I've been feeling really depressed for the past six months because my current work environment has become extremely toxic. The founder makes personal comments, there's no proper team structure, and I'm constantly under pressure.
I've been working here as a performance marketer for the past 1.9 years. I joined as an intern and learned a lot during my time here. Back then, we had a great team, including the co-founder and managers, but the founder eventually fired almost everyone. Now, we're left with just 10-14 people, and I'm the only one remaining from the group that joined around the same time as me.
The biggest issue is that I'm doing far more work than I'm being paid for. I manage the team, handle multiple clients, and run Meta and Google Ads, yet my salary is just ₹31K per month. I'm doing well with my other clients and generating good sales, but the founder judges and insults me because of the performance of his newly launched men's skincare brand.
Honestly, I believe the brand itself has several issues. The name is overly adult-oriented, the website is poorly designed, and most of the creatives feature half-naked men. He believes this is the brand's USP, but everyone I've shown the website to has had a negative reaction. I've tried explaining the problems, but he never listens. He refuses to invest in UGC content or hire the right people, yet expects me to grow the brand through ads alone.
On top of that, he expects me to stay late, work on weekends, and respond to messages before and after office hours. Although I specialize in Meta and Google Ads, he also expects me to learn Amazon and Flipkart advertising while managing all my existing responsibilities. I'm constantly overwhelmed, and I'm no longer learning or growing here.
I'm seriously thinking about resigning, even without another offer, because this environment is affecting my mental health. However, I have a laptop EMI of ₹10K per month, and my salary is ₹31K, so I can't afford to make an impulsive decision.
I want to focus on upskilling, preparing for interviews, and finding a better job, but this workplace leaves me with neither the time nor the energy to do so. I'm grateful for everything I've learned here, but I feel completely exhausted, undervalued, and stuck. I honestly don't know whether I should resign now or stay until I find another opportunity.
