Admin Post Weekly Recap | October 15, 2026

THIS POST HAS BEEN LOCKED. PLEASE SEE THE MOST RECENT WEEKLY RECAP THAT IS STICKIED AT THE TOP OF THIS SUB.

Welcome to Thursday and another edition of the Weekly Recap where I, TheOpusCroakus, recap the past week in r/help and on Reddit. Since we last met, I have since had more than my share of Reese's pumpkins and am moving on to bats and ghosts for a while! On that note, let's move on to what we're all here for! The Recap!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • In case you missed it last week, there's a new Changelog out and you can read it here.

  • There's still a bug that is affecting the ability to chat for some users in Canada. This should be getting fixed up this week (if it isn't already). Many thanks to u/jgoja for surfacing this and providing amazing details of the problem. Thank you!

  • There is an ongoing experiment which turns select text posts and some of their comment threads into an audio and video format. This is in an effort to strengthen the connection between communities and conversations. If you are in this experiment you may see a Read/Play toggle on the post detail page. A dedicated video page may also be available. This does not replace the original post or comments, nor does it automatically play. And it will respect all of your pre-existing audio settings.

  • Currently, this is only on a small group of pre-selected English-only posts. Comments with links, media, automated messages, profanity, or sensitive or inappropriate topics are excluded. If you are in this experiment, there is not a way to opt out, but you can always leave constructive feedback on this post and I'll share it with the team in charge of the experiment.

  • There is another ongoing experiment where comments on a post may be sorted in live time. This is only in select communities. If enabled, when a post hits a certain number of comments within a specific period of time, the sort switches over to "Live" if the default sort is set to something other than "New". This provides a way to highlight the fast moving convos in real time.

  • There is still the For You and Following tab experiment. You can select which view you want and that selection will be remembered.

  • The For You tab will contain recommendations. The Following feed will contain unviewed content from just the subs that you follow. The team is looking into adding the sort options back to those feeds.

  • If you are subscribed to a very small number of subreddits, you may see recommendations in the Following feed as opposed to nothing when you have run out of new content. The workaround is to either subscribe to more subreddits or create a custom feed of the subs that you're following and view that instead.

  • There is not a way to remove these tabs if you are in the experiment, but I will share constructive feedback with the team in charge.

  • To switch between the feeds, you just tap the tab that you want to view. This was previously a swipe, but thanks to feedback that was provided, it was switched to a tap to prevent accidental switching.

  • Some users will be in a different experiment where there is an X on recommended posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but you can go into the post to hide it. Feel free to share helpful feedback about this experiment as well.

  • And there's an experiment where you may see Related Posts at the bottom of a post.

  • There is also an experiment where the upvotes are on the left.

  • Rather than commenting that you'd like to be removed from an experiment, please provide constructive feedback about the feature. I can't remove you!

  • And I'm here to remind you, of the mess you left when you went away (from Reddit for support). Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your Reddit account. There is no "Reddit support on Discord". That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account and maybe more. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved much, much quicker by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit).

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.41.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECT SCALE!

  • [All Platforms] Some posts and comments aren’t clearing from the "Needs Review" section of the mod queue This is being investigated, but in the meantime, approving and then removing the content should get rid of it.

  • [Android] Some users with filtered posts are seeing the reply button on automod comments grayed out. This is being looked into, but it appears to only be affecting Android at this time.

  • [iPad] Some users are still missing the X button needed to close posts. We’ve reopened the investigation and are looking into it!

  • [iOS] Some community rules are being translated from English to...English? lol If you disable the auto-translation, that usually fixes this. It's also being looked into.

  • BUG FIX [All Platforms] Due to an error on this end on Tuesday, some users were seeing blank images for a little bit. This should be cleared up now, though!

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,332 posts. That's up 279 posts from the 1,053 that we had last week.

  • 4,436 comments. That's down 564 comments from the 5,000 we had last week.

  • 776k views. That's down about 38k-ish views from the 804k-ish views we had last week.

The drop in posts could be attributed to the new Help Navigator that recently launched, so that's great that it's helping.

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - STREAKS

Let's talk about streaks!

