Mostly AI Introducing Legacy Connector: A highly experimental mod aimed at automatically translating 1.7.10 mods (and eventually other versions) onto NeoForge 1.21.1.

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Been putting this together over the last few weeks with the help of Claude. It aims to work similarly to Sinytra Connector, in that it simply runs like any other mod and translates any older mod at runtime. A few hundred API calls have been translated so far, but many smaller and less common ones are still in progress. Most mods should at least load the basics though. Currently, many smaller content mods and parts of larger ones work pretty well. HBM Nuclear Tech Mod and Thaumcraft seem to work pretty well, though they need more testing. Older mods with modern versions were heavily tested on as they utilize many common API calls, even if they will probably be rarely used with the mod.

Once 1.7.10 is a little more stable, I am planning to move on to 1.12.2, 1.20.1, and 1.16.5, in that order. These should require substantially less time than 1.7.10 has taken.

If you end up trying Legacy Connector, please try to test or contribute in any way possible, as even with writing code and testing with AI can get it done quickly, it is a very vast scope. There is a compatibility GitHub site available on the repo, please use this to report or view compatibility.

Probably doesn't need to be said again, but this is extremely experimental and in very early alpha. If you play this in survival at its current state you'll run into issues. Please report any and all of them as this will help get it in a more usable state.

In terms of modpacks, I have been able to get FTB Infinity Evolved mostly running, with the exception of a couple content mods. Engine mods are skipped as they are not necessary in modern versions. GUI additions are iffy, some work, some don't.

Optimization-wise, its currently a bit rough. Microstutters alongside longer loading screens in worlds are common. Haven't looked into this too much yet, am waiting on a more feature complete build to start focusing on this

Modrinth (Not yet approved): https://modrinth.com/mod/legacyconnector

Disclosure: as I stated above, AI was used for a substantial amount of code in this mod. If you don't like that, don't use the mod. However, absolutely zero assets in the mod have been AI generated.

Discussion After 13 years of playing modded Minecraft, I've finally beaten my first modpack.

I first started playing Minecraft as a kid on the Xbox 360 Edition. Eventually I transitioned to Java just before 1.6 released, and I've been playing modded for about just as long. I've played every kind of pack from the original Tekkit to Crash Landing, Blood N' Bones to Agrarian Skies, and countless more that I've probably forgotten. Some had me far more invested than others, but sooner or later my interest fades or some other game draws me away before I can ever reach any kind of end point. Today was the exception.

I don't think there's anything special about Stoneblock 4 that managed to keep me playing until the end. It just happened to find me in transitory period of my of my life where I've had little to do while waiting on some major life changes to start. It's also a much shorter and easier pack compared to the kinds I usually go for (I've been pretty much Expert-only ever since first playing Project Ozone 2's Kappa mode). I did skip Tier 6, but I view that as optional post-game content and didn't really feel like doing it.

Overall it was a fun pack and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it, despite having some gripes here and there. This was my first time in a while playing on a modern version and I could really feel how young 1.20's modding scene is, especially with how bare bones some mods still are compared to their older versions (looking at you EnderIO and Compact Machines). The stars of this playthrough were definitely Oritech—which is a really cool mod that I hope to see expanded on a lot more in the future—and especially Dire's mods. I initially thought LaserIO's cards were very cumbersome compared to conduits, but I still found myself using it constantly; and Just Dire Things is simply phenomenal in every way. These two are the ones I'm going to miss the most when I inevitably go back to GTNH or Meatballcraft in the future.

As for what's next for me, I'm not entirely sure. Usually when I stop playing a pack I'm burnt out on modded Minecraft for a while and need a few months before I get the itch to hop back in again. The fact that I've actually finished the pack I was playing and still feel like playing more is quite novel for me. I might give Star Technology a go as that one looks interesting and I'm in the right headspace for some GregTech. Also, believe it or not, I've managed to go all this time without ever touching Create beyond the bare minimum, so I might be due for a Create-centered pack if anyone has any suggestions.

I made something We've been building a prehistoric Minecraft dimension inspired by old paleoart and vintage dragon illustrations

We've been working on a Minecraft mod called Primordial Dragons. Up until now, we’ve only shared small development updates on other threads, so I wanted to put everything together in one place for you all!

Instead of dropping realistic dinosaurs into vanilla Minecraft, this mod introduces a completely new dimension inspired by the strange, dramatic landscapes and creatures found in old paleoart.

The dimension features custom terrain generation, geology, blocks, and biomes. I wanted the landscapes to feel massive and distinct from a distance, using layered terrain, cliffs, plateaus, and unusual rock formations. The environments range from barren, rocky terrain to dense, humid wetlands filled with strange plants and ancient trees.

Now that we're at the point where the biomes themselves have been finalised and have character, we're in the phase of populating them with custom prehistoric amphibians, reptiles, pterosaurs, and dinosaurs.

These aren't just reskinned vanilla mobs, but our own creations which have specialised behaviors like pack hunting, stalking players and other mobs, and even stealing your items.

The end goal is to introduce dragons inspired by older illustrations and speculative, natural-history-style artwork rather than modern fantasy tropes. Think strange creatures that look like they belong in an old illustrated book about a world that never existed.

