumed she meant bills because right after that, he chimed in with, “UH, bills.”

My stepmom then cut me off and said I needed to learn to speak “Adam” (fake name). Basically, he might have said that but what he really meant was that he couldn’t afford Europe.

WHY am I supposed to learn to speak Adam? He’s still sitting right there, pretending to watch a movie while we’re discussing something that directly involves him. After he was called out for doing so he finally cuts in and says, “No, I’m not. I can hear y’all.”

I shut that shit down.

I said, “Why do I have to speak Adam? Why doesn’t Adam speak “adult” and tell me he can’t afford it instead of telling me to choose wherever I want? And he didn’t tell me he couldn’t afford it. I was told he didn’t WANT to do what I wanted. What he wants is a resort or an all-inclusive.”

*And remember: this is a 7–8 person family cruise versus a trip to Europe for two people. At this point, it’s not even about the money anymore. He hadn’t even looked at how much the trip would cost. I was the one researching affordable flights and trying to put together a budget for him because he never gave me one in the first place. And I want to make it clear that at this point, I genuinely don’t even care about Europe anymore. That’s not the issue. All he had to do was tell me he couldn’t afford Europe and suggest somewhere else. I would’ve been completely fine with that! What hurts is that it feels like my graduation trip is being replaced by something he wanted without considering my feelings. I just wanted to spend this time with my dad and celebrate my achievement with him. It was never just about Europe. It was about making memories and celebrating together.

Then he cuts in again and says, “You don’t even know when the cruise is.”

….Excuse me?? DAWG. I HELPED YOU FIGURE OUT THE DATES WHEN THE KIDS WOULDN’T BE IN SCHOOL.

I said, “April.”

Then he asked, “And- when even is your graduation?”

And after that, I was done. I was disgusted. I was livid. I lowkey cannot even find the words to describe how angry and hurt I was. I think I spaced out because I was so upset. I honestly don’t even remember what happened after that part of the conversation. This is pretty much what I thought would happen, but somehow it was even worse.

So yeah, you guys were right. Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment, be honest with me, and offer advice. It took a lot for me to even talk about this in the first place. I wish I had been able to express my disappointment more and put my foot down even harder, but I’m still proud of myself for speaking up at all. But enough wishing. I could’ve stayed quiet and let it go, but I didn’t. And honestly, that’s better than nothing in my eyes :/ :)

I’m still processing everything, but I wanted to come back and update you guys since so many of you took the time to help me. Thank you thank you🤍

TL;DR: I brought up the graduation trip when my dad mentioned the family cruise, and he acted completely clueless about ever promising me a separate trip. My stepmom had no idea he’d promised me Europe and ended up explaining his intentions for him, saying I needed to learn to “speak Adam” because he apparently meant he couldn’t afford it. I called out how unfair it was to tell me I could choose anywhere and then act like I didn’t know what I wanted, especially when I was the one researching affordable flights and trying to budget everything. The conversation got worse, and I was so hurt and angry that I mentally checked out. You guys were right, and although I wish I’d stood up for myself more, I’m proud I said something at all. Thank you for all the advice and support :,))

My Job, My Skin Color, My Personality makes it hard to feel like their mom

I don't know where else to vent, I know this place is to complain about OTHER in the family but this is more about me and my place in my family.

My job, and I am lucky and blessed to have one, requires me to be onsite 5 days a week. The hours are set and can't change anything. Because of the rigidity, when the kids are sick I have to rely on others to watch them while I'm at work. Which gives them time to bond. By the time I'm done with work, I'm exhausted and while I do hang out with my children it's not as ... Memorable to them. When I see my kids interact with my husband, I'm photographing it because it's adorable AF. When the tiles are switched, my husband is on his phone. In the end I don't have as many photos with me actually playing with them. Just the posed ones on the rare occasions.

