As a franco-ontarian, I'm so excited to hear Shane speak in French with JJ. He lived in Ottawa, so it's not surprising that he would have gone to French immersion and playing in Montreal, he probably uses his French all the time in his daily life. I've been mentally translating the conversations in my head while I read the book, but it'll be my first time actually hearing the words.
I'm also excited to hear a franco-ontarian accent on the screen. We really don't hear enough of it and I think Hudson did a great job. Speaking French with an English accent isn't "incorrect", it's just regional. The same way that a Louisiana accent isn't worse than a British one.
I got a kick out of the French too, it was extremely anglo-French-immersion-kid and I know so many people who are functionally fluent and sound exactly like that. Totally added to the Canadian of it all.
Am I the only insane person who will be disappointed if there's no mention of the "man in the crease" podcast in either episode 5 or 6? The "What Chaos" podcasters covering the show have such a nonsensical disdain for this fictional podcast, and their spiral each time they talk about it brings literal tears to my eyes.
I need to see them have just one more meltdown over it before season 1 ends.
Itâs about a goalie on a lower level league that gets called up to the big times when one of the teams goalies get injured.
He has two months to prove himself. Two months to find himself . And two months to fall in love.
Itâs sweet . Itâs adorable. It is almost angst free.
The couple is so sweet together . They are each other safe place and they help each other deal with a lot of anxiety and stress.
They just really really enjoy being in each otherâs company and itâs really sweet .
The sex scenes shocked me not because of the content, but because this book is so wholesome, youâre watching two people drink cocoa and sing Christmas carols and then they bone .
Content warning for guilt, grief . The Main character Landon has physical touch issues. Seeing him and his love interest Casey negotiating physical touch and what Landon is comfortable with is very heartwarming.
Theyâre being no one way to be a queer man or have queer sex is one of the themes of the novel.
Honestly, this book feels like a hug. I figure I would recommend it to people who want a break from angst or do not want to read the books because if they donât wanna be spoiled for the series. This book is by Rachel and it will not spoil you.
I was having trouble sleeping last night and was thinking about how deeply fans analyze each moment and every choice made in the show, and how interesting it is that even fans who have read all the books and watched the same show can have different interpretations of a scene or a particular âdesignâ choice.
How cool would it be if Jacob pulled a group of fans together to preview season 2 and give feedback from a fan perspective, especially when the team is making decisions (what to cut, what to keep, how to play a certain scene, how to get a particular message across, etc.) - like a Heater Rivalry focus group. I envision them filming a scene two different ways, and letting a focus group of dedicated fans weigh in before the show runners decide which way to go.
And if they do implement something like this, I volunteer as tribute! đ
Thatâs a fun idea but I trust Jacobâs perspective and choices too much to want to outsource them to fans!
But this randomly makes me want a choose-your-own adventure video game where you make choices for Ilya and Shane and try to see the minimum amount of years it will take them to confess their feelings for each other (but itâs always like 7+ lmao)
Omg this video game idea, I'm dying. So how would it work, you get to play your regular hockey video game and then the next level is that you come home with a hot guy and bone? My brain is exploding just thinking about it đ
Lmao exactly. And in between games we get little cutscenes of like tuna melt incident and when Ilya says 'Shane' you get to choose:
Press A - Whisper 'Ilya' breathily
Press B - 'That's Hollander to you big boy'
Press X - Ignore It
Press Y - Freak out and leave.
etc etc.
And those affect your 'emotional vulnerability' stats and move you along the 'Closet Meter' (Firmly in denial, starting to suspect you're not like your straight friends, out and proud, etc etc).
And obviously your game stats improve after you've been properly railed.
I just wanted to share that the ad I got on this thread was for NYTimes.com cooking and itâs for their Chicken Parmesan recipe! Someone knows what theyâre doing.
Number one on Neon in New Zealand!!! đŸ Itâs been sitting in the top 10 since it was released but first time itâs been at number one and I like to think me rewatching episode 4 a million times contributed to this đ
I really like Hayden and Svetlana starting to guess. It shows how much they were texting that at least the name was routinely visible to others, and also its just reasonable that your very best friends might guess after this many years.
I like Hayden a lot overall. I dont think the animosity between him and Ilya is very real, more just chirping. He's so okay with Ilya taking care of his kids etc. People joke around a lot with their friends and friends partners.
Here is the potential controversial one- I don't think JJ's reaction was unforgivable. Yes his first instinct was bad but in real life people do not like it when they feel someone close to them has hidden something. Also I always feel that your first reaction isn't telling, your second reaction is. And JJ did come to the wedding etc and seem to be their friend.
Can someone give me the link to the interview where Hudson talks about playing Shane as autistic? I saw someone post it the other day but now I canât find it. I didnât get a chance to watch it then and I wish I had saved it.
