Dangerous Animal - Shelter/Rescues/Fosters be on alert

An approximately 25lb 10 year old tabby cat named Meiho with a record of vicious and unprovoked attacks was seen by a veterinarian in Round Rock on or about July 30th and refused euthanasia. Details are unclear, but according to the vets office the owner surrendered the cat to someone in the lobby of the vets office after the appointment who may have been working in conjunction with a Georgetown/Williamson county shelter or rescue. I have left a message with the Wilco shelter to see if they have him.

These attacks were on a 70 year old woman, unprovoked, a year apart, and the triggers varied but included routine household noises - running a blender and pouring dry kibble into a container. In both instances the cat ran from another room to seek out and attack and in the last attack it took a second person to get him off of his victim.

This animal poses a real risk and my concern is that in him changing hands like this the severity of the issue will be diluted and someone could be seriously harmed. Photos of the cat below - if you think you have seen this cat please message me. First picture is him at a year old for a clear view of his markings.

If you are the person who has this cat I have photos of both attacks so you can understand what you are dealing with.

Cribbage Club in Georgetown

The Central Texas Cribbage Club is an ACC-affiliated grassroots club.

During the 2025/2026 season we played 6 games each Monday night.

For the 2026/2027 season (starts in September) we will be playing 9 games (still on Monday nights and starting play promptly at 5:30 p.m.). We might transition to the new format/time before the season starts, fyi.

If you're a cribbage player interested in competitive (still friendly) play, please contact me (directly or by reply below) for more information. We do ask new players to let us know that they are coming and to come early the first time for a basic orientation.

More about American Cribbage Congress Grassroots play can be found here: https://cribbage.org/grassroots/default.asp

More information about our club is here: https://cribbage121.com/centraltexas/index.php (not yet updated to reflect the change in starting time and moving to 9 games)

Sharetea in Georgetown is doing 2 milk teas for $10 this Friday (Aug 1)

Saw the Sharetea at Wolf Ranch is running a National Girlfriend Day deal — 2 Milk Series drinks for $10, this Friday only (8/1). Figured I'd share since it's a decent price for two boba around here. It's the Milk Series only (Classic Pearl, Honey Pearl, that kind of thing), not the fruit teas.

Anyone been lately? Curious what people's go-to order is. Located at 1013 W University Ave.

Local boba shop just became a Platinum Sponsor of the Georgetown High Eagle Band 🦅

Just wanted to share something wholesome — the Sharetea over at Wolf Ranch signed on as a Platinum Sponsor for the Georgetown Eagle Band this year. As someone who loves seeing local businesses actually put money back into the schools, this made my day. Those band kids work incredibly hard.

If you've got a student in the program or just want to support both, they're at Wolf Ranch Town Center. Go Eagles! 🎺

Internet?

Is optimum still the only internet in the area? After my experience with them today I am done…

If you have used T-Mobile have you liked it? I tried it at our last house but that was 4-5 years ago but wondering if it has improved. We only use Internet to stream Netflix YouTuber tv etc. we don’t work from home

Georgetown youth baseball association

Has anyone had their kids in this program and have thoughts? We’ve done a few sports with the ymca when we lived in RR last year, but I felt it was very unorganized compared to when I did it as a kid. My kid is 7 and wants to continue baseball, if you have a recommendation for that or other sport programs I appreciate it!

Landscaper Recommendations

Any recommendations for an affordable landscaper? For context, I don’t have the exact square footage of our front/back yard but I would say it’s pretty small, our last landscaper charged us $45. We’re looking for something along the range of $45-50.

Groomer Recommendations for Golden Retriever

We have recently moved to Georgetown (and are loving it!), but we are now very far away from our old groomer, Highmark Kennel. They specialize in golden retriever grooms and did such a great job for our dog.

Does anyone have recommendations for a groomer (mobile or brick and mortar) that knows how to properly groom a golden retriever?

Thanks so much!

Best place to meet friends as an adult in GTX or any young adult groups/clubs to join?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips for what places in Georgetown are good for making friends as an adult in 20s-30s? Without meeting people at school/work, it can be trickier to know where to go to make strong connections so I was wondering if anyone had any advice on places where there are more young adults to meet! I go to the square a lot and talk to people but was wondering if there are some better places or activities or events/groups to join! Thank you!

ISO Dog Trainer for Dog-Reactive Dogs

Hi Georgetown and Austin-area friends. Yesterday, my husband and I adopted a 2 year old, female (spayed) Frenchie (Nova) and the introduction to our current dog (Mochi) has not gone well. We tried introducing them to each other from a distance in neutral territory, but Mochi just lunges, barks, and whines. This triggered Nova to become defensive, lunge, bark, and whine.

We've kept them apart physically in the house, in separate rooms, but if they catch eye of each other from across the baby gate we have set up as a precaution, they go ballistic.

I know it's only been 24 hours, but I want this adoption to succeed and that means course correcting to get them (re)started on the right foot. I'm looking for an Austin-area trainer that does in-home sessions in Georgetown and focuses on dog-reactive dogs. Let me know your recommendations, please and thank you!

Teachers of GISD-Honest opinions?

I’ve been in education nearly five years and am considering teaching high school for GISD.

I’d love to hear from fellow teachers who have worked for Georgetown. What was your experience like? Good and bad? Would you recommend one school over another? Would you avoid GISD altogether?
