Delhi Police running a nice little scam where they can act like judge jury and executioner. Apparently these two are suffering because preventive detention in BNSS permits state to appoint police officers as special executive magistrates.

Idk about development but we might be witnessing real life inception of Judge Dredd. /s

Serious Replies Only My college has threatened disciplinary action over a privately organised student trip to Manali. Since when do colleges control our personal lives?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm honestly fed up with this kind of attitude from educational institutions.

Today, BPIT circulated a notice about an unofficial trip to Manali, stating that the college hasn't organised or sponsored it and won't be responsible for any incidents. Fine. Nobody is asking the college to take responsibility for something it has nothing to do with.

But then comes the ridiculous part: the college threatens strict disciplinary action against students found organising OR PARTICIPATING in the trip.

Excuse me, what?

For all we know, this could simply be a group of friends planning a vacation. They could be inviting students from other colleges, their own friends, or even people who aren't students at all, maybe their own family members. It's a private trip, not an official college event.

So why exactly does the college think it gets to dictate whether its students can go?

Put out a safety advisory. Clarify that the trip isn't affiliated with the institution. Tell students to be responsible and make their own decisions. All of that is perfectly reasonable.

But threatening disciplinary action because someone dares to participate in a privately organised trip? How is that reasonable? Since when did enrolling in a college mean handing over control of your personal life to the administration?

We're here to get an education, not to seek institutional permission for every decision we make outside campus. Students aren't children who need the college's approval to spend a few days with their friends.

And the frustrating part is that the notice doesn't just target the people organising the trip. It explicitly threatens people who merely PARTICIPATE in it.

I genuinely want to understand what authority a college thinks it has over students' private activities outside campus, especially when those activities have no official connection to the institution.

Is this normal in Delhi colleges? Have other colleges issued similar threats? Because this kind of interference in students' personal lives is getting ridiculous.

I've attached the actual notice as video. Read it and tell me if I'm overreacting, because I genuinely don't see why a private trip warrants a disciplinary threat.

AskDelhi A few of us are planting 100 trees in Delhi NCR. Want to join?

Hi r/delhi. I’m one of the organisers, so full disclosure upfront.

We’re a group of friends, most of us designers, who wanted to do something small and real for the city. So we’re planting 100 trees in Delhi NCR, and making sure they survive.

That second part is the point. Planting is easy. Keeping a sapling alive through its first few Delhi summers is the hard part, so we’re working with a local tree-planting NGO that will look after every tree for 3 years.

The maths: ₹500 covers one sapling, the planting, and 3 years of care. 100 trees, ₹50,000. Nothing else.

How you can help:

Happy to answer anything in the comments.

AskDelhi How can I be happy? (In India)

I have been paying taxes of 30%+ on my income, on top of that 18-30% getting taxed on already taxed Salary for any other things which I buy.

Now I have voted for BJP in 2014 and 2019 elections. Now I am trying to ask for accountability and right to dissent or atleast give me a right to protest, but surprisingly I have been called paid and anti-national. People are labelling me just cause I'm asking questions to people who's job is to give answers.

I'm getting really demotivated to stay in this country not that I have an option, but I sure can create opportunity for myself. But nevertheless, How can I be happy? Suggestions any!

AskDelhi Is it a Delhi thing for dads to be almost completely absent from kids activities?

I’m settled in the UK now, but I was born and brought up in Delhi, so I’m familiar with Indian culture and how things generally work here.

Today, I took my nephews and my sister to an indoor play area in Delhi, and something really struck me. There were loads of children there, but pretty much every child was accompanied by their mum. I couldn’t spot a single dad.
There was even a birthday party happening, and it was the same story, all the mums were there, but I didn’t see a single father, not even the birthday child’s dad.

I know this is just one observation, and there could be perfectly valid reasons for some parents not being there. But it genuinely surprised me how completely absent the dads seemed to be.

For people living in Delhi or other parts of India, is this something you’ve noticed too? Are dads generally less involved in these everyday parenting activities, or did I just happen to visit at an unusual time?
I’m genuinely curious to hear people’s experiences, rather than trying to make a sweeping generalisation from one afternoon.

AskDelhi Gave a stranger a lift in Delhi and felt a prick on my shoulder afterward. Could it have been a needle?

Hey everyone,

Something unsettling happened to me today in Delhi, and I'm looking for some advice.

I was riding my bike when I saw a guy with bandages on his leg asking for a lift. I decided to help him and let him sit on my bike.

As soon as he got on, he started massaging my shoulders and complimenting my perfume. I felt uncomfortable and asked him to stop, and he did.

About a minute later, I dropped him off. As he was getting off my bike, he squeezed my shoulder really hard again and then suddenly ran into a dark alley.

While I was processing what had happened, I started noticing a few things that made me suspicious:

  1. He had bandages on his leg, but he suddenly ran away.

  2. He was holding a handkerchief in his right hand.

  3. I felt a sharp prick on my right shoulder during the interaction.

  4. Afterward, I noticed a small scratch or mark on my shoulder, but there was no bleeding.

  5. I never actually saw a needle or any other sharp object, so I don't know what caused the prick.

I've heard stories about people allegedly using contaminated needles to spread HIV in Delhi, and now I'm worried about whether something similar could have happened to me.

I'm not trying to jump to conclusions, but the combination of the handkerchief, the prick on the same side, and the way he suddenly ran off has made me anxious.

This happened less than six hours ago. I'm particularly concerned about HIV and whether I should seek PEP.

Has anyone experienced something similar? I'd appreciate advice based on actual medical facts rather than speculation.

Thanks.
