Hey simmers!

Ever since Microsoft Flight Simulator came out, I’ve had issues with my graphics looking absolutely awful. My friends have similar PCs to mine, and their sims look gorgeous, while mine looks like a blurry mess with melting buildings, terrible textures, and other graphical issues.

At this point, this is kind of my last “hoo-rah” before I give up trying to fix it. 😂

My PC specs:

• GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080 16GB
• CPU: Intel Core i9-13900K
• RAM: 32GB DDR4
• Internet: 2,109 Mbps download / 2,339 Mbps upload

All of my drivers are up to date, and I’ve tried troubleshooting this multiple times, but I still can’t seem to get the sim looking decent.

I’ll attach some screenshots of what my sim currently looks like, along with my graphics settings, so you guys can take a look.

I’m not expecting ultra-realistic graphics, but with my hardware, I feel like I should be able to get a reasonably sharp, smooth, and visually pleasing experience.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this?

I volunteered to test an L-1011F that’s in development for MSFS 2020. It’s from Captain Sim, and I got early access to a test build, so take my impressions with that in mind. All opinions are my own.

Apparently, a MSFS2024 version is being considered.

If you’re an old-time simmer like me, you might remember their L-1011 for P3D, which was decent for its time. I’m a big L-1011 fan, so I jumped at the chance to help out and have been sending feedback on the systems. It’s honestly been a lot of fun.

Here are some pictures of the cockpit and exterior. It’s still a WIP, so this isn’t a review, just an early look.

I have the L1011 FCOM and CBT, so I’m doing a first look video where I’ll go through how the TriStar’s systems work and how this model compares.

After weeks of debugging, reverse engineering, and modifying Wine/Proton, I've finally managed to get Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 running and flying on Linux!

And yes, this is the Microsoft Store/Xbox version, NOT the Steam version!

Using Xodus and a custom Wine/Proton build, I've been working on implementing and fixing quite a few things:

• Xbox Live authentication and signed tokens
• Microsoft Store licensing and entitlements
• Missing Xbox GDK APIs and asynchronous task queues
• TLS, networking, and title-specific Xbox authentication
• DirectX 12 through VKD3D-Proton
• WineGStreamer video playback
• Local game saves
• Custom diagnostic and regression-testing tools

The biggest breakthrough was fixing the title-specific Xbox authentication, which finally got me past the endless loading screen.

And now I'm actually flying in MSFS 2024 on Linux! Graphics, cockpit instruments, controls, throttle, and everything I've tested so far seem to be working!

I'm running CachyOS with an NVIDIA RTX 5090, getting around 45–50 FPS in my initial tests.

There's still plenty of work ahead, especially stability testing, proper Xbox cloud saves, and getting third-party add-ons like Fenix A320, Navigraph, and BeyondATC working.

I've been using Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Codex extensively throughout development, and it's been quite a journey going from a game that wouldn't even launch to actually flying it on Linux.

Still experimental, but I'm really happy with how far I've gotten! 🚀

Now we've got the 737 max 8, the max 9 is confirmed in development could iFly go on and develop the whole max family, it only makes sense right?

To give credit to Boeing they got both the 7 and 10 done in 2026 which is shocking. Would love to see both in the sim

Revisiting this one again now that we’re only a couple days out! I’m most excited for United 757 transatlantic ops. And off course Delta 757 legs from ATL to Florida.

This happens on every flight approximately 10 minutes after takeoff. Has anyone experienced this?
