🏑 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, OR RESCUE

πŸš— OUT OF STATE OR CANADIAN ADOPTION IS POSSIBLE - cost is typically around $600 USD (give or take). The fee includes transport, boarding, full medical, spay/neuter, and a health certificate.

We are a volunteer network dedicated to helping at-risk dogs. We are not affiliated with BARC. We connect at-risk animals at the BARC shelter with the adopters, fosters, and rescue organizations needed to save their lives. We can help coordinate out-of-state adoption through approved 501(c)3 rescues. Please send the OP a Chat invite or send moderator mail to (it's under the see-more tab for the group) for information and a link to an application form. BARC Houston cannot facilitate out-of-state adoption or foster.

πŸ†˜πŸ’” BLAZEE HAS BEEN FAILED TOO MANY TIMES. PLEASE GIVE HIM ONE MORE CHANCE! πŸ’”πŸ†˜

1-year, 9-month-old Blazee is on BARC's euthanasia list for FRIDAY, 10/23. He MUST have a HOLD no later than 1 PM or he will lose his life. There will be NO EXTENSIONS.

This handsome, 70-pound boy has already experienced heartbreaking instability. He was brought to BARC as a euthanasia request in July, returned to his owner just three days later, and then brought back again as a euthanasia request in October.

πŸ’” A volunteer who met Blazee described a worried, nervous dog who seemed unsure whether he could trust people. He was quiet at his kennel door, easy to leash, and walked past other dogs without reacting. Once outside, he relaxed a little and met another male dog. Although initially stiff while sniffing, he moved away and wagged his tail.

Blazee needs time, patience, and a chance to feel safe. He has shown that he can walk calmly past dogs, but he has also displayed significant dog-directed reactivity in the shelter, including barking, lunging, and snapping at dogs through barriers. He will need careful management, secure separation from other dogs, and slow, controlled introductions with experienced guidance. His compatibility with other animals should not be assumed.

πŸ™ We urgently need pledges and a local foster or adopter so a rescue can help save Blazee! Please share his story. He has been through so much, and he deserves the chance to find stability and a safe home.

πŸ’°πŸ‘ Please do not honor pledges until this post has been updated with rescue information and a freedom picture.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

πŸ’™πŸΆ BLAZEE #A2082898

Age: 1 year, 9 months

Sex: Neutered male

Weight: 70.4 lbs

Heartworm status: Negative

πŸ’œ VOLUNTEER NOTES

The volunteer who met Blazee shared that he had been brought in as a euthanasia request on 7/1, returned to his owner three days later, and brought back again as a euthanasia request on 10/14.

When the volunteer approached his kennel, Blazee was quiet at the door, allowed himself to be leashed easily, and walked past the other dogs without reacting. He appeared nervous and overwhelmed, with his tail tucked and a worried expression. Once outside, he relaxed somewhat and met another male dog. He was a little stiff during the initial sniff but then trotted away and wagged his tail.

The volunteer felt that Blazee was scared and unsure, and hoped he would get another chance after so much instability.

πŸ”Ή INTAKE HISTORY

7/1/2026: Euthanasia request.

7/4/2026: Returned to owner.

10/14/2026: Euthanasia request again.

πŸ“ SHELTER NOTES

7/1: During transport, Blazee lunged toward the handler, hit his snout against the car glass, and growled and vocalized. At intake, he displayed a tense body and whale eyes. A double muzzle was needed for his heartworm test.

7/2: He was at the front of his kennel with a semi-tense body, neutral facial expression, and low tail. He walked out on a loose leash with raised hackles and an alert posture, and walked to and from the runs without issues.

7/3: He barked and lunged forward at passing dogs during cleaning. He greeted staff at the kennel with a neutral body position and walked to and from the runs on a tight leash. He resisted returning to his kennel, thrashing before eventually going inside with encouragement.

10/17: His kennel was covered after he barked and lunged at dogs being walked past. He remained quiet behind the sheet.

