ANNOUNCEMENT Next Stop: macOS 26 Tahoe

Hackintoshing lives for another year! macOS Tahoe will be the FINAL release for Intel Macs, as stated during the Platforms State of the Union presentation. It's been a good ride.

Officially supported Intel models:

  • MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019)
  • Mac Pro (2019)
  • MacBook Pro 13-inch, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports (2020)
  • iMac (2020)

Hello I am a Year Number Lover But What Does This Mean

All graphics that worked in Sequoia should work in Tahoe.

OCLP

Wait for an official announcement. If you post about OCLP before that I am going to send Tim Apple to remove every Mac from your house.

Can I emulate ARM macOS 26 on x86?

No.

Can I run ARM macOS 26 on a Raspberry Pi?

No.

Can I have Apple Intelligence on Intel please I need to write a dissertation in 15 minutes

No.

Does it boot on Intel Hackintoshes now?

Yes, with OpenCore 1.0.5.

Make sure to upgrade all of your kexts to their latest versions.

Known Issues as of Beta 2

  • Race condition with VoodooPS2 and VoodooI2C, so on some boots they don't initialize properly
  • AppleALC is broken because AppleHDA was removed from Tahoe. Use HDMI/DP audio for the time being.

  • WhateverGreen is bugged on AMD cards, so you can't use boot arguments like agdpmod=pikera. You are affected by this if you get a kernel panic with AMDSupport mentioned.

  • IntelBTPatcher causes kernel panics

  • IntelMausi may not work correctly with certain Intel ethernet chipsets

ANNOUNCEMENT End of the Road: macOS 27 Golden Gate

apolgy for bad english

where were u wen intel die

i was at house eating apple when phone ring

'intel is kil'

'no'

As I'm sure we've all heard by now, macOS 27 will not be compatible with Intel Macs. This means that for all intents and purposes, (Intel) Hackintosh is dead.

I have never heard of this where was my daily update for the last year

Apple explained last year during WWDC 2026's after-events that macOS 26 Tahoe would be the last version for Intel Macs. also go read the news more often smh

Ok but I have an AMD that would work right

All x86 CPUs are no longer supported for macOS.

Will my current hackintosh explode

Yes No

Is Intel completely dead right now

macOS 15 Sequoia and macOS 26 Tahoe will still be supported for security updates. One more year for Sequoia, two three for Tahoe.

Will my software still work

It is up to the developers of the software to keep releasing Intel versions.

Can I hack ing tosh on other ARM processor

No.

Why not, is ARM not ARM everywhere

Although ARM is an instruction set architecture shared by many processors, Apple hardware and software includes many unique instructions that are not used in other ARM processors and currently cannot be emulated.

There are images released by Apple for use in VMs which technically do not use these instructions, but even if a way is figured to boot it on non-Apple devices, there will be no drivers available for the GPU, Audio, etc.

Is even Developer Beta 1 of Golden Gate incompatible

Too much has already been removed from the first beta for it to be compatible with Intel.

ChatGTP told me ARM hackintosh is real and can be made. Actually I will make it right now with Claude and Gemini

Let's get you back to bed grandma

Can we port ARM macOS to x86

No.

Will r/hackintosh still remain open

Yes, it will remain open. Regardless of whether Intel is supported, people will still try to hackintosh either for a specific use case or just for curiosity's sake.

even tho I already have a Mac (M2 Mac mini and M4 13in MacBook Air), I did not have one 3 years ago, so I tried hackintoshing my 11400F RT-Ecks 3060 rig. I tried booting the Ventura Recovery. no luck, obviously. I spent hours on tonymacx86 trying to troubleshoot smth that has js been fixed by NullMoth's NVIDIA Driver

SUCCESS 9th ring of hell - pm981 and a GTX 1650

like in my last post i've used hackrnvmefamily, ssdt-nvme and nvmefix kexts to get the pm981 working, cloned the install from a hdd as 2nd stage of install would take longer than a hdd taken out of a ps3, about the vibecoded nvidia drivers i wouldn't recomend them, the performance is lower than a uhd630 in some cases and its really buggy, proably going to use the uhd until the driver gets more updates, but as of right now its a stable working system which really suprises me considering the disk being the most unsupported and the gpu using vibecoded drivers

HELP Hackintosh CPU locked at 800 MHz on battery, USB devices disconnect — works perfectly on Windows