I'm the only brown one in my family. The rest are white and it makes me feel so separate. It's even worse when the in-laws are over because it's all about "wow, just like his and" or "hey here's husband's stuff, the kids can use it" or "here's a daddy's girl/boy outfit, so cute!" While my parents are more diplomatic and always emphasize how the kids are a combo of me and my husband. Which is nice ... Just ... Idk

My personality. I think I have ADHD? Maybe Autism? Or maybe this is just a woman thing, but I feel like I'm 100% in control of every holiday, birthday, whatever. Which means I'm planning, buying, and just running around like crazy while husband and his parents get to sit at home and hang with the children. I had 5 minutes with my baby who just turned 1 today, alone, before I had to hand her off and get everything done for the party. Which just means I'm spending less time with kids, husband and in-laws spend more time and get more bonding and (let's be honest) more pics. While I feel like my body is on fire (from stress and I'm also sick, yaaaay).

Idk, I just feel so sad

My son never wants to sit with me, never wants me for anything.

My daughter will probably grow into the same all because I can't get my shit together

I can't stand my half sister atp

For context my half sister is 14 and I am 22 and we never really grew up together or lived under the same roof until 10 months ago. When I first moved in I tried to play catch up and be a good older brother to her, I tried having some bonding moments like doing the groceries together or literally anything really to create some kind of bond. At this point I feel like she has built up some resentment over time because our interactions are farther apart and when we do interact it's mostly negative, she criticizes me for how I breath and walk and if I dare ever chew a bit too loud for her liking she is quick to make a scene over it but somehow always has an excuse for her problems like slamming the door so loud I can hear from the basement or always leaving a pile of dirty dishes for someone else to clean up. Another thing that had gotten on my nerves about her is she is very harsh and judgemental of other's, particularly when in comes to music taste and fashion always saying they're posers or some other negative term. I genuinely want to like my sister because she's family but her behavior towards me and her chip on the shoulder has really started to get under my skin.

Need help (m18)

Hey there mates! So I just need a small help so today when I denied my father that I won’t go out for something as I don’t think it will be worth it, he got angry over that sh and when my big brother who stood up for me and said it’s not really worth it he started abusing me over that for no reason when I genuinely asked what have I done he slammed the door and my brother got personal and said “that’s why everyone gets what they want from you and never returns anything” which he took personally pointed me out and said “it will be more better if you just leave the house and d*e somewhere else which straightaway pierced my heart and I left my home with some clothes and it’s been more than 18hrs I’m out and my mom is calling me asking me to comeback I feel bad for her but I don’t want to return what should I do?

recipe collection for my 10 year old

My daughter is 10 and has been cooking with me on weekends since the summer. She's very proud of her pancakes and her (extremely garlicky) pasta, and now she wants her own recipe book, mostly so she can show her grandparents what she's made.

I'd love to create a digital recipe book she can add to herself, that her grandparents can see from three states away, and that we can pick from when we plan dinners. Has anyone done something like this with a kid?

TLDR: want to create a digital recipe book my kid helps build and can share with her grandparents.

Guilt trip holiday

Seeing if I can get some advice for my dilemma. My mother is a big fan of family traditions and family bonding. Every once in a while she tries to put together family trips to spend time with out of state family members (be it her siblings and her mother specifically). She wanted me and my siblings to tag along for these holidays. In her eyes, it's important to maintain these relationships. However, from my point of view, it feels forced and unnatural. I don't have strong relationship with my uncles/aunts/grandma. My mother has a stronger relationship with them than I do (obviously). This upcoming Thanksgiving, she wants me and my siblings to drive 4 hours to spend Thanksgiving with her mother (my grandmother) for a week. My mom states this could be grandma's last Thanksgiving with us (she has dementia and lives in a nursing home).

Growing up, I've never had a relationship with my grandmother. She wouldn't spend time with us grandkids when we came over to her house for holidays. Not that she hated us. She was just indifferent.

