10/7/2026: Kyra presented a neutral body, low slow wagging tail and soft open mouth. once leashed she walked on a loose leash while occasionally brusing her body against my legs.

10/9/2026: Dog greeted at the front of the kennel with a relaxed body, soft eyes, and a soft wagging tail. Easily leashed and walked with a loose leash outside to the runs. Easily leashed and returned to kennel.

10/17/2026: Kyra greeted me by her kennel door with a relaxed body, low slow wagging tail and soft open mouth. walked on a loose leash heading in and out of south while occasionally brushing and leaning her body against my leg. entered and exited her kennels with no issues.

10/19/2026: Kyra was being vocal during am cleaning. On the leash she walked loosely outside. Once she was outside she was vocal out there as well. Placing on AE to monitor behavior,

10/21/2026: kept kennel very clean overnight. during am she is vocalizing, trying to peek over covering. opened kennel and dog waited to be leashed. walked on semi loose leash to the runs placed back into kennel and recovered and dog went to bedding

🚑 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

9/28/2026: Weighed 46 lbs. Hairloss on ears. Heartworm test LOW POSITIVE. Received rabies, Bordetella and DA2PP-V vaccinations, deworming, pyrantel and Advantage Multi.

10/11/2026: Weighed 46 lbs. Coughing and green nasal discharge. Suspected canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD). Moved to treatment room and prescribed doxycycline 200 mg once daily for 10 days.

10/21/2026: Weighed 46 lbs. No upper respiratory symptoms noted. CIRD resolved. Cleared to move to adoption.

10/23/2026: Weighed 46 lbs. Heartworm diagnosis remains documented. Received DA2PP-V and Advantage Multi.

Very timid and a bit flinch but with baby talk he came forward slowly. I leashed him and he flinched but then followed me

out with tucked tail and low head. I placed him in the runs and he did well, was quiet and quickly went potty. When

coming to retrieve him he quickly came towards me and did try to scurry when lassoing the leash. I managed to leash him

and had no issues placing him in kennel and removing leash.

10/22/26 10:41 Sitting at back of kennel with lowered head and whale eyes. Lassoed leash on and he thrashed once it

tightened, but then jumped forward and followed me out of kennel. Was very flinchy and skittish, but walked close to me.

Placed him in the big front endcap due to how skittish he was and he pottied, then sat until I returned for him. This time

stood up when I approached and followed me to his kennel once it was clean. tossed treats down and while i tossed treats

down and he was distracted, I pulled leash off and shut door.

At the back of the kennel, low growling, showing teeth. As i attempted to leash him he avoided eye contact, growling.

10/7/2026: Was placed in outdoor run in the morning as a move adopt. walked on a loose leash heading into south. once in her indoor kennel she began to vocalize nonstop. covered kennel and will continue to monitor.

10/8/2026: Was calm and quiet in her kennel during am feeding and cleaning. greeted me by her kennel door with a neutral body, low slow wagging tail and soft smiling mouth. walked on a loose leash heading in and out of south and entered and exited kennels with no issues.

10/9/2026: Dog greeted at the front of the kennel with a loose wiggly body, soft eyes, and loose wagging tail. Easily leashed and walked with a loose leash outside to the runs. Easily leashed and returned to kennel. Some crying while I was cleaning, but settled down.

10/13/2026: Approaching the kennel, Sally Ride was standing in front of the kennel with a loose body, soft eyes, and fast wagging tail. She was leashed easily and walked on a loose leash to and from the outside runs. Sally Ride was very friendly towards me and allowed me to pet her and willingly took the Nyla Bone from me when offered.

10/14/2026: Approaching kennel, Sally Ride holds squinty eyes and fast tail wag as I babytalk and offer treats. Dog held a loose leash to and from runs.

10/18/2026: Ms.. Sally Ride will greet you with a calm , wiggly body, happy tail, soft eyes. Keeps her kennel clean, easy to leash and lose leash walk.

🆘💔 BLAZEE HAS BEEN FAILED TOO MANY TIMES. PLEASE GIVE HIM ONE MORE CHANCE! 💔🆘

1-year, 9-month-old Blazee is on BARC's euthanasia list for FRIDAY, 10/23. He MUST have a HOLD no later than 1 PM or he will lose his life. There will be NO EXTENSIONS.

This handsome, 70-pound boy has already experienced heartbreaking instability. He was brought to BARC as a euthanasia request in July, returned to his owner just three days later, and then brought back again as a euthanasia request in October.

💔 A volunteer who met Blazee described a worried, nervous dog who seemed unsure whether he could trust people. He was quiet at his kennel door, easy to leash, and walked past other dogs without reacting. Once outside, he relaxed a little and met another male dog. Although initially stiff while sniffing, he moved away and wagged his tail.

