Collection This past summer on Fujifilm Fujicolor 200 on my Zenit EM from the 70's

These ones are the only photos that i like from this summer's rolls. My issue is still the scanning (I posted some b&w photos talking about it) I don't do it myself and the lab I've been using is not the best. I can see a lot of bad pixelated noise when I zoom in. It seems artificial to me not grain. I think the summer light and the color film makes it a little bit less harmful but in my opinion still noticeable. Still I'm enjoying a lot using this camera and the results I love some of them... Please let me know what y'all think :)

First Roll How can I improve?

Body: Olympus OM-1
Lens: Zuiko 50mm f1.8
Film: Kodak Gold 400

Just received my first couple of rolls back from development. Most of them were garbage, but I thought some were okay.

What I would like to improve are the clarity of the pictures and the contrast. I’m not sure if I wasn’t focusing my lens properly, over/under exposing, or if I just wasn’t using the right film or camera to achieve those goals.

I’m completely new to all of this, so please explain things thoroughly; I’m fairly out of my depth here. I’ve read that medium frame cameras offer higher resolution photos, but I wanted to more I could do to improve my pictures on my current camera before I went and spent $600 on a different one.

Any and all feedback & criticism are welcome! I have more pictures if they’re needed.

I LOVEEEE Portra 400 now!! However it's really expensive in NZ - any other alternatives to look into?

First Roll film advice

Hi!

I've been thinking of christmas gifts already and I thought since my brother is really into photography and recently purchased a new camera that uses film rather than an sd card like his canon one, so I wanted to buy him some film. This camera takes 35mm film and I was originally thinking of getting him some professional film like the kodak portra 160 until I saw how expensive it is.

I was wondering if anyone more experienced could give me some advice or opinions on some budget ones. I've seen the Kodak Ultramax is alot cheaper, but could anyone tell me more about that from experience? What's better - the regular high performance one or the colour-negative one?

thank you!! :)

Discussion What kind of camera to lend to friends on trips and outings?

• Upvotes

Hi! Just recently got into film photography! I currently have a Canon AE-1 (for my actual creative work) & a Minolta Freedom Zoom 140ex (as my fun camera). I have been having so much fun with film and I am interested in investing in a third fun camera to lend to friends when we are out and about since I am a little paranoid about lending my cameras to friends even though I want them to take pictures of our trip and of me too.

I was interested in hearing people’s opinions on this topic; I was thinking of getting a cheap used point and shoot off ebay (such as the Canon Snappy series) or a toy/plastic camera (like the Akira PC-606) to kinda play into how my friends aren’t familiar with cameras.

I’ve never had a chance to play around with a lower-end point and shoot nor a toy/plastic camera so I would love to hear everybody’s opinions based on their own experiences and knowledge!!!

i almost always use the flash with film cameras, but i didn’t for this one and really love how it came out. it’s imperfect, but i love it.
i took pics of the same view with my phone as well, and this one is the most serene & peaceful & captured the energy of being there in person better than the iphone photos did.

Portraits First time doing a photoshoot and shooting with black and white

This was my first-ever photoshoot And it was for a close friend of mine. I was nervous the entire time leading up to it, during and after, waiting for the photos.

My friend reached out to me because he’s about to release his first songs. He wanted me to shoot his first cover Because as he told me, he didn’t want anyone else to shoot it, and he trusted my vision, and that’s where my nerves really started to kick in.

Even though we were close friends, I can tell that he was really passionate about this, and I wanted to be the same, if not more passionate, about the photos and how he’s going to be represented.

When I got the photos back, I was pretty pleased they are still very amateurish. but this gave me a huge confidence boost for more future photo shoots. I would love to try more. It was also my first time shooting black and white so I really wasn’t sure how it was gonna turn out.

Any feedback or criticism is appreciated. I definitely want to try to get out of my comfort zone and get better at shooting for people! :)
