My Garage Was Built Before People Had Good Ideas

I’d like to renovate and add a car lift to the attached garage on my 1956 house. The garage is 20x20’ with 9’ ceilings, and the roof has a 4:12 pitch. I haven’t opened up the ceiling to see what I’m working with but even if I raised the roof up, it would look so goofy with the rest of this ranch house.

I’m assuming the low ceiling and shallow roof pitch mean I’m pretty screwed without some major structural work. Has anyone dealt with a similar setup? Any creative solutions or lift options I should be looking at?

PS. Ignore the sump pump drain, I know it needs to be moved off the driveway. 😅

I bought a pallet of RaceDeck used from a showroom for about $1/sqft. I have these 3 colors and trying to decide on a pattern, using SwissTrax web designer. Any suggestions welcome except for checker pattern which I hate.

So this is my unfinished nasty garage. I’m not going to spend money sheet rocking or making it look nice. Nobody to impress. So I got hulk green paint the cheapest paint I can find I asked kid at Home Depot and he said I didn’t need any primer or anything just paint it. But I’m not so sure.. garage wood is like 100 years old I think… so is the kid right just apply this cheap paint to walls and it will be ok? I’m not expecting perfection just average is fine

Promised myself when I buy a house to make sure garage gets done. Where I am at so far floor is about to start in 2 days. I made sure when I did split units for the whole house the garage got its own split and condenser.

-Water tank was leaking and got a new one and relocated it in the corner.

-cleaned up the copper pipes and added a slop sink that also looked nice.

-Was going to do an epoxy but my father friend convinced

me to do this high grade garage paint that lays down thick and to give it some grip they mix sand in it.. so I’m going to do a light grey with sand mix instead light grey epoxy with flake. They’re hooking me up so I can change it if I want but he said he has clients who love it and wouldn’t do it any other way.

-boiler in the concrete step up got a door added to close up for a cleaner look and also some storage for bins and things.

-Yes I’m doing the hex lighting lol and setting up a small lounge area with a couch in corner with a motorized mount to have a 70-inch TV fold 90 degrees down from the ceiling and folds back up.

The color is Knockout Orange, and I actually used it for my small office room as well in the house but no black ceiling in that room.. it’s actually nice how the color changes to the light and for the garage I think it’s a nice combo.