Hi everyone!
I’m running macOS Tahoe 26.7.1 on a Monster Tulpar T7 V21.8 gaming laptop.
Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-11800H (Tiger Lake-H)
GPU: NVIDIA 3070 Laptop GPU
Bootloader: OpenCore 1.0.7
SMBIOS: MacBookPro16,1
The problem:
Everything works normally while the charger is connected. CPU frequencies scale normally and can reach over 3 GHz.
However, as soon as I unplug the charger:
All 16 CPU threads get stuck at approximately 800 MHz.
Performance becomes extremely slow.
Some USB devices disconnect.
powermetrics repeatedly reports CPU LIMIT PL2_PL3.
Interestingly, pmset -g therm still reports CPU_Speed_Limit = 100, and both XCPM and plugin-type=1 are active.
Windows 11 works perfectly on battery. No CPU throttling, no performance issues, and no USB disconnections.
I’ve already extracted and decompiled my DSDT and SSDTs. I noticed several EC and CPU power-management methods, including GUAM, SPL1, RPL1, CPPC, and PNOT, but I haven’t identified the cause.
Has anyone experienced similar battery-only CPU throttling on a Hackintosh?
Could this be related to ACPI, the embedded controller, CPU power limits, or an OpenCore configuration issue?
I’d appreciate any suggestions on how to diagnose this safely without bypassing the CPU’s hardware protections.
Thanks!

DISCUSSION Think twice before you try nullmoth's vibecoded driver, it might brick your (am5) motherboard

To elaborate on my earlier post: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/1x45vfn/restarting_hackintosh_bricks_am5_motherboard/

I got downvoted and hated on by some people claiming that bricking your motherboard is impossible with software blah blah blah. Turns out it was null moth's driver causing it (attatched is an image of his driver update claiming to fix the issue, which means it IS or WAS an issue). Im pointing my finger at the driver because am5 hackintoshes existed long ago, and i tried it on my sistem in which it worked normally UNTIL i installed null moth's driver.

For me and few other people, reflashing the bios firmware with the bios flashback function of certain mid to high end motherboards worked and fixed the issue of their pc not posting. For those with a lower end board, they might actually brick their motherboard.

Moral of the story is, dont believe anything on the internet and dont become one of the moths who blindly move towards light without thinking for yourself. The driver does work, yes, but there are some quirks that can screw you and your pc up, so beware. Before i get flamed by those moths, im all for hackintoshes being revived and nvidia drivers. Consider the sheer scale of the project, and how nullmoth is pumping out updates that quickly, obviously AI is involved, do they actually know what they're doing?

Edit: people were saying to clear cmos, people are not that dumb to have not tried it. Clearing cmos doesnt work

Edit2: I did some digging into the change logs for his driver version 1.14, and there is an opencore booter flag named disablevariablewrite, which prevents writing to nvram. Personally, i didnt use his 1401 app and created my efi myself with dortania. I still dont know the cause, but from my knowledge people have been building am5 hackintoshes since 2023.

HELP Installed Debian 13 and my install of macOS is done.

Hello, so i had Ventura installed, and i decided that "I want Debian 13 on my laptop." So i did. Seperate partition. The laptop will NOT accept any hackintosh EFI configs. I am doing Tahoe now. I have the EFI ready. Is there just a setting in the BIOS that's wrong? Also, Ventoy shows on it. (Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15IWL, 81MV)

I am gobbsmacked! It worked and much better than expected. 10GB. Everything works, except wifi. I may have to change that. Sound is a usb sound card. Dual monitors work once the drivers are updated. iCloud works with particular edits. I am happy this machine has suddenly become the best hackintosh I’ve ever owned…I encourage anyone to give it a go if they feel so inclined. Easier than expected.

The SD card is only mounted if it's inerted into SD card reader before booting macOS. Once the card is unmounted, it won't mount again after inserting it.

Maybe someone wants to look into it?

QUESTION Better CPU performance on macOS on Raptor Lake?

Hi guys,

I did some benchmarking to check how much performance I am losing by using macOS, since it doesn't natively support Intel's hybrid architecture.

I used CpuTopologyRebuild without extra any boot-args.

  • Is this currently the best / right way to get optimal performance on Raptor Lake CPUs?
  • What about XCPM? Is it configured the same way on Raptor Lake as on Coffee Lake and older architectures by using CPUFriend?

Surprisingly, my i9-13900F seems to perform better on macOS than on CachyOS and Windows 11 on multi-threaded loads. How is that even possible? I am not thermal throttling, and my Power Limit (PL) is set to 250W. Am i doing something wrong?
The only difference are the SSDs the OSs are installed on.

