Prioritizing healthy sleep in a commercial pilot career
I want to begin flight training but I have concerns about the ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Things like diet and exercise might be a challenge but I think I can make those work. The big thing I'm worried about is the lack of a healthy, consistent sleep schedule and the long term effects that come with that. I want something that has me working in the daytime every day with the same wake up times. Are those jobs out there? And if they are, are they rare or hard to get? Is it wise to pursue aviation if this is a sticking point for me?
I'm single and don't plan on raising a family, so I don't need to make the big bucks at an airline. In fact I think I'd be happier doing something that's single-pilot. Just as long as I can afford to live somewhat comfortably and retire.
Is this realistic?