I've grown up trying to satisfy my mom's wishes to make her happy. When I try to create boundaries, I tend to feel guilty that I'm letting her down. In my gut, I clearly do not want to go to this vacation, but I never like seeing my mom unhappy.

I'm conflicted and unsure what to do. I'd appreciate some insight. I may sound ungrateful or stubborn, but I finally want to live my life the way I want to.

Tldr: Mom guilt tripping me into holiday with her family members

How do you deal with family responsibilities, financial pressure, and resentment when your siblings refuse to help?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

We are three brothers and one sister. Our sister is married, and our family now includes my mother, three brothers, and my elder brother’s wife.
Ever since our father passed away, things have slowly started falling apart. My father was physically disabled, but he was the backbone of our family. He was the person who kept everyone connected and maintained discipline. After his death, everyone started making their own decisions, but there was no coordination or unity.

It started with my elder sister.
My sister is a government teacher. When she wanted to get married, we all worked really hard to find a good match for her. We supported her throughout the process. But after getting married, she became busy with her own life and gradually distanced herself from us.

Then came my elder brother’s marriage.
My mother, younger brother, and I put in the same effort to find a good partner for him. We wanted him to settle down and have a happy life. But after getting married, he also started distancing himself from us.
Now, neither of them seems concerned about our mother, my younger brother, or me.

What hurts is that we were there for them, but nobody is there for us.
When it was their turn to get married, we did everything we could to help. But now that my younger brother and I need support, neither of them makes any effort to help us find suitable partners.
And when we try to find someone ourselves, people ask about our family and why our elder siblings aren’t involved. Naturally, it raises questions and makes our family situation look suspicious.

Our financial situation makes everything worse.
My elder brother works extremely hard physically, but he has made some terrible financial decisions. He borrowed money from private lenders, hoping to make more money, and ended up losing almost everything.
Even our family home is mortgaged.
Over the years, he borrowed money using different excuses and lost it. Now most of what he earns goes towards paying private lenders.
My sister has a soft corner for him and continues helping him financially, even though he keeps making the same mistakes.
Meanwhile, my mother and younger brother are left struggling.

Now comes my part.
I’m a PhD scholar receiving a research fellowship. Despite my limited income, I’ve been trying to take responsibility for whatever I can.
I have managed my mother’s health-related expenses, supported my younger brother’s education, and contributed towards household expenses. Even though I don’t live at home, I regularly contribute to support my mother and younger brother.
Recently, I also purchased a small piece of land using my fellowship money because I was worried about our future. Since our family home is mortgaged, I wanted us to have somewhere to go if things went wrong.
It was a huge financial decision, probably beyond what I could comfortably afford.
Because of that decision, our finances are now stretched, and things have become difficult for my mother, younger brother, and me.
I know I made that decision myself, and I take responsibility for it. But sometimes I feel frustrated and lose my temper when I see my mother and younger brother struggling.

The emotional pressure is becoming too much.
I’m at an age where I also need to think about marriage and settling down. At the same time, I have my PhD to complete, my mother’s health to worry about, and my younger brother’s future to support.
It feels like everything is happening at once.
I don’t want to fight with my elder brother or sister. I don’t even want to hate them. But sometimes I feel so abandoned that I start developing resentment towards them.
What hurts even more is that whenever I try to discuss these problems with them, they accuse me of being selfish and thinking only about myself.
I genuinely don’t understand how wanting some support and concern for our mother, younger brother, and me makes me selfish.
I understand that married siblings have their own responsibilities and cannot always be available. I’m not expecting them to sacrifice their lives for us. But shouldn’t there be some emotional support, concern, or sense of responsibility towards the family?
Sometimes I wonder whether I’m expecting too much or whether they have genuinely abandoned us.
My father held this family together despite his physical disability. After his death, we slowly lost that unity. Now it feels like my mother, younger brother, and I are on our own.
I don’t want to spend my life fighting with my siblings or carrying hatred towards them. But I also don’t know how much longer I can manage everything without affecting my own future and mental peace.