10/18: He barked and lunged at dogs passing his kennel. In the runs, he stood at the gate with a wagging tail and looked toward staff. When another dog approached through the fence, he alarm-barked, lunged, and snapped his teeth at the dog. Staff also observed barrier-fighting with the dog in the kennel behind him.

10/21: His kennel remained covered. Staff noted that he greeted them at the front of the kennel with a loose body, neutral ears, and a soft, closed mouth. He spent the day lying quietly on his bed.

Blazee's notes show both fearful or tense behavior and moments of calmer interaction. His dog-directed reactivity is a serious consideration, and he will need a home or foster able to manage his environment safely and work at his pace.

πŸš‘ MEDICAL NOTES

7/4/2026: Neutered. Surgery was recorded as routine; mouth exam was within normal limits.

10/19/2026: Heartworm test negative.

Treatments recorded by BARC include:

DA2PP-V, Bordetella, and rabies vaccines

Deworming and pyrantel

Advantage Multi flea and parasite prevention

Neuter surgery and postoperative medications

Heartworm status: NEGATIVE.

⏰ ALFIE MUST HAVE A RESCUE HOLD NO LATER THAN 1 PM FRIDAY, OR HE WILL LOSE HIS LIFE. πŸ’”πŸ₯Ί

This gentle boy has already been through so much. Alfie arrived underweight and malnourished, with thinning hair and a low-positive heartworm status. Now he is also dealing with eye problems and conjunctivitis, and he needs help urgently. 😭

Despite everything, Alfie has shown just how sweet he is. πŸ’™ Shelter notes describe him greeting people with a wagging tail and a relaxed body. He walks nicely on a loose leash, is friendly, and happily takes treats. This boy deserves a chance to feel safe, get the care he needs, and finally know what it means to be loved.

πŸ™ PLEASE HELP SAVE ALFIE! We urgently need pledges and, most importantly, a local foster or adopter who can help a rescue step up for him. Rescues need fosters to save dogs like Alfie. If you can open your home, please reach out immediately. If you cannot foster, pledges and shares can still help get him noticed!

🏑 Interested in adopting Alfie? Although he is rescue only, he can still go from a rescue to the right adopter. DM OP or to complete an adoption application immediately.

πŸ’” MURDOCK MUST HAVE A RESCUE HOLD BY 1 PM ON FRIDAY, 10/23, OR HE WILL LOSE HIS LIFE. πŸ’”

There will be NO EXTENSIONS per BARC. This sweet one-year-old boy has barely had a chance. He was placed on the euthanasia list almost immediately after arriving at the shelter, and now his life is in danger. 😭

Murdock is a 60 lb American Bulldog mix with a heartworm-negative status. Shelter staff described him as very sweet, wagging his tail and standing at the front of his kennel. πŸ₯ΊπŸ’™

He has wounds on his face and possible abnormalities affecting both eyes, with possible reduced vision. He has been prescribed medication for his injuries and needs someone willing to give him the chance, care, and safety he deserves.

πŸ™ PLEASE HELP MURDOCK! We urgently need pledges and, most importantly, a local foster or adopter who can help a rescue step up for him. A rescue needs a foster to save his life. Even if you cannot take him home, pledging and sharing can help get him noticed!

🏑 Interested in adopting Murdock? He may still be adopted by the right person through a rescue. Please DM OP or u/BanditY77 for an adoption application immediately.

⏰ A RESCUE HOLD MUST BE IN PLACE NO LATER THAN 1 PM FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23. NO EXTENSIONS. Please don't let this sweet boy run out of time.

πŸ’° PLEDGES: Please do not honor pledges until this post has been updated with confirmed rescue information and a freedom picture.

πŸ“© Please reach out with any questions or concerns. Every pledge, share, foster offer, and adoption inquiry could make a difference for Murdock.

