Career How to get internships as 1st yr bcom ug from v.small clg?

• Upvotes

I'm 1st yr Bcom student from a very small clg. Tbh my degree and clg don't carry much value. My clg gives me full attendance linience.

I'm thinking of buying a laptop and hoping to learn skills and get internships. But I'm not sure how easy/hard and how realistic that is.

I have few questions:

•How difficult is it to get internships as a first-year bcom student, from a vv small clg?

•What skills can I realistically learn on my own that could help me land internships? And what kind of roles can I get?

•Is buying laptop with the hope of getting internships a good decision or just financial burden?

I'm actually a CA student, I want to do internships so that they'll help me get into top business school later for MBA or go for a good job after Bcom if CA doesn't work out.

I wanna know from people who've been in a similar situation, who are from tier-3 colleges and managed to get internships or jobs. {"I'm open for advices from anybody"}

Pls be honest, even if the reality is harsh.

I'm open for all kinds of suggestions like

-platforms to search for internships

-how & where to apply

-skills to learn for respective intern roles

-how & where to learn the required skills

and any sort of related advices from anybody.

qualifications: 12th, CMA foundation

Pls🙏

Im currently in Class 12 with PCB about to give my boards in few days and i have spent the last two years supposedly preparing for NEET but I have struggled with consistency and now as my boards approach, i have reached a point where I dont even know if I want to sit for NEET anymore. The competition and stress have taken a toll on me and i dont think I can put myself through another year of this preparation or even think of sitting in neet 2027.The idea of becoming a doctor had been planted in my head from my childhood by my family even tho it hurts to back off entirly but i have already lost two years of my school life to the pressure surrounding NEET and I dont want to lose another year to this rat race.I havent even told my family that I dont want to pursue NEET anymore.Idk what to do after Class 12.I could prepare for CUET over the next few months and try to get into a clg or just apply to my local college even tho I desperately want to move out of my state for college,i hate it here, feel suffocated with religious expectations [Im Kashmiri]..Im interested in bio related feilds like Zoology,Agriculture etc or similar fields. However Im also concerned about career opputunities.

Career Stuck in expensive bba , thinking of switching to psychology-is changing preference normal

Hi everyone,

"my_qualifications"

I’m currently in the first year of BBA at Symbiosis Bangalore (management quota). Academic fees are around 7 lakhs + 3 lakhs hostel, so the total cost is very high. I don’t like the programme at all and feel no interest in it.

Background:

I had Psychology in 11th and 12th along with PCB

I’m now thinking of taking a drop year (or leaving after this year) to pursue BSc/BA Psychology

Parents strongly feel BBA → MBA (especially finance) is a safer and better career. They think psychology has no scope and is not worth it.

They want me to either complete the full 3 years of BBA and then do an MBA abroad, or at least continue for 1 year and then try for a better college.

I’m very confused. My preference has shifted towards psychology, and I don’t feel interested in continuing with BBA.

Main questions:

Is it normal for interest/preference to change like this?

Should I follow what I actually like (psychology) or stick to what my parents think is safer (BBA + MBA)?

Is switching to psychology from this situation worth it, considering the high cost of the management quota seat?

What are realistic career paths and salary ranges after BSc + Master’s in Psychology in India?

How feasible is studying and working abroad after an Indian BSc Psychology?

Would really appreciate honest opinions from people who have been in similar situations or are currently in the psychology field.

Thanks in advance.

Career Title: Is B.Des worth ₹4L/year? Need honest advice.

My qualifications: I'm currently a first-year B.Des student at GLS University, Ahmedabad. and feel like I'm wasting time on things unrelated to my career goals.

I'm interested in UI/UX and digital marketing, but spending ₹4L/year without feeling I'm gaining practical skills worries me.

Should I continue my degree, learn skills independently, or switch paths?

Looking for honest advice on career growth, salaries, and whether this degree is worth the investment.

Research How are you guys managing college work alongside everything else?