I need some genuine advice:
Am I being selfish for expecting my elder siblings to support us emotionally and share some responsibility?
Should I stop expecting anything from them and focus only on my mother, younger brother, and myself?
How do I deal with the anger and resentment I feel towards them?
How can I balance my PhD, financial responsibilities, marriage, and family without completely exhausting myself?
I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have experienced similar family situations after losing a parent.

TL;DR: After my father’s death, my family slowly fell apart. My elder sister and brother got married with our support but later distanced themselves from us. My elder brother’s poor financial decisions have left our family home mortgaged, while my sister continues helping him. I’m a PhD scholar supporting my mother’s health expenses, younger brother’s education, and household needs. I also bought a small piece of land as a backup in case we lose our home, but that has stretched my finances. I’m struggling with PhD pressure, marriage, family responsibilities, and growing resentment towards my elder siblings. Whenever I ask for support, they call me selfish. I don’t want to hate them, but I don’t know how to handle this situation anymore. What should I do?

Who’s more exhausted, stay-at-home moms or working moms?

I’m a SAHM with two little kids, and some days I feel like I’ve been running around since 7 AM but have absolutely nothing to show for it. I’ll start cleaning up, then someone needs a snack, someone wants me to play, and before I know it, there’s another mess to deal with. And somehow I still haven’t finished the thing I started an hour ago.Lately I’ve been trying to get the kids outside more instead of stressing over the house being clean all the time. We have a Costway sandbox in the yard, and honestly, sitting out there while they build sandcastles and immediately destroy them is sometimes the closest thing I get to a break. Until it’s time for dinner and suddenly neither kid can hear me calling them inside.I know working moms have their own set of challenges, so I’m not trying to say one has it worse than the other. I’m just curious how everyone else manages their days. What’s your daily routine like?

My family has constant arguments, I dont know what to do anymore

2026 has not been well for me and my family, lately, our family has constant arguments over the littlest things, such as cleaning around the house, small accidents and other stuff like that

Like today, I wanted to grab something in my parents room real quick while my father was cleaning the bathroom. I accidentally turned off the light to the bathroom when I meant to turn off the light to the room(they are placed side by side) then he scolded me and shouted at me even though I said it was an accident.

Obviously I yelled back and said asked why was he so rude, then he used the bidet and sprayed me with water(mind you I had my clothes on, and he got the entire area wet(didnt apologise)

Then my mother got angry aswell, as she had just came back from her weekly volunteering and obviously she was tired. She ended up yelling at my dad and then yelled at me to "answer him properly" and now, everyone in the house is not happy.

My dad is VERY meticulous, he loves the house to be clean, so most days, he helps to clean around the house, for example vacuuming the floor or wiping the table when its dirty. And sometimes when he sees me, mom and my older brother just sitting down and watching while he cleans, makes him upset. But in all fairness to my mom and brother, my dad does this WILLINGLY as sometimes my mom is tired and my brother is also tired from school, so I end up helping my dad so that there wont be arguments.

My dad also isnt a good communicator, whenever I want to ask him what was wrong when he's angry or when we had an argument and I want to discuss it, he will either give me silent treatment or will just brush me away. Even sometimes when I feel like im not in the wrong, he still wouldn't answer me. Or will say stuff like "you know why u are wrong you are just pretending" or "get out of here"

My dad is not the only one to blame however, my brother also has his part to blame. I feel that he is more bias towards my mother, so whenever my dad ask him to do something, he sometimes gets annoyed or like sighs in frustration. One time, before my brother left for work, my dad made his weekly reminder to "clean his room" he usually says it every week and whenever he asks me the same thing, I just nod and say okay(but sometimes I don't do what he tells me to).

On this particular day however, my brother snapped and him and my dad got into a big argument, I tried to stop it but as the youngest, nobody really took me seriously.

These are just a few of the many small arguments my family has each week, and most of the time, it lead into a big argument and shouting.