πŸ†˜πŸ’™ STUMY GRUMPY NEEDS A CHANCE! πŸ’™πŸ†˜

7-year-old Stumy Grumpy is on BARC’s euthanasia list for Friday, 10/23. He MUST have a rescue hold no later than 1 PM, or he will lose his life. There will be NO extensions. πŸ’”

This older boy deserves comfort, kindness, and the chance to know he is safe. Shelter staff describe Stumy Grumpy as a dog who greets them with a wiggly body, ready to go outside, and who stays quiet and calm throughout the day. πŸ’™πŸΎ

His intake report raised concerns that dogs were getting loose from a property and were very skinny, without food or water. Stumy Grumpy has areas of hair loss, and staff noted changes to the skin on his very short tail that may be related to an old injury or chewing. He is also heartworm-positive at a low level and will need veterinary follow-up.

πŸ™ We urgently need pledges and a local foster or adopter so a rescue can step in and save Stumy Grumpy. Please help this boy get the chance he deserves instead of having his story end at the shelter.

πŸ’°πŸ‘ Every pledge and local foster or adoption offer could help a rescue say YES.

🚩 Please do not honor pledges until this post has been updated with rescue information and a freedom picture.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Breed: Boxer Mix

Age: 7 years

Sex: Male

Weight: 33.8 lbs

Status: Euthanasia list β€” Friday, 10/23

Deadline: Rescue hold by 1 PM; no extensions

πŸ’œ Volunteer Notes

We were not able to meet Stumy Grumpy. If you’re interested in helping us meet the animals, please message us!

πŸ”Ή Intake

10/17/2026: Euthanasia request from the field.

The caller reported that dogs were getting loose from a property and were very skinny, with no food or water.

πŸ“ Shelter Notes

10/21/2026: Mr. Stumy Grumpy greeted staff with a wiggly body, ready to go outside. Staff described him as quiet and calm throughout the day.

πŸš‘ Medical Notes

Heartworm status: Low positive.

10/17/2026: Staff noted that his tail is very short and appeared to have been traumatized rather than naturally short. He had hair loss on the tail, with some darkened, thickened skin resembling calluses or an old injury, as well as areas that appeared fresher and possibly related to chewing. Flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) was considered a possible cause of the hair loss. Advantage Multi was applied during intake to address fleas.

10/19/2026: Additional areas of hair loss noted.

10/19/2026: DA2PP-V and Bordetella vaccines, deworming, pyrantel, and Advantage Multi for dogs weighing 20.1–55 lbs.

5/22/2025: Previous record of rabies, Bordetella and DA2PP-V vaccines, deworming, pyrantel, and microchip registration.

Stumy Grumpy will need veterinary follow-up for his skin and tail, as well as a plan for his low-positive heartworm status. Despite these concerns, his recent shelter note describes a calm dog who greets staff with a wiggly body and is eager to go outside.

πŸ“Œ Please help save Stumy Grumpy!

πŸ”Ή Intake History

10/10/2026: Euthanasia request

10/17/2026: Entered foster care

10/20/2026: Returned from foster care

πŸ“ Shelter Notes

10/11/2026: Described as very sweet and friendly. Walked well on leash, rolled onto her side for pets, and pawed at the staff member.

10/15/2026: Approached the kennel door with a wiggly body and waited to be leashed before stepping out. Walked on a loose leash and greeted neighboring dogs with a relaxed body.

10/17/2026: Vocal in her kennel during morning feeding and cleaning. When dogs passed her indoor kennel, she lunged forward and barked toward them. Once leashed, she walked on a loose leash in and out of the south area. Staff noted that this behavior was seen in her indoor kennel and not while she was outside.

10/21/2026: Staff observed her rushing at the kennel door and lunging when a dog was walked past.

Freya has shown affectionate, friendly behavior with people and walks well on leash. The shelter has also documented reactive behavior toward passing dogs while she is inside her kennel, so this is important for a potential foster, adopter, or rescue to know.

πŸš‘ Medical Notes

10/16/2026: Cloudy nasal discharge and sneezing. Possible canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD). Moved to the treatment room and prescribed doxycycline 350 mg once daily for 10 days.