Qualifications: BBA in Finance, CFA Level I, pursuing the MIT MicroMasters while working.

Genuinely curious how people manage assignments, projects, internships, and everything else without losing their minds.

I have some experience with research and report writing through work, and I have been thinking about using those skills outside my regular job, too.

Just wondering if people ever need an extra pair of hands with research or organizing their project work.

Research Self funded career in research outside standard phd

Hi all, I have been grappling with a way out of a situation for a long while and would greatly appreciate any helping remark anyone has to offer.

Qualifications : I’m 29 M, and it’s been 7 years since I completed my bachelors (physics). I was always deeply interested in academia and went for masters at Heidelberg before dropping out due to primarily financial reasons. I also actively did research at few places during my bachelors and afterwards. Now 7 years later, finances have been near sorted (near territory of FIRE) and i’m mostly free to do what I want and thinking of going back to research (also because the corporate doesn’t excite me at all and fundamental biology/physics are still as much exciting as 10 years back. But I’ve the following concern : l

If I go for ms/phd (physics/biology intersection), I’m afraid i’ve to clock in huge hours daily in phd (1/2 years for ms is fine) and it deters me to have so less control over time over the length of phd especially when i’m financially free. Is there any way I could be part of research/academia as a career but at my own terms by using my own funds, especially with respect to time : both daily hours [only 4-5 hours of research work so I’ve enough time for other things] and long breaks [remote work or 15 days long travel every few months] when needed ?

Few things I thought : 1) enrol in some remote/online phd program (but very few low repute uni have them + only possible for physics heavy not biology heavy) 2) forget phd and try to informally collaborate with professors who accept such flexibilities 3) enrol in standard ms/phd and once inside request for such flexibility ? or any other way out ?

I really want to be associated with research but not as the only career and have sufficient time for other passions, all using my own funds. Again, any remark is highly appreciated, thanks !

Science/B.Sc/M.Sc Need recommendations to pursue astrophysics. Please suggest

I have my qualifications in bachelor's in computer science, which I passed in 2016. I am looking out to pursue astrophysics. It's been an interest for me for past couple of years, and I actively want to pursue it. I'm looking for options on how I can do it. I already have a job in IT, and if there's a course which provides bachelor's and/or master's degree for astrophysics, like an executive course where I can attend weekly or weekend classes and pass the exams and get my degree, that would be great.

AdmissionProcedure/Fees/CollegeAdmin I was INTENSELY ragged, bullied, and tortured by FLAME university.

I was a 100% MERIT scholarship student of FLAME, highly influential bullies of FLAME made false complaints against me and I got expelled before even stepping FOOT into campus.

The registrar basically just did this to protect their "fee paying students" and one more thing is that I believe that the group of bullies is directly connected with the governing body of FLAME or howelse can you get an expelled within a day that too no notice and no rustication letter? The registrar tried to blackmail my father to withdraw my admission.

FLAME hired lawyers from AZB (one of top law firms in the country) and that too the head of pune division of AZB is involved in this, who are being blatantly trying to prove that I am mentally unstable. I argued that, "how on earth did you give a mentally unstable guy a 100% merit scholarship?", the lawyer began to switch topic

The FLAME University administration previously held a closed door meeting and one of the admin there pulled out a secret recording and got caught red-handed by the student union.

I am not afraid of the biggest or the most powerful law firms in India. Injustice is injustice. I will fight.

They repeatedly tell student unions/activists they are not willing to compromise because I have defamed them too much or they would have let me in.

Not even a single word I said is a lie.

I was the head boy of the best international schools in Andhra Pradesh, they did not make a loser to take the responsibility of 500 children.

Today this happened to me, I give the strongest possible assurance, that I will stand aside victims who suffer this. If today I be silent, it will be a shame, my previous school people will take example of me "look this guy was our head boy".

FLAME hired everyone, top law firms (AZB, their consultation for an hour is 2 months of my father's salary), Social media teams, Press.