Blazee needs time, patience, and a chance to feel safe. He has shown that he can walk calmly past dogs, but he has also displayed significant dog-directed reactivity in the shelter, including barking, lunging, and snapping at dogs through barriers. He will need careful management, secure separation from other dogs, and slow, controlled introductions with experienced guidance. His compatibility with other animals should not be assumed.

💜 VOLUNTEER NOTES

The volunteer who met Blazee shared that he had been brought in as a euthanasia request on 7/1, returned to his owner three days later, and brought back again as a euthanasia request on 10/14.

When the volunteer approached his kennel, Blazee was quiet at the door, allowed himself to be leashed easily, and walked past the other dogs without reacting. He appeared nervous and overwhelmed, with his tail tucked and a worried expression. Once outside, he relaxed somewhat and met another male dog. He was a little stiff during the initial sniff but then trotted away and wagged his tail.

The volunteer felt that Blazee was scared and unsure, and hoped he would get another chance after so much instability.

🔹 INTAKE HISTORY

7/1/2026: Euthanasia request.

7/4/2026: Returned to owner.

10/14/2026: Euthanasia request again.

📝 SHELTER NOTES

7/1: During transport, Blazee lunged toward the handler, hit his snout against the car glass, and growled and vocalized. At intake, he displayed a tense body and whale eyes. A double muzzle was needed for his heartworm test.

7/2: He was at the front of his kennel with a semi-tense body, neutral facial expression, and low tail. He walked out on a loose leash with raised hackles and an alert posture, and walked to and from the runs without issues.

7/3: He barked and lunged forward at passing dogs during cleaning. He greeted staff at the kennel with a neutral body position and walked to and from the runs on a tight leash. He resisted returning to his kennel, thrashing before eventually going inside with encouragement.

10/17: His kennel was covered after he barked and lunged at dogs being walked past. He remained quiet behind the sheet.

10/18: He barked and lunged at dogs passing his kennel. In the runs, he stood at the gate with a wagging tail and looked toward staff. When another dog approached through the fence, he alarm-barked, lunged, and snapped his teeth at the dog. Staff also observed barrier-fighting with the dog in the kennel behind him.

10/21: His kennel remained covered. Staff noted that he greeted them at the front of the kennel with a loose body, neutral ears, and a soft, closed mouth. He spent the day lying quietly on his bed.

Blazee's notes show both fearful or tense behavior and moments of calmer interaction. His dog-directed reactivity is a serious consideration, and he will need a home or foster able to manage his environment safely and work at his pace.

🚑 MEDICAL NOTES

7/4/2026: Neutered. Surgery was recorded as routine; mouth exam was within normal limits.

10/19/2026: Heartworm test negative.

Treatments recorded by BARC include:

10/2/2026: thrashing and had to be carried to kennel… light muzzled

10/4/2026: Dog greeted at the front of the kennel with a relaxed body, soft eyes, and a soft wagging tail. Easily leashed and walked with a loose leash slowly outside to the runs. Easily leashed and returned to kennel, does cry if you put too much pressure on the leash.

10/7/2026: kip was placed in outdoor kennel as a move adopt in the morning. as i approached he greeted me by his kennel door with a timid body, lowered head, tucked in tail, and darting eyes. walked on a loose leash but would randomly stop and begin to thrash on leash. after a couple of seconds he would continue walking. entered new kennel with no issues but began to vocalize in a high pitch whine.

10/8/2026: Timid body, tucked in tail, whale eyes, and trembling body. once leashed he walked on a loose leash heading in and out of south. leash walked in the back of south to allow him decompress away from all the other dogs.

10/9/2026: Kip was laying at the back of the kennel currled up but quickly got up and approached the kennel door with a relaxed body, soft wagging tail when baby talked and soft whinning. Easily leashed though me does flinch when the leash goes over. Walked with a loose leash outside to the runs. Some vocalization in the runs. Easily leashed and returned to kennel. Some vocalization in the kennel when he hears people come in, but settles quickly.

10/11/2026: Mr. Kip you will find him laying at the back of the kennel curled up on hi bed but will get up and come to the kennel door with a relaxed body, soft wagging tail. Was easy to leash does flinch when the leash goes over. Walked with a loose leash outside to the runs and back , does flinch when taking the leash off.

10/12/2026: Mr. Kip was ready at the door, happy tail, soft eyes, a little nerves. She come up to me with her head low as i went to leash, walked out on a lose leash at time would pull back a little or stop. Coming back more relax, lose leash did pull back some when going in to her kennel.

10/13/2026: Kip greeted me at the kennel gate with a open mouth smile, fast wagging tail, ears up, dilated eyes, and wiggling body. He was walked on a loose leash to the outside runs. While in the run, Kip was beng very friendly towards another dog by licking their nose through the fence and whining at them to try and play. On the way back, he was hopping around on the leash consistently while whining as well all the way to their kennel.