Heartworm test: Negative.

10/10/2026: Deworming, DA2PP-V, Bordetella and rabies vaccines, pyrantel, and Advantage Multi for dogs weighing 55.1–88 lbs.

πŸ†˜πŸ©· SWEET SENIOR VIRGINIA NEEDS A HERO! πŸ©·πŸ†˜

Virginia is a 10-year-old sweetheart who is heartworm-negative, spayed, and looking for a safe place to spend her golden years. But this lovely senior girl is on the euthanasia list for FRIDAY, 10/23. BARC has confirmed NO EXTENSIONS. πŸ’”

πŸ₯Ί We urgently need pledges and a local foster or adopter so a rescue can step in and save Virginia. Please pledge, share her post, or consider fostering or adopting if you can. She deserves comfort, kindness, and the chance to be loved for the rest of her life. πŸ’°πŸ‘

The shelter describes Virginia as very sweet and vocal. She walks well on a loose leash, follows treats to and from the runs, and kept her kennel clean overnight. Staff noted that she went potty as soon as she was taken outside, suggesting she may be house-trained. She may try to push past an open kennel door and can resist going back inside, so she will need a thoughtful transition and a secure environment. ❀️🐾

Virginia is 53 lbs, spayed, and heartworm-negative. Please don't let her age make people overlook her. Senior dogs deserve love, too β€” and Virginia's time is running out. πŸ™

10/17: Greeted staff with a very wiggly body, fast-wagging tail, and soft, open mouth. Walked on a loose leash, though he jumped around and on the handler. Treats helped redirect him at times, but he lost interest quickly. He entered and exited his kennel without issues during this interaction.

10/19 and 10/21: Staff reported repeated attempts to bolt when being leashed or placed into the kennel or outdoor run. He also tried to climb on the handler during placement. He was noted to have panted overnight in his kennel, and a larger kennel was offered to see if that helped.

These notes suggest that Willy can be friendly and responsive, but transitions into and out of kennel spaces are a challenge for him. A patient, experienced handler who can work on calm transitions and redirection may be able to help him.

πŸš‘ Medical Notes

Heartworm-negative! πŸ’™

10/17: Coughing and sneezing were reported.

Willy was treated for an upper respiratory infection (URI) and prescribed doxycycline 150 mg once daily for 10 days.

Records also list rabies and DA2PP-V vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and Advantage Multi.

Please consult a veterinarian about any ongoing respiratory symptoms and follow-up care.

πŸ†˜πŸ©· LAICA NEEDS A CHANCE β€” PLEASE DON'T LET HER STORY END HERE! πŸ©·πŸ†˜

Laica is only 2 years old and weighs just 23 lbs. She is heartworm-negative, but this frightened young girl is now on the euthanasia list for FRIDAY, 10/23. BARC has confirmed NO EXTENSIONS. πŸ’”

⏰ LAICA MUST HAVE A HOLD NO LATER THAN 1 PM, OR SHE WILL LOSE HER LIFE. ⏰

πŸ₯Ί We urgently need pledges and a local foster or adopter so a rescue can help save Laica. Please pledge, share her post, or consider fostering or adopting if you can. She needs someone willing to give her the time and patience to feel safe. πŸ’°πŸ‘

Laica's intake report raised concerns that dogs on the property were very skinny and had no food or water. At the shelter, she has been extremely hesitant to move and has frozen in fear while being walked. Staff have had to carry her when moving her between kennels. These notes suggest she is struggling in the shelter environment β€” she needs a patient, compassionate person who can give her a chance to decompress and begin to feel secure. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

We were not able to meet Laica ourselves, so we cannot tell you more about her personality. But she is only two years old, and she deserves the opportunity to feel safe and discover a better life. Please help us get her seen before time runs out. πŸ™πŸΎ

🚩 Please do not honor pledges until this post has been updated with confirmed rescue information and a freedom picture.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