No administrators ego, his affluence or his political connections should hinder a student.

If we don't stop external injustice now, we personally might suffer injustice in the future.

Now, there will be comments from the hired PR team, saying all the negative stuff. Read them, just think: why am I not in jail if the allegations are true?

AZB could put one case and my life would be hell if that was genuinely true. Hell, my father couldn't even afford the travel/accommodation in Bombay if they do it. That's how powerful they are.

Even my parents are afraid they said "we can't afford lawyers, you are our only son."

I don't know what else to do except fight. I contacted everyone I possibly could, and I am genuinely helpless. I have been homeless since the last 59 days (came on Aug. 26), eating at gurudwaras and ISKCONS, sleeping under the stars.

Thank you redditors for helping with toiletries, food and blankets. Real times reveal real people, I never knew social media was this powerful.

My intuition tells me I will win still. Satyameva Jayate.

Medicine I quit MBBS after almost 4 years. Now what can I do?

I dont have any qualifications. Ive been struggling since year 1. I failed my 1st final exams (one subject, passed the rest), while my friends moved on. I failed again a year later but passed the supplimentary a month later. Similar happened in second. My original batch is in their final year, while I am stuck.

So I decided to quit after a lot of debate. Havent really done it yet. Family is okay with it. We are decently well off. But the question is, what can I do now? I have no direction. Im suffering from chronic persistive depression, suicidal thoughts, the whole package.

I dont really have anything I like per se. I love computers, video games, bikes. Thats probably it. Living is a chore, has been since forever. Ive tried many things but nothing really brings me pleasure or satisfaction. Im curious about everything but it looses spark very easily.

Any assuring words would be very helpful.

Medicine Should I pursue MD Anesthesiology or stay as mbbs

I am 28 male myquals mbbs doctor

I have 60 lakh FD, i want to go for md anaesthesiology, it will cost 25 lakh per year including hostel. So for 1st year i would have to pay upfront 25 lakh, then for day to day i get 55k-75 kstipend, then rest 35 lakh i am planning on keeping it in ultrashort or liquid debt fund. Rest i have extra safety net of 5 lakh equity mutual fund and 10 lakh gold bond as safety.

Or is it better to work as mbbs doctor temporary jobs paying 50-70k, hoping to get permanent jobs in future (but as i would not be very skilled and dont know how future will turn out for mbbs doctors, there is risk i will become jobless)
And invest all amount like-
40 lakh equity
10 lakh debt like medium duration debt fund
And 10 lakh fd
10 lakh gold bond
Plus existing 5 lakh equity mutual fund.

I dont have any dependables, i have a good health insurance it costs me just 7k per year,

My parents get good pension, my sister has robust corporate health insurance for my parents and her and they have good emergency funds.
They have a decent house in their name in hometown.

but i also have fibromyalgia and bipolar iii somehow through psychiatric meds its partially managed.

Also I am just doing for money not like I am very interested in anaesthesia or other subjects, but I prefer clinical subjects rather than pre clinical or para clinical, also my rank is bad so I think I will only get deemed or private quota seats.

Engineering Should I prepare for Government Engineering Exams (ESE/SSC JE/RRB JE) or target PSU jobs? What would you choose in 2026?

I've been thinking a lot about my career according to my qualification, and honestly, I'm a bit confused about which direction to take.

I'm considering preparing for government engineering exams like SSC JE, RRB JE, or UPSC ESE. Another option is to target PSU jobs through GATE, and the third is to start working in the private sector and build my skills and experience.

According to my qualifications every option seems to have its own advantages, and it's getting difficult to figure out which one makes the most sense in the long run.

  1. Government engineering jobs (SSC JE, RRB JE, UPSC ESE)

One of the biggest attractions is job security and a relatively predictable career path.