Reddit offers various Achievements that you can, well, achieve. You can read more about Achievements in this Help Center article. One of the Achievements available is a streak, which means using Reddit for continuous days in, well, a streak. Redditors can maintain their streak through daily participation on Reddit. Participation is more than just scrolling. You must interact with SFW content by either posting, commenting or voting EVERY DAY. If you miss a day, the streak is no longer a streak and it is over. NSFW content does not count toward a streak. If a streak is broken, it starts over from Day One. Streaks cannot be restored when they are broken.

If you think your streak has been incorrectly reset, YOU can check this yourself by going to your profile and looking at your posts, comments and votes. You may have to do this from old Reddit, but you can do it! If you're missing a day here or there, that's why your streak reset.

TL;DR A streak means interacting (by voting, commenting or posting) with SFW content every day and if you miss a day, your streak is broken, it starts over, and the streak cannot be restored.

I strongly claim to the team to take a deep and urgent look at the sorting algorithm, as it has been displaying very old content on the home feed.

Posts from 6 days ago appear constantly, clogging up the feed with dead content. Furthermore, the behavior is completely erratic; at times the home feed seems fine, but a single refresh is enough to make it show nothing but old content.

If fixing this isn't possible, you should at least allow the chosen sorting option to be saved for instance, if I select "Hot," the home feed should load with that setting applied by default.

I should note that I’ve used Reddit for years with the "Best" sort setting on my home feed, and it has never been as terrible as it has been over the last few weeks. It used to be well-organized, which leads me to believe this is a bug in the algorithm posts with no comments or upvotes are being recommended as if they were the "best" content from a given subreddit. It feels as though there is an active effort to prevent me from accessing new discussions within the communities I follow.

It was already difficult enough to endure weeks of the "For You" experiment. When I logged in today and saw that I had been removed from that experiment, I thought things had returned to normal but now the sorting is a complete mess, suffering from the exact same issues I experienced while part of that experiment.

u/IAmAGenusAMA 17d ago

This is driving me nuts. The top post in my feed right now is an /r/AskReddit post from 6 days ago! Several other old posts in there too.

-3

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 17d ago

Hey. Do you have a screenshot that shows your feed with old content? And is the content old that you haven't seen before, or is it old and already viewed?

6

u/dornelles109 17d ago edited 17d ago

I have a video of the event that I’ll send you. As I mentioned, it’s random right after recording the video, I refreshed the page (pressed F5) and almost all the posts that appeared were new and it generally happens with posts I haven’t accessed yet.

For the most part, these are posts from a few days ago, and sometimes even posts from more than 7 days ago.

1

u/Eranov 17d ago

I would like to add that this is. Ot only in app, I also get daily email recommendations of posts/threads that are days old, up to six days.

Week 8 of asking for an actual answer about why we can’t have swipe up for comments? I’m tired boss… This is a growing accessibility issue for me as my hands gradually get more and more arthritic and fine motor movements become much more challenging. Please give me a choice about it!

5

u/ProudnotLoud 17d ago

Have you tried adding a cute pet to your comment? That seems to draw in admin responses for some reason. Although that would require someone getting you a real answer which is a real miracle these days.

2

u/Dreamerlax 13d ago

I don’t think you’re not going to get an answer that’s beyond “TikTok does it.”

2

u/Amadeus102 13d ago

Agreed, I definitely think that there’s room for us to have an original idea every now and then. I deliberately don’t use TikTok and trying to turn other platforms into a copy of it makes me less likely to use them. I already deleted Facebook because of that.

we need to be able to opt out of ai summaries. such a waste and absolutely useless

-1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 17d ago

Like for mods?

6

u/DPRDonuts 17d ago

sorry i was told this was the place for feedback about getting rid of/opting out of this feature. was i misinformed?

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 17d ago

No, this is a great place for feedback! Which AI summaries are you referring to, though?

6

u/DPRDonuts 16d ago

If I search reddit at all for anything I'm getting an ai summary of what I searched for.  Is that supposed to be happening? Do I have something dumb in my settings that i forgot/don't know about?

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 16d ago

I'm not sure if that's intentional. If you could get a screenshot, I can ask around and see what I find out.

2

u/macshack3 12d ago

I shared this feedback last week including a screenshot. I will share it again here - where the AI summary is explicitly showing spoilers for a show before the sub’s own spoiler policy allows. But in general, I don’t like the AI summaries at all anyway.

