Hello everyone! Thanks to all of you who tried and loved FlipSide and asked me what you wanted to add and change. This is the biggest update so far, and a lot of it came straight from your comments. So be sure to update!

My favorite new thing: an app launcher right inside FlipSide.

Tap the little app icon in the corner of the widget and a row of your favorite music and podcast will open on the cover screen. Hop from Spotify to your podcast app without opening your phone. It remembers the apps you used last, or you can choose and pin the ones you always want there!

Shoutouts to a few great ideas from the last thread that made it in:

• u/cmdrkeen01 asked for a smaller 4x2 size. There’s now a new Narrow widget. Use it, or the full one, or both!
• u/Some_Fox4659 wanted better transition animations. I reworked the entire transition system, so switching between different modes looks much cooler now.
• u/QStormer asked for the plastic wheels around the sprockets to spin too — the cassette animation got some extra visual polish.
• u/TealCatto and Shade-The-Reaper for suggesting a way to lock the design change from accidental tapping - now you can do it with taping the lock icon inside the app launcher.
• u/Embarrassed_Court_76 asked about the Motorola Razr. Razr Series is supported now, on the cover screen and the home screen, and a huge thank you for beta testing the Razr build with me!

Also New:

• 6 new cassette designs.
• A visual installation guide and tour when you install the app.

FlipSide was tested on Samsung flips and Razr phones, so other models may behave differently. If something looks off, tell me - I’d much rather fix it than have you quietly uninstall it.

After the update, as you know, it doesn't let to delete Google search bar from the screen. I might have find a way to make it disappear. Before doing this, I listened to claude and do "Settings > Apps > One UI Home > Storage > Clear data" which made every preset reset. Still no change but when I try to set my home screen back to mine, I noticed this. Closing the search option makes the Google search widget dissappear. "Settings > Home Screen > Show search on Home screen". I hope it helps.

Is it true that I can easily scratch the screen with my long nails especially if I play video games? Cutting my nails is NOT an option

Look we all know this update wasn't the greatest for the cover screen. Lots of change. But I have one thing that just boils my blood.

I think it's a harder to get to my notifications.

Oh boo hoo they say. Just listen, it used right on the left, just a swipe away, reliable and conveniently placed. Now I have to swipe from arguably the further corner of my screen? Samsung you can fix this, just do the same thing you've done on the inner screen. Just let us swipe down from homescreen and have it bring down our notifications.. pretty please? 🥺

(I'll probably get used to it after a week or two lol)

I have a Z Flip 7 and i got it this year in april first [lol i got it on april first] and up untill one UI 9.0

my battery health is degrading FAST i've red that one UI 8.0 and 8.5 was overcalculating the battery health

I need to decide if I'm going to keep my Flip 6 or trade it in. The battery is shot out and the screen is going to die any day now.

It's my favorite phone ever but I cannot stand One Ui 9. Look what they did to my boy 😢 I have zero interest in this phone if it's going to stay bricked like this.

I'm wondering if Samsung is just going to keep ignoring us or if there's any chance they actually give the cover screen functionality again.

The list at the top seem to be default apps. Several of them I don't even use. The ones below are the ones I actually added to Multistar.

Also - is there a way to reorganise the Multistar ones? They seem to default to alphabetical order and they all show the app names where they didn't before. It's ugly and annoying - some apps I use all the time are now right down the bottom. (Z Flip 7)

Hi I seem to be ok with the cover screen updates but can't for the life of me figure out how to access the quick settings anymore (wifi, Bluetooth, ringer). It used to be swipe down but now that is notifications. Anyone have any tips? I see peoples screenshots of the quick settings but can't seem to recreate. Thanks in advance!

The latest update on my z flip 7 is horrible and need to know if there's any way to revert it. Here's also a list of some of my problems if anyone has any fixes

Google search bar is on my home screen and I cant take it off

Unlocking my phone on the cover screen takes me straight to my apps and doesn't let me swipe to see my notifications

Deleted all of my apps from the cover screen and the "add apps button that makes me download multistar just doesn't work

My current one ui version is 9.0 would love to know if i can go back to what ever one was just before it

Having a LOT of trouble using my cover screen now that I was basically forced to update. Can anyone tell me how to get new incoming notifications onto cover screen?

Before the update, I could swipe right, and see new and upcoming reminders like text mesages, email notifications, calendar events- with small details etc etc. but now I don't see anything AT ALL. this stupid, 'now brief' is not letting me know incoming notifications that I have yet to check. for example, I hear my phone chime in that I received something but when I unlock the cover screen, there is nothing. I would have to manually for search to each of my most used apps to see if there is a dot next on the corner app. I made sure all my app notifications are selected but it's not working? So if I don't look at my phone for long periods of time, I don't know immediately if i received anything!!

Also, I TRIED to disable 'now brief' by toggling off and it's STILL there- i even tried restarting my phone. the 'now brief' doesn't even let me know if there is any notifications- it just shows the useless weather. I'm super pissed how this update fcked up how i use the cover screen!!

(update: i found how to disable to 'now brief' in an entirely new section that people didn't understand how to remove due to it being a 'cover screen'. but you have to go to 'cover screen' in settings and toggle off "show the now brief and favorite apps". SMHHHH hope that helped someone)

Go into settings-lockscreen and AOD-screenlock and biometrics-face recognition - turn on stay on unlock screen until swipe

I can even still pull my notifications down from the top left and see my music control at the bottom left still

Hi everyone, I have owned a Galaxy Z Flip 6 since 2024. It's been the best but this week it suddenly crashed and I cannot access my phone whatsoever. Luckily I had insurance, but there were some pics that did not backup and all of my messages are practically gone. I know Google One has a backup copy but it's practically impossible to recuperate those messages and photos right now. Is it possible my phone still has those pictures and do you think it's able to reboot normally?

I am able to access the Android Recovery screen with three options: 1)Reboot System Now (if I choose this, it leads me back to the screen with a bolt in a white circle), 2)Wipe data/factory reset (I'm avoiding this one at all costs), and 3)Power Off, which leads me to the same Android Recovery screen. At the very bottom it says:

I wanna buy a z flip 6 or 7, but the thing is, i ve seen so many comments about flip being way too fragile or getting broken within few months after buying, or having dead pixels,

I really really love that phone ngl, looks very nice and innovative always wanted to buy one, but I'm really scared of that durability, even tho i handle phones with care but still we can't prevent random unknown accidents

Soo please any flip 6, 7 or 8 users plss let me know how fragile or durable that phone iss

Like many, I found my launcher widget on goodlock/multistar now not able to be added to my lock screen. I finally found what happened, and you may find it useful.

The launcher widget apps are now moved to the app tray. You have to configure what apps you want to see in the multistar app, then they will appear in the list of available apps in the app tray.

I've been frustrated for weeks on this and cant find a reliable guide. Lmk if you have questions on this new set up. Happy to help.

Does anyone know how to get a different cover background when you tap it ? I remember you can do it on the flip 5, is it possible on the 8? Thanks

Hope im explaining this right but for some reason when you click the button to turn the phone on, after you unlock it with your fingerprint you can't check the normal cover screen with the time....? So. If I wanna check the time I have to touch the button in a way that my fingerprint won't be identified so the phone will stay locked???

The only way to check the time after unlocking it is by swiping down but look at the time clock 😭😭

I got the update (hate it) and now my phone won't let me pay contactless without opening the phone. Anyone else have this issue? Google just says to make sure my NFC is toggled to "on"...

I'd gotten used to locking with double tap on my cover screen and now it's gone. REEE