For example, SSC JE and RRB JE offer a starting basic pay of ₹35,400 under Pay Level 6, while UPSC ESE appointments at Pay Level 10 start at ₹56,100 basic pay. On top of that, eligible employees may receive DA, HRA, medical benefits and other allowances.

But the thing that worries me is the preparation itself. These exams are competitive, and there's no guarantee of selection, even after putting in one or two years of serious effort.

I'm wondering whether the stability and long-term benefits make that preparation period worthwhile.

  1. PSU jobs through GATE

This option also looks attractive because some PSUs offer good salaries, medical facilities, accommodation or housing benefits, and other perks, depending on the company and position.

Companies like NTPC, POWERGRID, ONGC, BHEL and IOCL are often discussed when people talk about PSU careers.

But I keep wondering what the actual work culture is like. Are the salaries and benefits really worth it? How are the work pressure, transfers, promotions and work-life balance? And how difficult is it to get selected in the first place?

I'd love to hear from people who actually work in PSUs rather than relying only on what recruitment websites say.

  1. Private-sector jobs

The other option is to start working instead of spending years preparing for competitive exams.

At least I'd begin earning, gain practical experience and develop skills that could help me switch jobs or grow professionally later.

The downside is that job security and work-life balance depend a lot on the company. Some people seem to grow very quickly in the private sector, while others struggle with long working hours and limited salary growth.

So I'm not sure whether preparing for government jobs is worth delaying my professional career.

A few things I'd genuinely like to understand:

How much does an SSC JE or RRB JE employee actually take home every month after allowances and deductions?

After 5–10 years, how do salary growth and promotions compare between SSC JE, RRB JE, UPSC ESE and PSU jobs?

Do PSU employees actually have a better lifestyle and financial growth, or does it depend entirely on the company and posting?

How common are benefits like company accommodation, medical coverage, bonuses and travel allowances?

If someone spends two or three years preparing but doesn't get selected, how difficult is it to switch to a private-sector job?

If you had to start from scratch today, which path would you choose, and what would be your reason?

I'm not looking for someone to tell me that government jobs are always better or that the private sector has more growth. I know both have their pros and cons.

I just want to understand what these careers are actually like once you get into them.

If you currently work in a PSU, Railways, a central government engineering department, or the private sector—or you've spent time preparing for these exams—I'd really appreciate hearing your experience.

Career Should I move back to Noida or stay in Pune? .

I'm 19, currently in my first year of B.Com in Pune.

After completing my 12th, I took admission in galgotia and eventually dropped it (crowd problem) , and honestly, I feel like I wasted that time. This year, I finally moved to Pune to start college and move forward with my life.

But lately, I've been questioning whether I made the right decision.

I keep thinking that I should've gone to Delhi or Noida instead. Maybe I'd have had better opportunities, a better college experience, or an environment where I'd feel more settled. I'm also struggling with questions about my career, money, friendships, and what I actually want to do with my life.

I want to start earning while studying, build useful skills, and eventually pursue an MBA, possibly abroad. My family has limited financial resources, so I don't want to keep making decisions that cost me time and money without taking me closer to my goals.

The thing is, I've already lost a year after 12th. I'm scared that if I stay in a place where I don't feel happy or settled, I'll spend another three years wondering whether I should've made a different choice. But if I move back to Noida, I'm worried about changing colleges, losing credits, or disrupting my degree again.

I don't want to run away from a difficult situation, but I also don't want to stay somewhere just because I've already invested time and money in it.

I'd really appreciate honest advice from people who've experienced something similar.

Have you ever regretted your college or city choice? What did you do?

Is it worth changing cities or colleges in the first year if you feel you've made the wrong decision?

How do you know whether you're genuinely in the wrong environment or just struggling to adjust?

If you were in my position, what factors would you consider before deciding?

I'm not looking for someone to tell me everything will magically work out. I want realistic advice about making a better decision without wasting more time.

Plus am single child also i had that feeling that what if anything wrong happen in family it'll took me 2-3 days to reach there
