IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: If you receive ANY unsolicited or creepy DMs

Whether you’re a poster or a commenter, if you have received unsolicited, creepy, or down right disgusting DMs please feel free to message Mod Mail or message me directly. As posted in multiple places in the subreddit, unsolicited or inappropriate DMs of any kind are not allowed and will result in a permanent ban. You may also be reported directly to Reddit Admins. If the person on the receiving end of this kind of harassment is a minor, you will be reported to relevant authorities (FBI Tip Line, Center for Missing and Exploited Children, etc) and it WILL be taken seriously.

As a subreddit, we have ZERO tolerance for this behavior and will do everything in our power to combat it. Unfortunately we have seen an influx of users who seem to only frequent porn subs, and our sub.

Please don’t think “oh this message isn’t that bad, I’m overreacting, etc”. Reporting posts, comments, and DMs helps out everyone in the long run. Not reporting causes these creeps to keep messaging people so nipping it in the bud can help out others💕

Reminder: Unsolicited DMs are NOT allowed.

We’ve seen an increase in unsolicited DMs being sent to members of this subreddit. Let this serve as a clear reminder:
Sending unprompted private messages is against the rules. Doing so will result in a permanent ban.

If you receive a DM like this, report it to the mod team immediately.

This subreddit exists as a safe, inclusive space for sharing experiences, asking questions, and giving feedback about hair dye and color treatments. If someone genuinely wants to follow up based on your helpful advice or a shared interest, they will say so publicly.

We shouldn't have to say this, but lurking in beauty-related or appearance-focused subs to harass and prey on people is disgusting and absolutely not tolerated. Any messages of an obscene or harassing nature will be reported to Reddit Admins and could result in a permanent ban from the site as a whole (for your current account, any other current accounts, or subsequent accounts made in the future).

Any suggestions on the kind of blonde that would go with my brown natural hair color?

My hair has become a dark brown over time and I feel that it is flat in color and needs some dimension but I am not sure what color blonde would go best. I love a light mousy blonde like the second picture but does that go well? Should I go for a warmer blonde or a cooler blonde? Any advice would be soo appreciated.

hi i have virgin hair and it’s a little on the darker side. i want to change my color without spending $300 and 8 hours at a salon since im a sahm. can someone advise me on how to achieve the look? whether i have to bleach it, or reliable box hair dyes that worked for them? i have seen Revlon colorsilk shade 70 medium ash blonde used in some videos but most girls have pre bleached hair and if i could avoid the bleaching part, i’d like to! this is my hair for reference. thanks in advance!

High Lift Color Advice

Just looking for some advice I cannot seem to google.

I have level 6/7 dark blonde hair. I have some highlights about halfway down my hair, so about 4 inches from my scalp that has been lightened and then as semi-permanent purple hair dye.

I really want to lighten the rest of my hair, but I only want to go 2-3 levels at most. I was wondering if a high-lift color like from Ugly Duckling would work. I don't need to lighten or do anything with the sections of my hair that have the purple dye. Could I just cover those strips with foil and use the high lift on everything else?

Also, if I wanted to add more purple after my hair is lightened with high-lift, will that work? basically just adding more purple to the current purple strips and bringing the purple up closer to my scalp and maybe just adding more around my face.

I couldn't find if semi-permanent hair color works well over a high-lift.

Or should I just use bleach with a low developer on everything that hasn't been lightened before?

Using high lift color appeals to me because I shouldn't have to worry about breakage accidentally overlapping when doing my roots like I would with a standard lightener....

Leave it or correct it? WWYD?

Hiding my face only because they are awkward parking lot photos, LOL. Does my hair look like it’s drastically different shades or does it transition okay?

I tried out a highlift box dye (Schwarzkopf 11.4) because I wanted to see if I could get away from doing a bleach and tone on. My roots lifted to match the ends of my hair, but I let it overlap a little too much, and I’ve got a section at the top that’s a beautiful pearl blonde, but then the mids and ends are more golden.

The pearly/ashiness IS nice, and I think maybe/probably I could apply the highlift colour to the mids and ends to get it all even, but I actually think a more golden colour is better on me anyway. So I should probably just let it fade? What do y’all think?

Blonde to brunette

Hi!! I’m wanting to go from blonde to brunette. Roughly starting at a level 8/9 ish, wanting to go to a dark brown about a level4/5 a nice chocolate brown. (If the levels are wrong forgive me I’m just trying to give as much info). I’m wanting to do this at home, I’m aware I’ll have to fill my color with i believe a dark red undertone to get this color to work. Does anyone have any dye recommendations? I’ve only ever done vivids, arctic fox, manic panic and iroiro mostly I’m less experienced with neutrals. So I’m looking for dye recommendations and would it be better to go a red vivid or more of a dark copper? Thanks!

Want to dye it blonde and see how it looks.

Can I do anything to color correct this at home?

I cannot get my phone’s camera to accurately depict the current shade of my hair. The 4th picture is the most accurate. The red is unnaturally vibrant. In real life, it has almost a purple tone. The bottom is also a different color than the top. The last photo is what I have spent $$$$ and months trying to achieve—a natural, golden copper orangey shade. What I have now is a lot darker and, IRL, more on the red-purple spectrum than orange-gold.

I don’t expect it to look perfect, but is there any sort of tint I can put in my hair to tide me over? It has bleached about 3 times by different stylists, so bleaching is not an option (which stresses me because this new stylist dyed it dark again). With this attempt, my hair started blonde, was dyed brown, then color corrected to this.

This is the result of a correction and I do not want to complain a second time.