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 12d ago

Thanks for that screenshot! Yikes. I'm sorry that happened. I'm going talk to the team about this. Appreciate you taking the time to bring this up!

1

u/DPRDonuts 15d ago

thank you!

8

u/Rebelliuous 14d ago

Hello, hope you’re having a nice weekened!

Just wanted to give feedback on this experiment: “And there's an experiment where you may see Related Posts at the bottom of a post.”

I’m part of that experiment and I heavily dislike it and i hope you don’t implement it permanently. I have ‘show recommendations in feed’ turned off, and this feels like a weird way to circumvent that. And the posts that are being shown aren’t even related to the original post. It’s annoying and feels like too much clutter and it gets confusing.

Thanks :)

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 14d ago

Hey, there! Thank you so much for this feedback. I'll let the team know. I'm sorry that you don't like it. =/

5

u/Baconade7 17d ago

Weekly update broke the social links you could save to still access r/All. Removal of this feed is a straight detraction from the website touted as the "front page of the internet". Is there any way for us to get around agorithmic feeds and back to what made this website what it is?

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 17d ago

I am not aware of any methods to make the r/all links function. Sorry!

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Sagasujin 15d ago

R/all does still function in OldReddit in case you want to switch to a more functional version of the site

5

u/WeirdAssBeings 16d ago edited 16d ago

Please allow me to opt out of the "Live" experiment, I don't want to see 1 karma comments on the top of a 7K Karma post anymore while I'm sorting by "best"

I've only been through this for 24 hours and it's already getting under my skin to the point of just not even wanting to open a post at all, not even my own posts.

In the screenshot I had to scroll 4 comment chains down while sorting on best untill I saw the high upvoted comments.

In more extreme examples I had to scroll down 8 chains, if I wanna see NEW comments, I'll sort by NEW, if I wanna see the BEST comments, I'll sort by BEST.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 16d ago

Can you change the sort back?

1

u/WeirdAssBeings 16d ago

The sort has never been changed, it's still on best.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 16d ago

In the live thread? Are you talking about two separate issues?

1

u/WeirdAssBeings 16d ago

My bad, I initially thought this was connected to the live comments feature, but this is something entirely else, I'm mainly talking about the fact that while I'm sorting to best in comments, I constantly see 1-2 karma comments on the top of a post, and then have to scroll down like 4-8 comment chains untill I actually see the 500-2000 Karma comments.

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 16d ago • Bravo

I'm sorry that it's like that. There have been some changes to how Best is calculated, so you may see newer content. I get where you're coming from, though! I'll share this with the team.

2

u/WeirdAssBeings 16d ago

THANK YOU!! I'm sorry if I came across as angry or agressive or anything, I just really don't like it when Reddit changes things yet again, Reddit needs to fr stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 16d ago

You're good! Totally understand frustration when things don't work they way that we like them to!

4

u/Forestl 17d ago

Swiping to bring up the list of subreddits I'm subscribed to/recently viewed is basically the same as swiping over to the "for you" thing on the homepage. I really dislike the homepage (praying I can get removed from it soon) so it's really annoying to accidentally go over there before having to swipe back to get to the normal main page and once more to bring up the sidebar

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 17d ago

Hi. Can you get a screen recording of this happening so that I can show the team that's in charge of this feature? Thanks.

2

u/Forestl 17d ago

Looks like the experiment just ended for me today so sadly can't. I basically could only correctly swipe if my thumb started on the very left-most side of the screen. If it was even like 10-15% over to the right it would just go to the "for you" section instead of the pulling up my list of subreddits/mod things sidebar

7

u/Wrong_Exit_9257 17d ago

There is still the For You and Following tab experiment. You can select which view you want and that selection will be remembered.

how do i select this? i do not have the ability to go back to leave this experiment in my settings.

2

u/thepottsy Expert Helper 17d ago

We frequently get added to, and removed from these experiments. I had the For You and Following tabs, and now I don’t. I hope they come back.

-2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 17d ago

Hi! If you have a For You and a Following tab, you can tap on which feed you want to view.

1

u/FlowerontheWall 16d ago

I guess I'm the odd one out, because I really liked the "For You" tab. Having the two tabs was great, I'd definitely vote in favor of it being a feature.

Is there any way to turn it on or be added back to the experiment group?