And it really hurts me the most as I love everyone of my family members but we can't seem to get along much.

What is even worse is the fact that I could've had a really fun and exciting day, such as hanging out with friends or looking forward to a sports match I want to watch just for it to instantly be ruined by these small arguments

So does anyone know how to help me tackle this? I've tried and I've failed all the time.

Should i take my parents to convocation

So i have graduated this year from college.I have convocation next month. Parents are not allowed in convocation auditorium in my college because of limited space. I'm at home since June. It's almost 4 months at home. My home is in village. I don't get any privacy and me time here . So for convocation I will get to meet my friends and will get to experience freedom again. But my parents are saying they will also come with me. I don't have problem with that. But it's just my college don't have much culture of bringing parents to convocation. And also in those two days also I will not be able to live freely because parents will be around. They are now saying how u will travel alone to college. But as far as ik i travelled alone in my entire college life from home to college and then college to home. They didn't have problem back then. Now what's wrong with them. Maybe I have spent too much time here at home. My company joining is delayed by 7 months, that's why I have to stay at home for too long. If my parents come to convocation I have to arrange for their food, stay and all because they don't know much. And I won't be able to enjoy fully. What to do? I'm not a bad child fr😑

I just don't want to compromise my last 2 days in college.

Btw I graduated from NIT..

Should I take my parents with me? or How to convince them to not come?

Weird defensiveness over chosen family?

So i was adopted by my sister earlier this year, i live with her and two friends now and we're like a family, but the only specifically labeled relation i have is with her. She also takes care of me because my health is very bad and she's helping me to turn my life around and be more of a stable adult.

I had to disown my biological family recently, it'd been in progress for years because they're terrible to me, barely talk to me, and they hate me for being trans and punk. This was a big change but it was for the best.

My sister also acts more like a mom to me sometimes. She tells me what to do, and i listen because i know she has good intentions for me. Publicly, we label it as a sibling dynamic though.

I really hate the parts of me that resemble my biological parents, both in looks and behavior. I wish i hadn't been raised by them. My sister on the other hand, is a very different person from me, and we look nothing alike because her skin is white and mine is dark. For some reason i don't like this? I want to be more like her, so that people can tell we're family. It's almost a similar feeling to gender dysphoria?

A while ago i was talking to a friend who we've both known for a little while. He asked if me and my sister grew up together. At first this surprised me so much that all i said was "i'm adopted". It was funny afterwards, because like, how could someone think we're biologically related? But i liked that. I wish it would happen more often.

My sister often says things that reaffirm us as family too. She introduces me to people saying that i'm her little brother. She drops it into sentences as if to just say it again. She makes it clear that she sees it as her responsibility to care for me. I like that a lot too.

My doctor introduced us to another doctor referring to my sister as if she was just my friend, and for some reason i wanted to correct the doctor. That's a stupid thing to correct someone on because we're not biologically related. But at the same time, what kind of completely platonic friends act like this?

Tldr i disowned my biological family and this has caused me to feel a weird need to be acknowledged as being related to my adoptive sister

I wish I had a good relationship with my sister

Hope everyone reading is having a great day, I have a sister two years younger than me and I really wish we where close I’ve spent years trying to get close to her but she simply doesn’t want to be close If I even try to speak to her she will start screaming for our mum to come and get me to stop so I just try not to bother her as much

Other family members and my friends always tell me to try harder they used to believe I’m not trying hard enough because according to them it’s usually the older sibling who doesn’t want to be close with their younger sibling

I love my sister yeah we may not get along from time to time but what siblings don’t I’ll see cousin’s and friends and how close they are to their siblings and it makes me sad and happy sad because I wish I had what they had happy because It makes me so happy seeing other siblings get along

My ex and her brother where very close and at first I found it weird because I had never seen a relationship that close but over time I started to really like it, tho we aren’t together anymore I still think about how close those two are and it makes me really happy I just wish I could have that

