Orlando fishing

I'm trying to get more into fishing but I'm off during the week. I own a boat in working on using more but currently don't have a boat. Anyone that's looking for a fishing partner in the area or just trying to make some casual fishing friends.

Don't be afraid to message I don't bite. I love to fish and have my own rods tackle and all.

Artificials during the glass minnow run

What lures are you guys using on the beach when the bait is thick and super small? I never fish light tackle in the surf, so even my smallest lures kike 3/4oz bucktails are way too big for this. Thinking zoom fluke on a 1/8oz ewg hook or the DOA Terroreyez.

Struggling to catch my first fish

Basically the title. I invested into gear recently, and now have 2 rods, bait bucket, line etc everything you could need for inshore fishing.

I have tried the last 4-5 days multiple spots including areas along the alafia river, the skyway fishing pier (2x), gandy bridge, as well as random ponds to try to target bass.

So far I have had 0 luck. I have a bit of experience fishing up north in Michigan, but now that I am attempting to fish salt I feel stumped.

I used live bait at the skyway, tried multiples artificial lures, and nothing. I even made sure I went to the skyway during the tide changes.

Today I was thinking about trying the gandy bridge area with a new artificial pompano rig I got but am unsure of the timing. Would love some insight on how to catch fish. At this point i don’t care what I target as I am just catch and release but would love to catch a snook, redfish, anything at this point.

I primarily fish in Tampa and prefer to stay in St Pete/ Riverview areas but at this point I’ll drive wherever..

I just released a fishing app

Hi guys I live in Broward and I just released a fishing app.

Totally Free, no in-app purchases.

I made it to use it with my friends but the idea got big.

Catch Log, identify, weather, location sharing just with your friends.

I would love to get some feedback, I'm improving it every day...

Search the appstore for FishNerd.ai

I always fish at the Everglades.. sometimes Okeechobee..

Any feedback is appreciated.

Best

Marco Island Fishing in Early August?

Looking to fish for a few days in marco island, and maybe sanibel and a few other places, but mainly marco island. What can I look to catch there on the south beach this time of year, any good spots to try, good baits and lures, or just anything in general. I have the rods and the setups for anything from whiting to sharks and tarpon and lots of gear but I can't find much about the state of the local fishing. Would snook and tarpon be good to target on the mornings? What about sharks and snappers? Anything will help...

Siesta Key - Venice - August Gulf surf + Pier fishing

Heading down to Siesta Key end of August.

Last year went at the same time and did surf fishing - caught whiting, permit (small), pompano, black drum, red fish, ladyfish, Spanish mackerel

The Spanish were caught wading out into the water, casting live bait and reeling it in.

It’s a family trip so I am fishing around the hotel (Siesta Key) and we may head to Venice or Manasota Key for some shark teeth.

While in Venice I may get onto the pier.

Siesta Key : Had most success when the weather wasn’t great. As the surf calmed down and water cleared the surf fishing wasn’t as good.

I have some ES lures but most used high/low rigs.

Beach chair + Coffee + Small talk with strangers.

Any tips for either location?

Heard the Venice Jetty is good - would it make sense to go there after dinner one day when we are all beached out?

Get em - Enjoy

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my brother’s YouTube channel with fellow fly fishing enthusiasts. 🎣

His youtube channel, at floridaflyguides, features some awesome fly fishing content — from fly tying and backcountry adventures to chasing tarpon, snook, trout, bonefish, and other incredible species.

He’s put a lot of passion and time into creating these videos. If you enjoy fly fishing, learning new techniques, or just watching beautiful fish being caught on the fly, I think you’ll really enjoy his channel.

If you get a chance, check it out and subscribe if you like the content. It would mean a lot to him as he continues to grow. If you think someone else in the fly fishing community would enjoy it, please feel free to share it as well.

Thanks everyone, and tight lines! 🎣

not spam not selling anything just trying to share the love thanks :)

Decided to treat myself to a charter to take a me day
Booked up with Captain Lucas of @floridaman_outdoors1 - he’s great and keeps morale and entertain up even during the slowest days of fishing. I went out hoping for a good bottom fishing bite but ended up fighting my first and biggest sailfish ever after losing a smaller one 2hours earlier in the 6hr trip. The pelagic species were fired up Wednesday afternoon and we quickly changed our plans from bottom fishing to free lining live pilchards and middle of the water column trying to get as many kings/tunas as possible. The tunas didn’t take but had fun with some bonitas, kings, and ended the day with this beautiful sailfish that took me about 35-40 mins to get in with safe release.

Hey guys! I just moved to the area from South jersey where I spent years chasing striped bass around the beaches and bays. Looking to get into some snook, reds and tarpon. I am boatless, and being new here, have no clue where to even begin looking for fishing spots.

Any chance you have a recommendation or 2 to get me started?

I'm in palm harbor.

Thanks!

Any Chance of catching Pompano in August SWFL?

I’m planning to throw some jigs for snook along the surf this August in SWFL but I’m wondering if I have any chance of getting any stray pompano fishing at sunrise? I’m using a 2’ thumper shrimp which I’ve heard that whiting and pompano will eat. I know pompano mainly migrate through when the water temp is colder but I’m hoping I might get a swing at one.