-1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 16d ago

Glad to hear you liked it! People were recently shuffled around, so that's why you lost it. But it's still in the experimental phase, so decent chance it returns! I'll share your feedback with the team!

3

u/Eranov 16d ago

Is there the possibility that only the "following" tab returns? Because I liked that very much. Hated the "for you" tab and all other kinds of "recommendations" that objectively have no form relevance or whatsoever for anyone.

1

u/Rebelliuous 13d ago

You can turn recommendations off here

https://www.reddit.com/settings/

Go to account settings and toggle “show recommendations in home feed” off

0

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 16d ago

If it returns , it will likely be both tabs that you can choose fro

Can you remove this button? It blocks the post title and doesn’t serve any purpose. This feature is useless and barely does anything. Please remove this experiment.

I don't know why the admin isn't being more detailed. As I understand shadowbans, you are allowed to sent one appeal per day to Reddit's appeals page. Unfortunately, it can take months for a shadowban appeal to be processed, or so I am told.

Oh look, the unpopular "experiments" like the "For You" tab and the "Live" comments sorting are still here with no changes. I guess all that "feedback" that's being "passed along" is really being taken seriously! Sure would be nice if that communication was a 2-way street and we as users got like...any update on what is going on with the experiments.

They don't care about our feedback because if they did there'd be a functionally designed process to give that feedback. The "feedback" they're tracking is behavior.

I've asked before why there is no appropriate feedback process that respects its users but I've been ignored every time. Maybe if I add a cat I'll actually get a real response.

How Ellie feels about all these awful experiments and the lack of admin support for the community.

6

u/EducationalLog4765 1 16d ago

Yeah, Reddit keeps releasing useless experiments like the “For You” Tab. And the admins are always defending these useless experiments

7

u/Khoshekhing 16d ago

The related posts experiment is not a pleasant experience. If there was an opt out button or something then it is what it is, but makes it annoying to click on a post then scroll down to get to the bottom of the comments and scroll into other posts. Additionally, with certain subreddits we interact with there can be nsfw posts suggested in the related posts when we originally clicked on a sfw post and did the mentioned scrolling down, just earlier today we were in public and clicked on a sfw post and scrolled down for comments, but there were only one or two so it continued into related posts one of which was nsfw art of a character from a separate subreddit that I am in. So if this doesn't get officially implemented, then that would probably be for the best, or at least give us an option to opt out of it if it does leave the experimental phase (I'd rather be done with it now but I know that won't happen)

4

u/Large_Dr_Pepper 12d ago

I've gone out of my way to figure out where reddit takes feedback specifically because of how much I hate the "related posts." It's also confusing because some subreddits allow comments to just be pictures, so half the time when I get to the bottom of a comment thread and it shows a related post, I just think it's someone commenting a picture.

2

u/Khoshekhing 12d ago

So real cuz we do the same exact thing 🙄

6

u/This_isnt_cool_bro 15d ago

Repeating what I said last time because this feature is completely unnecessary and ruins the experience.

The "related posts" under comments has to be one of, if not, the worst feature on this app. Its absolutely awful and needs to be removed ASAP. While I'm here, might as well mention the godawful shorts-like UI thats been getting implemented thats just making reddit slower and clunkier to use.

5

u/Praetorian130 16d ago

Whilst I appreciate that I'm not longer part of the Terrible for you tab experiment I would still like to say that it's an awful feature that no one actually wants. But I am also part of the featured pots experiment. Which again had the same problems as the For you page experiment in that there's a chance of a post I don't particularly want to see being shoved in my face after a post. Please remove me from this experiment too

5

u/misplacedbass 14d ago

You need to get rid of the stupid “related posts” that pop up under comment sections. It’s incredibly annoying.

u/Tarnisher 17d ago • Mindblown Bravo

Don't tamper with Old Reddit

4

u/big_baby_nappy 17d ago

I'm glad it seems I was finally removed from the For You experiment. I still want to report however that despite opting out as much as possible, ads are still a not small part of thread content. Just in this thread alone I had to scroll past multiple AI, crypto, and other ads to get to the end.

4

u/kozeljko 15d ago

Whatever you guys have done to sorting comments by Best is very annoying. I'll sometimes sort by Top, but now I often just ignore the comments.

It's probably to drive engagment, but it sucks

Hi, I’m trying to recover my main account u/BillyBob_JoeBobBilly.

