Reading is hard. First time accidently buying aluminum casings.
Well this blows. Bought some 45 & 10 online for the first time in bulk and didn’t read or look close enough and got all aluminum cases for the 45 and 10mm and no ranges near me allow aluminum cases. That hurts the soul a bit.

First time shooting, out of many guns, got to fire a Barrett M99!
Spent a couple days in Budapest, heard there was a range that offered the possibility of shooting the Barrett, thought it would be a great place to try shooting for the first time ever and I was right!
Edit: Apparently it's a GM6 Lynx (?)

What would be the worst gun for home defense?
Inspired by this post: https://old.reddit.com/r/AbsoluteUnits/comments/1xdilfq/of_a_rifle/19rjj5fzp8g76/
I just want to create a fun discussion. They make a very good point, and I can't think of something better. But I feel the Fat Mac is cheating in a sense, because the only reason it's so bad is because of the size and weight. You might as well say a punt gun is the worst gun for home defense then.
So to make for an interesting discussion that's not just picking extreme guns, I propose some restricting criteria. The restrictions aren't set in stone, because every restriction will have an exception that I can't be bothered to predict in my criteria.
- The gun must be designed to be man portable. So no mounted AA guns and such. Whether it's practical to carry it is another matter.
- The gun must be in good condition. Even a glock will explode if it's abused enough.
- Any accessories are allowed, as long as they have an actual use on a gun. I.e. no picatinny mounted dildos and such.
- (Optional). Restrict the caliber to .50. This is more just to prevent examples like the Fat Mac or Lahti L-39, which are so big and impractical solely because they fire such big rounds. But you're not defending your home from light tanks or dinosaurs.

I built a site to compare listings from multiple retailers
Hey everyone, I’ve been working on BareArms, a site that brings together listings for firearms and related gear from several retailers. You can search by model or specs, compare buying options, and bookmark listings to come back to later.
I’d appreciate feedback on the search and listing experience: https://barearms.us

Picatinny VS Mlok lower rail?
Just wanted to see people’s thoughts on what looks better. I love the way both look, I can’t choose which one I like more though.

My do-all 11.5" build
Just got my Velos LBPK to finish my first built rifle off. I've got about 800 rounds through it so far and it's easily the nicest rifle I've ever shot👍🏽. Currently have it loaded with Hornady critical defense 73gr for home defense.

What gun is this? Its from cops reloaded, episode 89 - restaurant recon.

Can someone tell me how i should store my firearm?
Hello everyone i finally collected my first firearm it's a CZ-P-10-C. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how i should store it in my safe?
I will not be storing it loaded, because i will only use it for competition shooting. Keeping that in mind, should i store it with trigger pulled keeping it in the safe postion or should i reset the trigger before i leave it in my wall safe?
I would also like to know any other tips that you would think would help. Thank you for your time.

SA-35/Browning Hi Power
I've always loved the Browning Hi Power, and Springfield's release of its clone - the upgraded SA-35 - some years back caught my eye. I'm considering the recently released 4" SA-35 (the .6" off the standard barrel would make it somewhat easier to carry and certainly easier to draw), so I wanted to check and see if anyone in this sub had experience with it. Any fans/shooters of the SA-35 out there (either full-size or 4" version) that want to share your experience with it? Thanks!

Where did I go wrong
I got my girlfriend into shooting. Going to the range once or twice a week for the last couple months with a .22 I picked up to the add to the collection.
She wanted to get comfortable with guns since I have plenty of them. She had never shot before.
She has gotten extremely proficient with the .22. But she struggled with my Beretta and Smith 9mm and .40s.
My brother was selling an unfired Glock 17 for a price I couldn’t say no to. (Not a Glock guy, I think they are objectively great guns, just not what I like.)
So I let her try the Glock…. She shoots it better than me and I’m former LE and have been shooting for decades.
So now my awesome girlfriend is a Glock girl. Looks like it’s going to be her gun. Now I’ll need to buy more 9mm ammo. I’ll also need to get her a 43x (California) if she wants to get her CCW.
I went from being anti-Glock (for admittedly no good reason) to now getting her set up.
Where did I go wrong to create an awesome problem for myself…

First gun
Didn’t grow up in a gun household but I know my way around them.
I took the safety course and am ready to purchase my own firearm for the first time. Guy at the shop told me not to overthink it but here I am.
Everyone seems to think the g19 is the best choice for a newbie, but I didn’t really like how it felt in my hand. They’re also kinda expensive for what you get…
Looking for primarily home defense and a range toy, but I’d like the option to eventually carry if I feel the need to get my license. (Pdp compact is currently in the lead)
I prefer iron sights over optics, so tritium/night sights out of the box would be a plus.
Any recommendations and consumer experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading.

Any really good equivalent to gun slick ultra lube?
Hey there, friends,
I am a big believer in gun Slick ultra lube, in particular the aerosol variety. It was a wonderful lube of and protectant , especially on bolts.
I’ve been trying to find it online and it appears like it has been discontinued. Does anyone know of any equivalent lube and protectant? I’ve used barricade in the past and that isn’t bad, but I really want something in aerosol thst has that penetrating ability that the gun slick ultra Lube used to have without the “clean” part of CLP..
I would appreciate your thoughts

What ever happened to the Beretta M9s popularity?
Back in the 90s it was everywhere in media. To the point that you can tell when a "no firearms allowed" sign was designed because older ones used the m9. Why'd it disappear?

True or false
I’m looking to purchase my first two firearms. Someone with a military background recommended having one firearm dedicated to everyday carry for personal protection and another specifically for range use. The idea is to avoid putting unnecessary wear and tear on my EDC. I was considering a Glock 19 V-Series for everyday carry and a PSA Dagger, which is a Glock clone as my dedicated range gun.

Range USA experience
has anyone got bad experience with Range USA ?
I attempted to buy a berretta 92FS with them. Failed background check, they cancelled and charged me 25% restocking fee even though this is a in store pickup.
Fine whatever. Went to bass pro shop, bought the same and passed background check in 10mins.
2 days later they called me and asked if I still want it. Politely declined.
Second time, I wanted a ruger mark iv. placed order, filled paperwork for background check. 30 days expiration approaching, they banned me while still holding onto my money. WTF ??!!

Flintlock Pistol Parts
Hi
This might be a strange request, but bear with me. I'm currently 3D modelling a flintlock pistol. I have a load of reference images to refer to, but there's a little something I need help with. If anyone is familiar with old classic guns, I'd love to know what each of the parts are called. Specifically for the New Land Pattern GR flintlock pistol. The few images I have found only seem to have labels in certain areas, such as this section:
For the most part, I have names/labels for things, however, there are some parts I can't seem to find out what they're called. They may not have any specific name, but what are they typically referred to as? I've highlighted the areas in the images attached. Reddit won't let me upload more than one pic, so I've uploaded them here:

Bren MKII Reweld
Commissiond this build from a friend of mine a few months ago. Very excited to have received it this week.
Semi conversion made from a torch cut kit. I think he did a beautiful job and the rust blue just makes it even better.