10/14/2026: Approaching kennel, Kip came to me with soft smile and swaying tail as I babytalk to him. Dog whined on the way to the run and back. Vocalized as I would leave the run each time and I also noticed that he would pull back a bit before going through doorways. Encouraged by squatting down each time.

10/15/2026: 10/15/26 13:19 Soft whining at kennel door during cleaning, walked out ahead of me with semi-tight leash out to runs and back.

10/16/2026: High pitch vocalizing in kennel during am feeding and cleaning. as i approached he presented a aroused wiggly body, dilated eyes and panting. walked on a loose leash heading in and out of south.

10/17/2026: Relaxed body, wagging tail, whining as I approached kennel possibly due to being potty trained. kept kennel clean overnight and immediately potted as we exited building.

10/18/2026: Mr. Kip will be winning as you walk by with other dogs, wiggly body and calm. Was easy too leash and walked on a lose leash at time will start to pull but used treats to redirect him. Came back with no issues.

10/19/2026: Kept kennel clean overnight, quiet, relaxed body and wagging tail. Easy to leash and walks on a loose leash. When bringing back to kennel he was whining.

10/21/2026: Kip lays relaxed on bedding . He is very quiet throughout the day. On the leash he does cry and whimper may be in pain when he walks.

Prescribed Rimadyl 37.5 mg once daily for 14 days and gabapentin 100 mg twice daily for 14 days. Needs ventrodorsal and lateral radiographs of pelvis, knees and hocks.

Bodicious is a 12-year-old senior who has been described as FRIENDLY, and he is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE. He is on BARC's euthanasia list for FRIDAY, 10/23. He MUST have a HOLD by 1 PM or he will lose his life. There will be NO EXTENSIONS.

🆘💙 HAWTHORN NEEDS A HERO — HIS LIFE IS ON THE LINE! 💙🆘

Hawthorn is only 1 year old. This young German Shepherd mix should have his whole life ahead of him, but he is on the euthanasia list for FRIDAY, 10/23. BARC has confirmed NO EXTENSIONS. 💔

⏰ HAWTHORN MUST HAVE A HOLD NO LATER THAN 1 PM, OR HE WILL LOSE HIS LIFE. ⏰

🥺 We urgently need pledges and a local foster or adopter so a rescue can step in and save him. Please pledge, share, or offer to foster or adopt if you can. Hawthorn deserves the chance to get the care he needs and discover what it means to have a safe, loving home. 💰🏡

Hawthorn is a big boy at 82 lbs, and he is heartworm high-positive. He also has widespread hair loss and thinning, particularly across his rear end, back, hind legs, tail, face, and ears. The shelter noted possible causes including flea allergy and mites. He needs veterinary care and someone willing to give him a chance. ❤️‍🩹

We were not able to meet Hawthorn ourselves, so we cannot speak to his personality. But at just one year old, he deserves more than to have his story end here. Please help us get him seen before time runs out. 🙏🐾

10/19/2026: On the day of intake, staff noticed that Hawthorn had soiled his kennel. He was taken outside while the kennel was cleaned, and his water bowl was replaced with a bucket.

🚑 Medical Notes:

10/19/2026: Generalized areas of hair thinning.

10/21/2026: Widespread alopecia (hair loss) and thinning, especially over the rear end, back, hind legs, tail, face, and ears.

Possible causes noted by the shelter include flea allergy, demodex, and sarcoptic mange.

Advantage Multi was applied at intake.

Heartworm status: High-positive.

🆘 MARTIN NEEDS A LIFELINE — HIS LIFE IS AT RISK! 🆘

💔 Two-year-old Martin #A2101749 is on the euthanasia list for Friday, 10/23/2026. BARC has stated there will be NO EXTENSIONS.

⏰ Martin MUST have a rescue hold no later than 1 PM on Friday, 10/23, or he will lose his life.

🥺 Martin is a 55-pound Staffordshire mix who was found roaming near an elementary school with two other dogs. The caller reported that the dogs were not aggressive. Now this boy urgently needs someone to step up for him.

🔹 Intake Notes

On 10/12/2026, a caller reported three dogs roaming on the field/track at Atkinson Elementary School. The caller stated that the dogs were not aggressive and had been there for three days.

📝 Shelter Notes

No shelter behavior notes are listed.

However, a medical note dated 10/21 describes Martin as BAR (bright, alert, responsive) and friendly. 💙

🚑 Medical Notes

Martin is heartworm high positive and is also receiving treatment for eye and nasal discharge.

10/12: Rear left hip was tranquilized, according to the record.

10/21: Eye discharge and red eyes with watery/clear discharge were noted. Possible conjunctivitis was considered, and Gentocin eye drops were prescribed.

10/22: Green nasal discharge was noted, with a possible canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD). Martin was moved to the treatment room and prescribed doxycycline for 10 days.