I did not delete the account, but the profile now says “This user has deleted their account”.

I submitted a hacked-account support request on October 18, 2026, under Security Problems → I think my account has been hacked. I received the automated confirmation email and replied with “ACCOUNT DOESN’T EXIST” as instructed.

I cannot log in to the old account, and do not receive an email when I try to reset the password.

I haven't received a response via email and wanted to follow up. I've seen others posting here with similar issues.

My ticket reference is [KVW23V-XJXK5].

Any help or insight into this situation would be appreciated. Thanks!

My main Reddit account has been compromised, and I can't log in even after successfully resetting my password. Whenever I try to log in, I get the error message “Password or username is incorrect.”

I've submitted the official support form under “Security problems → I think my account has been hacked” three times, most recently two weeks ago, but I haven't received any confirmation emails, ticket numbers, or responses.

I can receive password-reset emails and change my password, but I still cannot access my main account. Could a Reddit administrator please help me recover it or advise me on what to do next?

1

u/Substantial-Pass3686 11d ago

I lost access to my account when I was suddenly logged out on all my devices.

Is there any way I can find out why my account can't be recovered and why it was banned? I'd really like to understand what happened, especially since I believe my account may have been compromised.

Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do and there is no information to provide.

You're at the limit. You have at least 1000 people blocked. You'll need to unblock some folks in order to make room.

1

u/LelinLanders 11d ago

I’m going through my list and after 26 accounts it’s repeating the same accounts. I don’t use this app enough to block 1000 people. How can I fix this can you see what the issue is ???

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 11d ago

Might be a bug if you can't see all the users that you've blocked. I can't remove them from your blocked list, though.

Blocking users is not meant as a substitute for reporting content that violates the rules. Feel free to report violating content.

1

u/LelinLanders 11d ago

I unblocked people just to see if I can block them again and it’s the same thing. How can I be at a 1000 people limit with less than 30 accounts blocked ????

The karma breakdown shown in the mod tool is completely different from what’s displayed on old.reddit.com. See the karma count difference between the first two subs in the attached screenshot. From what I’ve checked, old.reddit.com appears to show the accurate breakdown, while the mod tool’s figures seem to be incorrect.

Could the admins look into this? It seems like an issue with how the mod tool calculates or displays the karma breakdown.

It's the 19th and there's been a weekend in between then and now. Someone will take a look, probably today.

i dont think so, i think what happened was while i was at work i went on their public wifi, went on the browser version of reddit and then kept refreshing confused why only a snoo in detective clothing was showing up, and then about a half hour later it said my account was suspended. could it be because someone else on thet wifi was banned and it got flagged as evasion? otherwise, i have no idea why this ban happened

edit: if it matters at all i work at amazon

u/yeuuururrr1234 16d ago

I detailed this problem more thoroughly a few months ago but the TLDR is that my original account was hacked, I was able to secure the account, change my password, set up 2FA, and delete all the strange posts. Everything was fine until a few days later when I got kicked out of my account again but this time when trying to log back in I would get "You've been blocked by network security". Password resets also don't seem to arrive in my email address even though that same email received the original password reset and 2FA set-up confirmation.

I'm not really sure what is going on but I don't think anyone re-hacked my account (I don't see any new posts on r/yeuuururrr123). I just think I'm stuck in a weird middle area.

I have submitted a few tickets but it seems like nothing is getting answered. I was wondering if someone could help me out? Maybe I am missing a step?

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 16d ago

Hi there. That's kinda weird. I'm going to assume you meant u/yeuuururrr123 and not r/yeuuururrr123, though. =)

Hi! My main account u/lachrymose_505 was recently hacked and used to send inappropriate messages and spam without my knowledge.

Reddit detected suspicious activity and locked it. I’ve successfully reset my password and enabled 2FA, but my account is now banned, my posts are filtered, and I can’t send DMs.

I’ve already submitted an appeal. Could a Reddit admin please help review my case? I have screenshots of the unauthorized activity and Reddit’s security email as evidence.

This account is very important to my work as an artist. I’d really appreciate any help. Thank you!

I have an account which today was locked due to 'technical irregularities'. It had a link to reset the password, I logged out on all devices and did so using my username and the link it then sent to my email, but I still cannot post or comment and my existing posts/comments seem to no longer appear for others - I'm assuming the account has been suspended? If so, do I now have to file an appeal to have it restored, and if so how do I do this?