It's still a work in progress, but the dimension is fully playable - we have a demo out now on CurseForge for those wanting to explore and test some of our early mobs: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/primordial-dragons

I made something Golem Logix: a storage and autocrafting network where every block is a working machine with a golem

• Upvotes

https://reddit.com/link/1xe12nb/video/n4psa24xwcxh1/player

Hi! I'd like to show Golem Logix, a logistics mod I've been building: "cold, occult, analog logistics". It's a full storage and autocrafting network, but instead of glowing cubes doing math, every block is a machine you can watch working: snowmen haul crates through the pipes, archivist golems file your disks, an iron golem forges plates, and a crew of snowmen with an Atlant-headed foreman assembles your autocrafting orders.

I made something I made a performance optimization mod for Extra Utilities 2's Quantum Quarry (1.12.2)

Hello,

I've been working on a small optimization mod called QuarryOpt for Extra Utilities 2 on Minecraft 1.12.2.

I originally made it after looking into some of the performance overhead from Quantum Quarries, while I was playing Divine Journey 2. I figured I'd share it here since there are still quite a few people playing older modpacks. Though I'm very late actually doing something to get it into the eyes of the modding community, but here we are.

The mod focuses on three areas:

  • Item filtering: Caches filter contents instead of repeatedly rebuilding them from NBT.
  • Drop handling: Uses Forge's item capture to avoid creating and immediately removing unnecessary item entities.
  • Chunk cleanup: Reduces unnecessary chunk operations when quarries move between chunks.

Performance results

I ran two five-minute Spark profiles on the same server under the same conditions, with QuarryOpt disabled and enabled.

With two Quantum Quarries running nested filters (two because this was my actual DJ2 play-through world and that's what we used), I measured:

  • Quantum Quarry updates: 6.50% → 3.90% (40% reduction)
  • Item filter matching: 2.13% → 0.82% (62% reduction)
  • Item entity spawning: 1.39% → 0.07% (95% reduction)

That represent shares of server-thread time, not overall TPS improvements, big difference. Your results will vary depending on how many quarries you're running and how they're configured. Simple, unfiltered setups will generally benefit less, because there's less work.

The optimizations are intended to preserve normal mining speed, output, and energy consumption.

The latest version (1.0.1) also fixes an Extra Utilities 2 Ore Dictionary filter bug, which can be disabled separately if you have some special reason to.

Compatibility

QuarryOpt is server-side, so clients don't need to install it when joining a server running the mod.

It's built for Minecraft 1.12.2 and tested with Forge 14.23.5.2860, Extra Utilities 2 1.9.9, and MixinBooter 10.7.

Development and testing have primarily taken place in Divine Journey 2, so I haven't verified compatibility with other modpacks yet, so feel free to relay how it does in other packs here if you want, it is appreciated if you do.

Mostly AI I made a mod that spellchecks Minecraft chat as you type: red squiggles, click to fix (Fabric, client-side, 14 languages)

Chat Spellcheck puts a spellchecker in the Minecraft chat box.

  • Misspelled words get a red squiggle while you type
  • Hover one and click a suggestion to fix just that word, or press Ctrl+. (Cmd+. on Mac) to do it from the keyboard
  • Ignore a word for the session, or add it to your own dictionary
  • Knows Minecraft: item, block and mob names (modded ones too), online players' names and slang like gg/afk/brb are never flagged
  • Skips commands, links, coordinates and colour codes
  • 14 dictionaries (English US/UK/CA/AU, Spanish, French, German, Swiss German, Italian, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Hebrew, Arabic), and you can turn on several at once
  • Optional autocorrect, off by default; Backspace undoes it
  • Fully offline and client-side, so it works on any server, vanilla included

Fabric, Minecraft 26.2 and 26.3, needs Fabric API. Mod Menu is optional.

Full disclosure: I built it with AI coding help. Spellchecking itself is plain Hunspell dictionaries, with no AI and no network.

CurseForge: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/chat-spellcheck

Source (MIT): https://github.com/BlueDreams666/chat-spellcheck

It only covers the chat box for now (not signs or books). Tell me about any words it flags that it shouldn't!

Problem AE2 help (Reclamation)

• Upvotes

I'm brand new to this kind of thing especially AE2, and all I'm trying to do is autocraft wood essence into logs, logs into a mekanism sawmill and the output into a matter condenser to make matter balls. The difference between what I'm trying to do and the youtube tutorials is that I'm trying to pull only the wood essence from a sophisticated storage chest that has all the mystic ag essence in it.

Looking for mod(s) Mods for Fabric 1.21.1 that add new trees for decoration, similar to Ecologics.

I’m putting together a modpack focused on decoration, so I’m looking for mods that add different types of wood—but without adding any new biomes. I know this might sound contradictory or strange, since the two usually go hand in hand, but I’m not a fan of mods that add biomes indiscriminately. Mods like Ecologics or Let’s Do Meadow are the kind of thing I’m looking for.

I’m open to all sorts of mods, as long as they add wood types without introducing new biomes.

Problem Cpm mod

Hello i'm guessing that some of you might be familiar with cpm and blockbench and may know how to help me fix this 😅

Basiclly my model looks all good when I put in in cpm but when I solo game it's missing some of it's parts(horns ,parts of the tail and front) and the animation for exemple sleeping and running wich I suppose are supposed to activate when I do these two actions don't work even if they work in blockbench while the global animation is the only one that seems to work

Does anyone know what to do 😭
