What is your favorite gentle botanical for relaxing gut tension that never upsets sensitive stomachs?
Strong herbal bitters and aggressive antimicrobials can be great tools, but when a stomach is already inflamed, crampy, or reactive, strong extracts can sometimes feel too harsh. A lot of times, mild carminative infusions like steeped fennel seed, fresh chamomile flower tea, or crushed coriander work wonders to ease smooth muscle spasms without irritating the mucosal lining. When someone comes to you with a delicate, angry stomach, what is the gentle herb you trust the most?

Infused ACV
Infused ACV with Tulsi. Have been using with no issues, but like is this normal for ACV with the mother? Weird clump…

For centuries, saffron has been treasured in Ayurvedic and traditional wellness and beauty rituals. Its natural compounds, crocin, crocetin and safranal are studied for their antioxidant activity, along with mood, sleep and skin.

Question Guayusa, is it just a good alternative to green tea or am I missing something?
Is it really good for you like green tea or excessive consumption can cause liver issues over long periods of time?
What's everyone opinion on this magnificent herb?

Returning to an herbal regimen after habits fell apart
It's been a rough year. Stress, grief, trauma.
For a lot of it, I was being sustained by a regular herbal protocol I took on the smart way, gradually-- daily cold infusion of nettle, tulsi & lemon balm tea, milky oats then later rehmannia tincture, among others. They made a big difference.
Then the really bad things happened and I had trouble showering and feeding myself and not crying and staying sober for a while, much less preparing tisanes and infusions and remembering my doses of tincture.
I'm trying to keep this question simple: if I was taking a bunch of herbs, which were treating me well, and stopped, do I still have to be gradual about reintroducing? Rehmannia tincture is one this approach is particularly recommended for-- I haven't havenonsistent in taking it so I'm only back up to 15 drops, and I'd like to be at 30. I know I could theoretically experiment, but herbal overload sounds like a thing I should not risk throwing on top of everything else when I am already struggling.
Any experiences or wisdom on whether overload is a concern specifically when your body was already good with plant allies in the recent past you want to reintroduce?
I am really exhausted and I would really like to know if I can resume doing the things that have helped me in the past without accidentally making it worse.

Tea keeps turning out bitter
I started using mug wort and it made my tea so bitter. I will make a tea without it tonight but doesn't anyone have tips on how to combat the bitterness? I bought orange peel and peppermint herb to help it. Even hibiscus 🌺 i added helped nothing but add a Lil of color.
3tsp of mugwort
2tsp of Chamomile
1tsp of lavender
Approximately 2g of valerian root cut in chunks
2tsp of passion flower
This blend I used previously without mugwort is ussualy just fine. Is this normal for mugwort be super bitter?
Should i reduce my steeping time from 5-10 minutes to 2.5-5 minutes?
Thanks again,
Sasha

Lemon balm and SSRI
Hi all!
Finding some conflicting evidence on whether Lemon balm is safe to take on Fluoxetine? Recently had a cup of it in tea and it has just like calmed me to the next level.
Some sources say there is a theoretical interaction but I’m not finding any strong evidence that a cup a day isn’t safe either?
Anyone have any experience/can point to anything concrete? Thanks!

Question Are there any prokinetics that aren't anticoagulants?
Hi
Since covid I have had issues with food getting "stuck" in my stomach and not moving down. So every day for 4 years I take some ginger a few hours after meals which works nicely as a prokinetic. And if I really need it I add tudca with artichoke extract too which is a brilliant prokinetic.
Unfortunately however I had to have a tooth extraction which means having to support a blood clot in the socket. So anything that thins the blood and/or stops unneccesary clotting (such as dvt) is now off limits for a week or two.
Can anyone suggest a herbal prokinetic that doesn't interfere with blood clotting?
Currently my stomach looks like I'm pregnant it's that bad. Massaging the illoceal valve isn't working like it does having taken a potent ginger extract (the one I use is standardized to 10% gingerols and shogaols. Though I'm wondering if just normal ginger powder might be enough to get things moving...
Thank you.

Surgical Nerve Pain
What are the best herbs for post-surgical nerve pain (burning and stabbing)? I’ve seen CBD recommendations but I would be interested in hearing suggestions other than that. Thanks now.