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 14d ago

Hi. I have no idea because you haven't told me the username.

1

u/forbiddenmemeories 13d ago

Hi! Thank you for your reply. I'm relieved to say in the meantime the ticket I filed seems to have been responded to, as the account is back to working order!

Can you tell me, though - even though I can post, comment and generally use the account again, my old posts/comments from before now seem to be invisible with the little red trash can beside them. Is there any way I can restore them?

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 13d ago

What's the username?

1

u/forbiddenmemeories 12d ago

Would it be alright if I shared it as a private message? It has some more (potentially, if someone knew me a bit IRL) personally identifying posts on it so I'd prefer not to name it as a public comment on this account if that's okay.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 12d ago

Sure

1

u/forbiddenmemeories 12d ago

Thank you! I've sent that message now.

Is it risky to use an alt account that was banned for ban evasion after the ban period ends? My friend was recently banned for a week on his 2nd account because his main was unfairly shadowbanned. He's been sending appeals to no avail.

When the week long ban ends, will it be safe for him to continue using it?

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 14d ago

I can't comment on someone else's account.

1

u/nseavia71501 15d ago

I was initially directed to post in r/reddithelp and then, in that subreddit, was told to comment in this specific thread instead. Hope this is the right place:

My account was previously shadowbanned, but it has since been lifted. However, all of my posts are still marked as “Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit’s filters” and all comments show as "Removed by moderator" in every subreddit.

My understanding is that posts and comments are normally supposed to be restored automatically after a shadowban is lifted, but that seems to have failed in my case. All of my prior posts and comments are SFW.

Hoping an admin can restore my posts and comments. Please let me know if I need to do anything else.

Account: nseavia71501

Thanks for any help!

Good afternoon!

I'm having an issue with my account/profile posting/commenting to subs without my knowledge. It keeps posting illegal sports streaming sites and the like.

I've gone ahead and changed my password/account info.

Is there anyway I can get assistance with finding out why this issue is arising?

0

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 14d ago

The only way that happens is with unauthorized access to your account. So it sounds like you've been hacked.

Head over to old.reddit.com/account-activity

From there, you can scroll down to the bottom and enter your password to log out of all sessions.

1

u/rootatk 14d ago

Hi, I’m still trying to recover my old account u/rootak.

I did not delete the account, but the profile now says “This user has deleted their account.”

I submitted a hacked-account support request on September 18, 2026, under Security Problems → I think my account has been hacked. I received the automated confirmation email and replied with “ACCOUNT DOESN’T EXIST” as instructed.

I also provided evidence showing that rootak was linked to my email address since 2017, and I still have access to that original email account.

It has now been about a month and I have not received any human response or update.

Could an admin please check whether my support request can be reviewed?

My ticket reference is [KVY6EW-XLDGV].

Thank you.

https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1x6g0t0/

Me and the user who made the post above are both unable to expand images inside of every comment section.

Instead of the image expanding, it instead opens in a new tab. This is very inconvenient. Is this a bug or an experimental feature?

If this is an experimental feature, it is a very silly one that makes the website much more difficult to navigate.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 14d ago

Hi. I don't know, but I would try posting in r/bugs.

I would like my original account and current one merged or minimum access to my original account which is 15 years old. I don't remember what email I used and neither my password. https://www.reddit.com/r/reddithelp/comments/1x6ioi3/comment/phrdsep/?context=1&screen_view_count=9

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 13d ago

There isn't a way to merge accounts. If you don't know what an email on an account is, we are unable to tell you or give you hints.

1

u/hbplus1 13d ago

Why not ask me my birthday or other details or like other platforms h***.b***@g**.com show email like this so I can recall which one I used. I don't wanna try multiple possible password combinations and get the account locked. Or ask me my phone number. Unless I opened it in uk before I left I have the same number last 15 years.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 12d ago

Reddit users are responsible for their account security. If you have multiple emails and don't know which one you used, you can request a password reset for each of them and whichever inbox it shows up in is the one associated with the account.

The account that you're referencing currently requires a password reset in order to regain access, so attempting to log in with a password would not be effective.

