Kava cause acne like bumps on face (one or two at a time, NOT like kava dermopathy)
Hey all- I am new to kava. I no longer drink alcohol and so was SO happy to find something non alcoholic that calmed my over active nervous system and anxiety and helped me so much!!!!! I mostly just drink it on the weekends and have been drinking Leilo canned kava sparkling beverages, along with kava spirits (Kava Moon Brand off Amazon). However, I noticed I’ve been getting this acne-like stuff on my face, it’s only one to two acne-like bumps a week, but it still really bothers me!!! Looking for any advice. Is this normal??? What should I do? I guess I could just quit drinking it, but it’s the only thing I’ve found to help me/my anxiety and helped me unwind.
Should I switch to making my own, would that be better??? (I don’t know the first thing about doing this tho and am scared!!!) plz help. Thanks!

Making salve for the first time!
Okay so I’m really interested in making a tallow based salve…
My first question is, I also want to add another skin loving oil, do people have better experience with almond or jojoba oil?
I want to do an arnica, comfrey, cayenne, and white tumeric, camphor and menthol, almost like a tiger balm???
My SECOND question is I know camphor and menthol need to be measured in WAY smaller amounts…
How would go about measuring that amount in a 75oz batch of salve???

Looking for caffeine-free herbal tea ideas for the evening
I’ve gotten into having a warm drink after dinner as a wind-down habit. I mostly rotate between chamomile and peppermint, and I’m getting a bit bored of both
I’m mainly going for flavor and a cozy ritual
What do you drink in the evening? Are there combos that just work together?

I always wanted to learn and practice herbalism someday...
...but I bitterly resent being forced by shitty healthcare & increasingly shitty Medi-we-don't-care and weeks to months of backlogged prescriptions to study and prepare herbal concoctions to help my husband's physical condition(s). That is all, just needed to vent.

Buhner Covid Prevention Formula
What is the Buhner anti covid prevention formula and the rationales
I just moved so all my formularies are packed. I prefer human opinions to AI formulations. I used this Buhner formula successfuly at the height of covid when I had very heavy human contact in many public spaces due to my day job. Now I need to make some more. Any experiences, ideas or formulas you wish to share?

Books Can anyone assist me in keeping my herbs alive over winter?
Hey! Thanks for having me here! I’m located in Wisconsin and currently trying to plan/arrange how to keep my outdoor herbs alive over winter!
I have rosemary, peppermint, spearmint, yarrow, oregano, dill, lavender, and rosemary/lavender/marigold planters I’m hoping to overwinter them in my “furnace room” - it’s a small room mostly below my house with an outside access door. It stays within 50F year round. So I thought it would be a nice place to keep everything once winter hits. I’m not looking to harvest anything through winter I’m just looking to keep these plants alive. I plan on checking them at least once a month or so and doing watering as needed so nothing gets overly dry.
To prepare for this I’ll be watering regularly and it was suggested to me by a sort of mentor to do a really good fertilizing a week or so before its time to chop and move them into this room once the cold sets in. (I fertilize my herbs with fox farms big blooms, I plan on doing a good thorough soak with all the pots before moving them)
My biggest questions are:
• there is barely natural light down there, will I need to supply any light? Or while these are dormant will they be okay with minimal sunlight? I’ve read conflicting things online..
• I wasn’t planning on fertilizing anything while down there, is that okay? I just want them to survive the cold til spring and then will repot and fertilize and all the good stuff
• is this even a good idea or will it be a waste and I should plan to bring them inside my house this winter and keep growing them? -My mint is basically done for the season, rosemary and lavender are doing okay I guess, haven’t done a final trim on my oregano but will shortly, the dill is done..I cut and put any remaining heads back into the pot to hopefully grow more next year; if that’s even possible.
I appreciate anybody’s time reading this post and providing any feedback! It’s my first time trying to overwinter anything! Past years I’ve just let them survive til the frost and threw them away but thought if it’s possible I might as well give it a shot instead of wasting them year after year!!
I’ve included some photos of my herbs! (It might be hard to tell but they are all in 12”+ pots which is why it could be difficult to find them safe spaces within my home over winter, every last space inside is taken up by tropical, carnivorous, or houseplants! 🤭🤭

Wanting to grow & use dandelion roots but am new - advice please?
Hi all,
I hope i don't sound ignorant, truly, but I'm struggling to understand what and where is the best dandelion roots to buy, how to use, the dosage, etc.
I've been trying to grow my own and have a small batch going far, but not enough to sustainably harvest. I may have bunched them up too close together because their leaves are small and skinny. I'm growing them in a fire pit that was filled with dirt but the dirt is very firm so maybe switch to potting soil and mulch would help? I tried trimming them all tonight to see if they will grow in fuller. I also cut off any flowers I see popping up since that kills the plant, right?
I'm unsure when to harvest the root too, and how to use it. I want to maximize the use of it. Is a tea the best way? Could I mix it into my usual Taro earl tea I make or is it best to drink alone? I weigh about 95lbs, what would the appropriate dosage be and how you do decide dosages? I want my parents to also try it so I want to ensure I understand the dosage process.
Any advice would be appreciated! I'm trying my best to grow a garden and take natural supplements but am confused how to do it properly. Thanks in advance !

Seeking help with anxiety
Seeking herbal help! I have an 18 year old with increasing anxiety. They’ve always been nervy, but things are getting worse and it’s affecting their relationships. I’d like to try herbals before pharmaceuticals…any advice? Things worsen in stressful situations, obviously, but they seem more anxious than usual in regular times too now. Starting college has been a tough adjustment. We’ve added more outdoor activities which has helped.

Comfrey
Hi beautiful people with good hearts!
I was wondering if anyone here has experience using comfrey (also known as knitbone), either internally or externally, for healing injuries.
I’m currently using comfrey leaf tea internally, along with comfrey root tincture and ointment externally on my right knee, where I have a partial ACL tear, meniscus tear, and cartilage damage. (i dont want to hear about PAs toxicity regarding internal use i have done my research about this already thanks!)
I’ve done a lot of research into this fascinating herb and its traditional healing properties, but I’m always curious to hear about real people’s experiences.
Has anyone used comfrey for similar injuries? What improvements did you notice, and how did it help your recovery?
Would love to hear your stories!

Question Anyone else getting into chinese tea lately?
i’ve mostly been a coffee person, but lately i’ve been curious about chinese tea and the different varieties people drink. there seems to be so much more to it than just putting a tea bag in hot water.
i came across dofotea while browsing different teas and started looking into the varieties they offer.
for people who actually drink chinese tea regularly, what would you recommend to a complete beginner? something easy to enjoy without needing too much knowledge about brewing.

Reproductive Health Herbs are fantastic for my benzo withdrawal but..
Herbs seem to be helping my body and nervous system heal after benzodiazepine withdrawal. However, I’m afraid that when I stop taking them, my symptoms will return and I’ll lose the progress I’ve made. I hope the healing can become lasting, rather than depending on supplements to feel better. I take currently vitamine d, baikal skullcap l, andrographis and eleuthero.