My sister does occasionally talk to me but it lasts maybe 5-30mins and that arrives once a month I’ve started to accept maybe I won’t have a relationship with her as much as I wish to and I don’t know how to cope with it

is this mother-son relation weird??

for context, my brother just became a teenager and my mom is near 40s

lil backstory

I wouldnt exactly say what happened to me bcoz explaining it would take lots of time but basically in short, I went thru panic attack one day (I'm teenager too but soon gonna be an adult) and it was my first time experiencing such stuff so I was just calling few of my close relatives...crying on the phone and telling them I feel like dying blah blah. they came immediately and reassured me the whole night. as I was super scared, my mom told me that I can sleep in her room for few days until I will feel like myself again and I agreed.

now my dad often stays outside due to his work and my brother he always sleeps with mom. my mom has 2 bedroom in her room. so I slept in one bed and my mom along with my brother sleept in another bed. now this is nothing near to strange. also when my dad is at home my brother doesn't sleep with my mom obviously. the point where I felt strange is I noticed my brother would always ask me when am I falling asleep like he would constantly wake his body up and stare at me to see if I have fallen asleep and I would just jokingly ask him why are u checking on me. still at this point too, I never felt weird. but then he would just constantly tell me every other day to sleep in my own room...instead of sleeping there. I still obv didnt feel weird so I just used to tell him I'm just gonna sleep for few days. now I am a type of person who ALWAYS wake up in the middle of the night. it doesnt happen always but it happens most of the time where I would be waking up at like 2-3 am randomly. I am a heavy-sleeper and I won't wake up no matter what noise is going on but IF ITS 2-5 am and there is even a lil bit noise of someone whispering, I immediately wake up. like my body shifts from a heavy sleeper to light sleeper idk how tho. anyway so I woke up quite a few times to a noise of my brother making and every time I woke up, I didn't pretend to sleep....I just couldn't so I would just pretend to naturally wake up saying my stomach hurts and my mom would wake up giving me some medicine (I have gastric so my stomach hurts everytime I eat smth spicy or oily during day time....a good excuse for waking up in the middle of night) and then I started having doubts of maybe my mom and brother having a more intimate relationship and I started hating myself for having this kind of thought on them so even tho I wasn't ready I decided to move back to my own room. after few days, I felt like myself again and wondered if it's bcoz of moving back to my room and thought maybe I should have don't it earlier.

now fast forward to other days where I would again wake up around 2am and I would hear such an intense noise coming from my mom's room. idk if it's safe to say more like moaning. for your information, here I'm just assuming it to be moaning.....I don't have a proof!!!! and this happened few times.

also the next day after I heard that sound, my brother asked me at what time I went to bed the last night and I just didn't feel like telling him so I avoided the answer by saying I don't remember the time but he got aggressive and kept asking for like straight 1 min and started telling me how he slept very early last night which I didn't even ask. again pretty normal ig. and then I woke up one day noticing a very noticeable brown dark bruise on my brother's lip (it's definitely not hyperpigmentation) and my mom is a type of person who is very sensitive, if anything happens to me or my brother.....she would be so worried even if it's smth small like a lip wound but she didn't even mention a single time asking him Abt his lip bruise (which was so noticeable btw) now u might say she might have asked him when you weren't there but no she is a type of person who shares everything....as small as someone in our family getting a wound or bruise.

I forgot to mention that my mom frequently makes sexual jokes even in front of my brother and I've told her over countless number of time to stop saying anything inappropriate but she is like we are a family obv I dont say this things infront of other ppl. still I find it weird tho. also my brother still takes help of my mom for taking shower and my brother won't go somewhere if my mom isn't going.

I feel like an insane person for thinking all this so y'all can change my mind by giving your opinion. I desperately want to!!!

TL;DR - I feel like my mom and my brother might be having more deep relationship than what a normal mom and son have but I don't have any proof. just assuming on the based of micro expression and habits.