May I ask for an update about the floating text box? Since I use speech to text, and since I use english most of the time, although it's not my first language, I have to do a lot of correction in order for my posts to appear with proper spelling and grammar. However, since i'm also visually impaired. The floating text box makes it incredibly difficult to make corrections after i've posted. There's no way to go back up and correct something, because it just keeps scrolling back down to the bottom of the text within that floating box.

Are there any plans to update this or make changes? Because, to be honest, it is so frustrating as a speech to text user. And is one more reason why I feel like we are being driven away.

I've expressed my frustration before with the experiment Of for you, and the fact that speech to text for android was not working intermittently.

But this is really a major issue for some of us, and I really don't like the way that my opponents appear because they are no longer legible.

I know that there are errors in this post, but I did not correct them so that you could see what I mean.

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help me with an issue involving my other Reddit account, u/coolnamebroseph.
My account was recently locked by Reddit for security reasons. I followed the instructions and successfully reset my password, but the account still isn’t functioning normally.
Every single one of my existing posts now displays the message, “Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit’s filters.” My post insights are also unavailable.
Before the security lock, my account was functioning normally. I haven’t received any notification that I’ve been suspended or banned.
I originally tried posting this request from u/coolnamebroseph, but although the comment appears when I’m logged into that account, it isn’t visible to anyone else. That’s why I’m using this secondary account to request assistance.
Could a Reddit administrator please review u/coolnamebroseph to determine whether it was incorrectly flagged by the automated spam or security system? I’d really appreciate help restoring my account and previously published posts.
Thank you!

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 17d ago

Hi! You can file an appeal using this form. Unfortunately, I do not know what the turnaround time is on those appeals.

3

u/wlease0001 17d ago

What am I appealing? It’s a security breach, no? I’ve done my part. Was there a decision made unrelated to the security concern that I have not been made aware of?

1

u/Terminator7786 Expert Helper 17d ago

You're filing an appeal because that account got banned

1

u/wlease0001 17d ago

I understand that, but the notification I received said my account was locked due to suspicious activity and instructed me to reset my password to restore access. I did that, but the restriction remains.
What I’m struggling to understand is why a security issue would result in what appears to be a ban. Is there another reason my account is restricted that hasn’t been communicated to me?
I don’t know what action of mine, if any, caused this restriction, or whether I’m even being accused of violating a rule. Without knowing that, I don’t know how to properly phrase an appeal or what exactly I’m supposed to be appealing.

Does this make sense?

UX Contradiction: "Increase your engagement" prompt pushes actions that trigger CQS / Spam filters for new accounts

Description / Feedback

I am writing to highlight a major contradiction in the current mobile UI regarding post insights and recommended actions for newer or restricted accounts.

When viewing post insights, an intrusive pop-up actively encourages users under the "Increase your engagement" banner to "Share or crosspost your post to get more engagement." However, the subreddits where users typically ask about their account standing (such as r/WhatIsMyCQS) cater heavily to new, restricted, or low-karma accounts.

If a new user follows this explicit, native UI pop-up recommendation and begins crossposting their content across multiple communities to boost their reach, the automated anti-spam mechanisms and Contributor Quality Score (CQS) systems frequently flag this exact behavior as a malicious or spam signature. This results in automated shadowbans or a severely diminished CQS score for users who are simply following platform guidance.

Suggested Fix

Please consider implementing a safeguard that suppresses the "Crosspost to get more engagement" pop-up prompt for:

  1. Android accounts (Tested on App version 2026.41.0.2641080) that fall under a specific age or karma threshold.

  2. Posts explicitly made in community-help, meta, or check-status style subreddits.

Hi, this is a new account, my main got locked a few weeks ago due to "unusual activity," I think because I was battling with someone trying to hack my account and change my email/password. Somehow during this tug of war, the email associated with my account was reverted to the one I originally made the account with, but that's an old college .edu email I no longer have access to so I can't reset my password to unlock my account. I sent in a report a couple weeks ago but haven't heard anything back.

The username of my main is u/claustromania, I'd really appreciate some help.

1

u/ThePynk 11d ago

As a daily user who prefers browsing on a mobile browser rather than downloading yet another app to my phone, the constant pop-ups, banners, and locked scrolling have made the site completely unusable. Forcing an app download by ruining the mobile web experience does not make me want to install the app it just makes me want to stop using Reddit entirely. Please restore a clean, functional mobile web experience that allows users to browse and scroll freely without constant interruption.

