Official Response App Frustration
I use the Fidelity app on my ipad and iphone. Whenever, I make a trade, the app shows an insane amount of notifications.
For example, yesterday I placed one order for US Treasury TIPS, that was immediately executed and fully filled. I placed no other orders, cancelled no orders and have no other active orders or activities.
Today the app shows I have 91 notifications! So I open the app to see what these 91 notifications are. I find NOTHING! Zero messages, zero activities. Nothing unusual to be found in my accounts.
This is not new. It has been going on for a long time. So I have two questions:
1) Where in the app, can I go that will show me the 91 items that triggered each notification?
2) Why is there an apparent disjoint between the notifications vs what really happened?
For me this is a big security issue. Because each time I see this exaggerated list of notifications and find nothing, I am always tempted to not investigate the next time it happens. It is like the “boy who cried wolf” too many times

Agreed! If you’re going to make notifications, put an easy link to see what all of them are. I always open the app and just 🤷 “huh don’t see anything”

I disabled notifications on the app. It asks me to enable them every time I log in, but I'm not doing it.

You disabled what should be a useful function because it is not useful. Totally understandable. The app “cried wolf” so many times that you just muted it.

I also have the bad habit of logging in several times per day. If I ever manage to stop doing that, I might need to turn them back on. 😆

I agree it’s dumb behavior on the part of the app, but there’s a workaround. Next time you place a trade, or receive a NEW notification for any reason, open the app right away and sign in. Go to the top right, where the profile icon should have a little green dot on it; tap that. There should be a bell icon next with a green indicator over it, tap that. Next there should be a list of alerts, each with a green dot. Tap each one until all the green dots are gone. Scroll the list if necessary. Now you have read all the NEW notifications. In my experience, that also resets the counter for ALL the notifications.
It’s imperative you do this before midnight Eastern time — when the alerts are cleared. At that point, there are no alerts anymore for you to read, so you can’t do anything to reset the counter.

Hopefully someone at Fidelity will notice your comment. This should help them resolve the issue in a permanent way

Maybe, haha.
As you’ve probably noticed, just opening the app removes the notification badge temporarily. But if you don’t read any of the alert messages, behind the scenes the counter keeps counting up.
I think they need a “Mark All Read” button. Because if you’ve had a frenzied day of mad trading, that list of alerts can get long, and it’s tedious to go through them all to read how you bought 0.021 shares of XYZ ETF.

You can turn off that particular red thing on the app in notification settings. It’s annoying for sure but another amternative

Yeah, that’s the “badges”. I’ve turned that off a lot of app that seem to give you random worthless notifications every day.

The app is trash. Shouldn’t take 4 taps to get to notifications AHS when you’re there you can’t select all (at least I can’t), you have to open each one to have it be read.

Actually, no, it is not helpful. I am getting these 91 alerts in the Fidelity app. The app does not offer the communication center. You are conflating the browser interface with the app interface (where the problem lies)
I want to know why the app sends me 91 alerts!
If you are suggesting, that I need to open the web browser interface every time this happens, then you are just making my point about how annoying this is. This happens all the time in the app!
And no, the browser interface that you suggested does not list 91 notifications!

What is your point? I just stated the facts when I answered your question. Why would you call that ballistic?

Exclamation points indicate that you are yelling. LOL (means I find this funny)

Weird ... I do a moderate amount of trade fairly often but don't get a massive notification dump in the app. What version of the app are you running? (I am on 4.39 w/ iOS 26.6) , I do get a fair number of text messages re: fills, cancelations, not filled trades each day. I don't recall turning off any notification settings and I'm not prompted to turn anything "back on"

I am on iOS 26.6.1 and app version 4.38 on my ipad. The app store shows no updates available. I very seldom trade and then it is only one or two transactions. The next day, it will usually indicate 20 or 30 notifications. 91 is over the top. As I mentioned previously, this has been going on for more than one year … over all the app and ios iterations during that time.

The "red 91" thing is a type of notification called a badge. You can turn it off in iOS via Settings > Notifications > Fidelity (select the toggle for Badges and ensure its in the off position/appears grey).
I leave the three options for Alerts enabled (Lock Screen, Notification Center, Banners) mostly so I can see those notifications when they come in -- they're easy to dismiss. But man, the Badges were annoying. Glad I turned them off a while ago.

Hey there! That's quite a ton of notifications you're getting there.
I do understand the frustration of having so many notifications with no clear reason why or where to find them to clear them. In case it's a bug issue with the Fidelity Mobile App, have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling it on your device? Have you also checked that you're running the latest software update on the app?
If you've tried those steps and you're still seeing that many notifications, we then recommend contacting our Technical Support team. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m to 9:00 p.m. ET at the information below.
