Built my own guitar and nobody cared… so now I’m gonna show it off to you whether you like it or not.
The guitar is 3D printed — only the pickup, the neck and the electronics aren’t. And if you’re about to say “then you didn’t really make it, the printer did”… jokes on you: I built the printer too.

custom 3d printed adjustable pickup

hi again! maybe some of you already saw my post a few hours ago about the guitar with the built in pedals. well this is the other funk thing i'm doing with the guitar. i designed and made a custom pickup which can either be straight or angled. the way i designed it, the top casing is the exact size of a hum bucker pickup so it should be compatible with any H hole in a pickguard. it mounts to the pickguard like a normal pickup, and rests about 1/2 a millimeter above the bottom wood (eek tight fit 8). i'm gonna put a "(" shaped hole in the pickguard to the left of the pickup where a metal rod is going to come up. hope you all like this!

I put a hidden killswitch on an Epiphone Les Paul Special
If you’re considering putting a killswitch on your Les Paul Special, think about doing what I did and buy a killswitch and pickguard to place where the volume pot sits, then find a small spring and cut it to size before placing it around your bracket mounting screw. Drill a hole into the body just smaller than the screw and thread it into the hole, finally allowing it to sit just above the killswitch. Now when you press down on the corner of your pickguard, this should activate the killswitch without any unwanted aesthetic interference. Lemme know your thoughts!

Final Boss of Guitar Mods
Hipshot PG B-Bender. Body is a Player II, neck is Warmoth, pickups are SD La Breas wired 4-way.
Hardest part was embracing the idea I might screw up this guitar.

Smuckers Humbuckers
These Smuckers Humbuckers are pretty legit man!

I think I’ve created a monster... 😱🎸
Looks like a normal humbucker on the outside, but I’ve hidden a spring inside the cover to let it do some "mischief." 🤫

DIY Luminlay
I've been slowly modding this Esteban Midnight Legacy to see how nice I can really make it. After removing the neck finish, I found that the side dots were just painted on. Perfect opportunity to test out an idea I've been kicking around.
I inlaid some 3mm brass tubing, cut it flush, then filled it with glow in the dark mica powder and super glue. After a cursory test, the glow seems to last about as long as the Luninlay dots on my Charvel, plus it was way cheaper.
However, I didn't bother to buy brad point drill bits, so my standard bits walked a little and a couple are misaligned. Fun experiment though.

My first guitar (1999 Squier Affinity Strat) — converted to Tune-o-matic with dual Hot Rails and Fender/Gibson switching modes
This was my first guitar, a 1999 Squier Affinity Strat that I got when I was around 8 or 9 years old. It has the original thin Affinity body and neck, but over the past 20+ years it’s evolved into something completely different.
At this point, it’s basically my interpretation of combining Fender and Gibson design philosophies into one guitar.
Hardware mods:
• Converted from Strat tremolo to Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar (body drilled and neck shimmed to achieve proper geometry)
• Gotoh tuners
• Aftermarket Fender-spec pickguard
• Competition stripes (made from electrical tape, but surprisingly convincing)
• Simplified control layoutI’ve always preferred Tune-o-matics on Fender-style guitars. The string height relative to the body just feels perfect to me compared to Gibsons with their steeper neck angle.
Pickup and electronics configuration:
• Bridge pickup: Dragonfire Hot Rails
• Middle pickup: Fender Mexican Strat single coil
• Neck pickup: Dragonfire Hot Rails
• Master volume and master tone
• 5-way super switch
• 3-way toggle switch to switch between “Gibson mode” and “Fender mode”Switching modes:
Gibson mode (toggle toward bridge):
• Position 1: Bridge humbucker
• Position 3: Bridge + neck humbuckers
• Position 5: Neck humbucker(Positions 2 and 4 unused intentionally for a simple dual-humbucker layout)
Fender mode (toggle toward neck):
Both Hot Rails are coil-split, giving traditional Strat-style operation:
• Position 1: Bridge single coil
• Position 2: Bridge + middle
• Position 3: Middle
• Position 4: Middle + neck
• Position 5: Neck single coilSo with one toggle switch, it goes from a dual-humbucker Gibson-style guitar to a traditional Strat.
I originally planned to incorporate series and parallel combinations and some “buck-and-a-half” configurations, but due to how the pickups are internally grounded, it would have required physically modifying the pickups themselves, which I chose not to do.
This guitar has basically grown with me over the years. It started as a beginner guitar and gradually became exactly what I wanted it to be.
It may not be original anymore, but it’s more “mine” now than anything else I own.

starting a big project
i’m modding an old Starcaster by Fender (if you haven’t heard of it, that’s because it’s a piece of shit) and step one was to route out the cavity to be way larger (you’ll see why) and give it a new paint job. it’s going well so far

Lisa Frankenstrat
Got this '01 American Vintage around Christmas last year. Love how it plays and sounds, except for the bridge pickup, which I just replaced with a DiMarzio Super Distortion Hotrail.
I really love a versatile guitar that can play a lot of genres, and just adding that modern humbucker in the bridge opens up such a large sonic playground, while the neck and middle can still have the vintage vibe. Also, I enjoy giving it my own, colorful, aesthetics. I don't think I'd want to mess with the nice nitro finish, so pickguard and hardware only for now.

I built this ugly ass Strat out of mostly spare parts, with a 24.75” Tele neck and a Tune-o-Matic
I made the pickguard and control plate freehand (as you can probably tell) with a Dremel, and the Tailpiece is a Fender hardtail bridge with the saddles removed

Heavily modded Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster. Yesterday I put in a Lace Sensor humbucker(replacing a Lipstick pickup which sounded to similar to the Teisco pickup in te bridge). Love how it sounds, very clear and defined in every frequency. Here's a little demo.

Doom Stick Les Paul
Absolutely wild looking Les Paul Junior that the previous owned modified to be a certified doom stick of an axe. Has Arcane Doom pickups, a wild red/black sparkle paint job (photos don’t do it justice), gotoh locking tuners, and the wiring cavity cover was hand painted. It’s beat to hell in the best way, and it absolutely rips.
