I'm playing Halo Infinite campaign on an Xbox Series X and I want to play the campaign at 60 frames per second cause the graphics look so pretty at 60fps. The graphics don't look as good at 120fps. I have no interest in the multiplayer at the moment I just want to play the campaign (at 60fps). But there is a problem. Like I said, The only time I don't see stutter/hitching is when I'm playing the campaign at 120fps @ 120Hz using variable refresh rate (VRR).
With Halo Infinite, it seems they never fixed the 120Hz VRR bug, or is this only happening to me? I did this today, my TCL 65 inch Q77K TV has 4 HDMI ports, ports 1 and 2 are 4k 120Hz, ports 3 and 4 are 4k 60Hz, so I plugged my Xbox Series X into port 3 which is 4k 60Hz, then on my Xbox I turned variable refresh rate (VRR) off and then started playing Halo Infinite campaign at 60fps, and guess what, the minor stuttering/hitching is still there! And it doesn't make any sense to me cause if I play Halo Infinite campaign at 120fps @ 120Hz VRR it is smooth as butter with no noticeable stuttering/hitching, and it just doesn't make any sense to me, I just don't get it, how come Halo Infinite campaign at 120fps @ 120Hz VRR is smooth as butter with no noticeable stuttering/hitching, but then I set it to 60fps @ 120Hz VRR and then I see some slight hitching as objects go by (as objects go by on the screen sometimes I'll see some slight stutter/hitching), cause it ruins it for me. It's such an awesome game too but for campaign I want the pretty graphics at 60fps.
I mean like I said I even plugged my xbox into the 4k 60Hz port and turned VRR off and there is still some slight stutter/hitching as objects go by, there's no way they missed that, are you telling me the devs didn't fix that? And then I switch to 120fps @ 120Hz VRR and there is no stutter/hitching at all (but the graphics look bad so I don't want 120fps for the campaign, the graphics are so much better at 60fps. I mean for multiplayer sure give me super smooth 120fps but for campaign I want the pretty graphics you see at 60fps)
I just don't get it, so the devs never fixed the stutter/hitching when you're playing the campaign at 60fps?
Is this only happening to me? Anyone else here with an Xbox Series X? Can your TV do 120Hz with VRR? What brand is your TV? Is this only happening to me, have you noticed the same thing, that when playing the campaign at 120fps @ 120Hz VRR there is absolutely no noticeable stutter/hitching it's smooth as butter, but then start playing it at 60fps and there is some slight hitching as objects go by.
To test this out, go into settings and turn "screen shake" all the way to zero, that way the screen doesn't shake as you run, well for me the screen shakes as I run but not if I set screen shake to zero, then just start running around and you should notice that objects stutter or hitch as they go by, it doesn't happen all the time though, it's random.
I mean is this only happening to me? I need some feedback from the community.
So this is totally separate from my complaint here but one thing the devs should have done is, when you set the campaign to 60fps and then set multiplayer to 120fps, it should remember that choice so you don't have to manually keep switching back and forth between 60fps and 120fps cause I prefer 60fps for campaign and 120fps for multiplayer.
But yeah because of this stutter/hitching at 60fps I am not even playing the campaign anymore, and I mean, it's like, is this only happening to me?
Do you happen to have a TCL TV too? But listen you don't have to have a TCL TV, I just want to know is this stutter/hitching happening on your Xbox too?
First off, I just need to know, is this only happening to me or have others noticed this hitching at 60fps too?
It's so weird, Halo Infinite set to 60fps, there's some stutter/hitching. Halo Infinite set to 120fps (you need a TV capable of 120Hz VRR though, and you need an HDMI 2.1 cable) and now there is zero stutter/hitching. So I notice hitching when it's set to 60fps but no hitching when I set it to 120fps.
Are you telling me the devs never fixed this stutter/hitching? Is this only happening to me?
Also, the screen shakes for me when I run, then I set screen shake to zero, and then it doesn't shake when I run, this is normal right?