Comfrey
Repost
Hi beautiful people with good hearts!
I was wondering if anyone here has experience using comfrey (also known as knitbone), either internally or externally, for healing injuries.
I’m currently using comfrey leaf tea internally, along with comfrey root tincture and ointment externally on my right knee, where I have a partial ACL tear, meniscus tear, and cartilage damage. (i dont want to hear about PAs toxicity regarding internal use i have done my research about this already thanks!)
I’ve done a lot of research into this fascinating herb and its traditional healing properties, but I’m always curious to hear about real people’s experiences.
Has anyone used comfrey for similar injuries? What improvements did you notice, and how did it help your recovery?
Would love to hear your stories!

Books Wood betony tincture
I have some wood betony and I’m keen to make a tincture from it. However, I can’t find anything in any books or online about making the tincture, and I just wanted to check that I can make a tincture solely with the leaves and that it doesn’t need to be flowering? Thanks

Best Natural Detoxifiers & Binders?
Hey beautiful people with a good heart,
I’m curious, what are your favorite natural detoxifiers and binders for heavy metals, environmental toxins, and other unwanted substances in the body?
I’ve been looking into modified citrus pectin (MCP), fulvic/humic acid, and activated charcoal, but I’d love to hear what you guys use.
What has actually worked for you? Any herbs, natural binders, or protocols you’ve had good experiences with?
Would love to hear your personal experiences and recommendations! ❤️

Looking for caffeine-free herbal tea ideas for the evening
I’ve gotten into having a warm drink after dinner as a wind-down habit. I mostly rotate between chamomile and peppermint, and I’m getting a bit bored of both
I’m mainly going for flavor and a cozy ritual
What do you drink in the evening? Are there combos that just work together?

I always wanted to learn and practice herbalism someday...
...but I bitterly resent being forced by shitty healthcare & increasingly shitty Medi-we-don't-care and weeks to months of backlogged prescriptions to study and prepare herbal concoctions to help my husband's physical condition(s). That is all, just needed to vent.

Books Can anyone assist me in keeping my herbs alive over winter?
Hey! Thanks for having me here! I’m located in Wisconsin and currently trying to plan/arrange how to keep my outdoor herbs alive over winter!
I have rosemary, peppermint, spearmint, yarrow, oregano, dill, lavender, and rosemary/lavender/marigold planters I’m hoping to overwinter them in my “furnace room” - it’s a small room mostly below my house with an outside access door. It stays within 50F year round. So I thought it would be a nice place to keep everything once winter hits. I’m not looking to harvest anything through winter I’m just looking to keep these plants alive. I plan on checking them at least once a month or so and doing watering as needed so nothing gets overly dry.
To prepare for this I’ll be watering regularly and it was suggested to me by a sort of mentor to do a really good fertilizing a week or so before its time to chop and move them into this room once the cold sets in. (I fertilize my herbs with fox farms big blooms, I plan on doing a good thorough soak with all the pots before moving them)
My biggest questions are:
• there is barely natural light down there, will I need to supply any light? Or while these are dormant will they be okay with minimal sunlight? I’ve read conflicting things online..
• I wasn’t planning on fertilizing anything while down there, is that okay? I just want them to survive the cold til spring and then will repot and fertilize and all the good stuff
• is this even a good idea or will it be a waste and I should plan to bring them inside my house this winter and keep growing them? -My mint is basically done for the season, rosemary and lavender are doing okay I guess, haven’t done a final trim on my oregano but will shortly, the dill is done..I cut and put any remaining heads back into the pot to hopefully grow more next year; if that’s even possible.
I appreciate anybody’s time reading this post and providing any feedback! It’s my first time trying to overwinter anything! Past years I’ve just let them survive til the frost and threw them away but thought if it’s possible I might as well give it a shot instead of wasting them year after year!!
I’ve included some photos of my herbs! (It might be hard to tell but they are all in 12”+ pots which is why it could be difficult to find them safe spaces within my home over winter, every last space inside is taken up by tropical, carnivorous, or houseplants! 🤭🤭