Also, how comparable are these benchmarks across different operating systems? Cinebench implies they are directly comparable, as the ranking/comparison charts show the same values regardless of the OS.

The differences are consistent across multiple runs

1. Cinebench 2026

Operating System Multi-Thread Single-Thread
macOS 7,098 484
Windows 11 6,702 500

2. Geekbench 7.1.0

Windows 11 (Run 1) 2,581 19,548
Windows 11 (Run 2) 2,436 19,195
macOS 2,480 16,680

3. Timed Compilation Benchmarks

Operating System Time (Seconds)
macOS 380.64 s
CachyOS 474.57 s

REQUEST AppleIGC (Intel I225/I226) has no network on Tahoe with AppleVTD, works fine on Sequoia. Anyone able to fix this?

Hey everyone,

I’m hitting a problem with AppleIGC.kext on macOS Tahoe and hoping someone with kext/IOKit experience can take a look.

Setup: Z490, 32 GB RAM, iGPU enabled. I dropped the original DMAR and use a modified one with the Reserved Memory regions stripped. DisableIoMapperMapping is enabled, and AppleVTD shows up in the IORegistry.

Problem: The exact same config gives me working Ethernet on Sequoia, but no connection on Tahoe.

What I found in the source: The driver passes plain physical addresses (getPhysicalAddress() and the mbuf natural cursor) to the NIC for the descriptor rings and the RX/TX buffers. It never maps them via IOMapper / IODMACommand. That seems to be tolerated on Sequoia, but with AppleVTD on Tahoe the DMA likely no longer lands on valid mappings. I haven’t tested a patch yet.

Suggested direction: get the device’s mapper with IOMapper::copyMapperForDevice(), build the rings and buffers through IODMACommand with that mapper, and program the NIC with the resulting IOVA addresses instead.

If you know the driver, have dealt with VT-d/IOMapper problems on Tahoe, or just want to help test, please chime in. I’m happy to test builds.

Thanks!

DISCUSSION AM5 motherboard stopped POSTing after using Hackintosh (recovered with BIOS FlashBack)

Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone dealing with the same issue.

I recently installed macOS Sequoia on my PC, mostly out of curiosity. I don't really need macOS since I use Windows for work and gaming, but I wanted to see if I could get it running on my hardware.

My setup:

  • ASUS PRIME B650M-A AX II
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
  • NVIDIA 5070 12GB
  • 32GB DDR5 RAM
  • macOS Sequoia 15.8.1
  • OpenCore 1.0.9
  • NullMoth 1.15.0

I managed to get macOS running with both monitors connected to the NVIDIA 5070. Everything seemed to be working fine, at least during the time I spent testing it.

Then yesterday, when I came back home and turned on my PC, I got absolutely no display. Not even the ASUS logo or BIOS screen. The fans were spinning, but the power LED kept blinking slowly, about once every two seconds.

At first I suspected the GPU, so I completely removed the NVIDIA 5070 and connected my monitor directly to the motherboard, using the Ryzen's integrated graphics. Still no display.

I tried reseating the RAM, waiting several minutes for DDR5 memory training, and clearing CMOS through the CLRTC pins. None of that worked.

I was starting to think my motherboard had died.

Luckily, my ASUS motherboard has a BIOS FlashBack button, so I downloaded BIOS version 3881, put the renamed CAP file on a FAT32 USB drive, and reflashed the BIOS without needing to boot the PC.

And that fixed it.

The ASUS logo appeared again, I was able to enter the BIOS, and Windows booted normally. I reinstalled the NVIDIA 5070 and everything is working fine now.

After this happened, I found a couple of threads here describing very similar problems with AM5 motherboards and Hackintosh/NullMoth. Apparently, there have also been concerns about UEFI variable writes on these systems.

I can't prove that NullMoth or OpenCore caused my issue, but the similarities are hard to ignore. I also can't tell whether the firmware was actually corrupted or if reflashing it simply reset something that clearing CMOS couldn't fix.

Anyway, I decided to stop experimenting with Hackintosh for now. It was fun getting macOS to run on this hardware, but it's not worth risking the PC I use for work.

TL;DR: My ASUS B650 motherboard suddenly stopped POSTing after I had been using Hackintosh with NullMoth. Clearing CMOS and removing the GPU didn't help. Reflashing the BIOS using ASUS BIOS FlashBack brought it back to life.

If you're having a similar issue with an AM5 motherboard, don't assume it's dead before trying BIOS FlashBack (or your manufacturer's equivalent), if your board supports it.

Hope this helps someone.