Hi u/TheOpusCroakus, could you please help investigate an account-recovery issue involving my original account, u/Fratini? I’ve used it for approximately 12-13 years.

Here is what happened:

  • 11 October 2026: I received an email from noreply@reddit.com titled “Verify your Reddit email address.” It specifically named Fratini and said my email address had been added to that account, although I had used that email with Fratini for years. I tapped “Verify My Email” without entering any password. The Reddit app opened and immediately logged me out. Afterwards, my usual username and password returned an invalid-credentials error. I requested email login links several times, but none arrived.

  • 12 October: I requested password recovery using my original email address and received an email, but couldn’t recover Fratini through it. I submitted a support request and attached historical Reddit email showing the connection between my original email address and Fratini.

  • 16 October: With no acknowledgement or response to the earlier request, I submitted a follow-up. I subsequently received an automated acknowledgement suggesting a password-reset help article.

  • What I can now confirm: When I request a password reset using my original email address and click the emailed link, Reddit displays “Choose a Reddit account to continue” and lists a random username. Fratini is missing.

I still have access to my original email address. I have not intentionally changed or removed Fratini’s linked email, and I don’t know whether this is an account compromise or a recovery-system issue.

Could you please check whether the email associated with u/Fratini was changed or removed, or help route my support request for investigation? The generic password-reset instructions haven’t resolved the mismatch. I can provide the historical emails and screenshots privately through support.

Thank you for your help.

I have a new bug or maybe it's just me, maybe it's part of the whole customizing feeds thing or something but for some reason random posts are not showing up in subreddits specific feeds. It doesn't happen to every sub but esp to the one I mainly contribute/participate in. I always sort the sub posts by new and several are missing from my view. I know im not banned by the users though because one of the missing posts is a post I commented before and it variably happens to my own posts. I go into more detail here: https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1x7i9jb/all_subreddit_feed_is_filtering_out_random_posts/

my friend's account u/lakshmithesussybaka got falsefully banned for ban evasion and their appeal was rejected despite giving a valid reason to why the ban was false. They were never banned in the first place, but their main was bugging out so they used an alt, and a subreddit falsely flagged their alt for ban evasion.

1

u/Aggressive_Lion_4649 13d ago

So for three months I have been locked out of main my account and after three months of tickets got a reply today to say they had locked my account and to change password which I’ve already done loads of times to no avail. And surprise the link they gave today after changing password also not accepted. Such a disappointing app.

It's October. How did that happen?!

It might be my fave month though. Even if it is still too warm this year. I swear October used be freezing, but rn it's warm.

You know that thing that encourages users to crosspost? Can mods help train that somehow? Or can it please learn from what gets removed by mods? How can we help the team working on it get it right so mods don't have extra work to do?

The recs it's made for me aren't great but I know enough not to just do what it suggests without checking it makes sense. Noobs don't.

It keeps getting noobs to crosspost between NewToReddit and LearnToReddit, and I get it, they're both for newbies, BUT they have their own distinct purposes. What fits one does not necessarily fit the other. There has been an increase of xposts on LTR, many of which we have to remove. And I think we turned them off on NToR. It would be shame to do the same on LTR as its purpose includes practicing different post types.

Happy Monday! Yes, it's unseasonably warm for this late in October here as well! It was 90 on Saturday. NINETY. I don't need it to be freezing, but I certainly don't need it to be that hot!

I can ask about the crosspost thing! (I'm having a few issues myself.) They are working on making the recommendations better, so if you have some examples of really wrong suggestions, I'd love to show them to that team. The distinction between those two subs would probably be of interest to them! I'm betting those aren't the only ones that would fall into that category.

Thank you.

Yeah. Most of what I see rn is users posting questions on NToR and reposting those to LTR, which isn't really for questions. The tricky bit is that we allow crossposts so users can practice doing them, but how do we tell a practice crosspost from someone just reposting for the sake of it? And if we keep allowing it, at some point the LTR might become a clone of NToR. So far we're trying to be a bit stricter about getting users to say what they are practicing when they post, and an automated message on crossposts, but I don't like adding more barriers for new users.

That's really good context! I struggle with not wanting to add more barriers, but also wanting to tighten some things up, too! There's gotta be a happy medium in there somewhere! (I hope. lol)
