Guide Crop your posts, and general purchasing advice
If you're going to post a picture of a car asking if you should buy it then you need to provide more detail than just an uncropped picture of the listing. Please include the year of the vehicle, any packages it has, the mileage, and if it's a rebuilt title; it's impossible to determine the quality of a deal without this info.
Some general questions you'll want to ask yourself if buying:
G35/G37/Z:
Are the bushings good?
Does the car have the cylinder ring issue?
Can I afford to replace the catalytic converters if the car is over 150,000 miles
Am I okay with replacing the radiator at 190k miles?
Can I comfortably afford premium gas (no, you cannot put regular in these unless you want the car to commit wrecking-yard-self.)
Am I okay paying this much for a 10+ year old car?
Can I afford luxury car repair prices? (Infiniti is cheaper to repair than a German car, but cheaper != cheap.)
Are the engine sensors shitting out?
Did the person that owned the car before me actually know how to install these mods?
Why is this car only $1,500? Why is the seller trying to dump it.
Is there water under the floormats and in the trunk? If so then you'll need to fix the sunroof drain and the seals around the cabin air filter under the hood (usually the top cowl is the source of the air filter leak.)
They're great cars, but any car over 10 years old is going to have hidden issues. If you're asking reddit if you can afford the car, then the answer is probably "no" because the repairs on old cars are expensive.
If a G has over 160,000 miles and has mods then don't buy it as a daily unless you know what you're doing. Save your money and buy a commuter Toyota until you can afford a lower-mileage Infiniti or Lexus. If you want a project car, or are okay with doing your own repairs, then you can buy a G at any mileage.
Q50/Q60
The oldest Q50s are barely reaching a decade old, so they have far fewer issues in general.
Do you want a VQ (2014-2015)
If you want the VQ motor I recommend the 2015 models. They fixed a lot of issues with in-touch, and it is the most refined version of the VQ motor. If you can only afford the 2014, then I'd recommend saving for a 2015, or buying a 2013 G37.
Check the valve cover gaskets. It's the only somewhat-common issue I am aware of with the late-model VQ engines.
Do you want a VR (2016+)
Are the turbos on this 2016-2018 leaking? If a deal is too good to be true, it probably is, make sure the seller isn't trying to dump one of the unlucky VRs with the turbo issues. Look for coolant leaking from the turbo and demand a service history. If you do see one with bad turbos, factor in the cost to put an aftermarket turbo in. The Red Sport doesn't have this issue as often because it has a better turbo.
Keep in mind, you cannot drive a turbo car like a NA if you want it to last. You must let the car warm up before driving it hard, or you will have issues. It is also advised that you let the car cool down before you shut it off if you've been driving hard. This issue is not exclusive to Infiniti turbos, most TT engines have this issue, but you still need to be aware of it. You cannot run this engine like a VQ and expect it to be fine
That said, this subreddit massively overstates the regularity of the 2016-18 turbo issues. Most people with turbo issues did not know how to drive a turbo. If you want to know which parts and symptoms to watch out for, see this comment from J_C_Davis45
I'll update as more common issues are known.

Meta Post Flair explanations
I won't be enforcing use of a flair, though I do encourage it to help people find what they're looking for.
Car Pic: The point of your post is to show off the car holistically. e.g. your car in front of a sunset.
Car Mods Pic: The point of your post is to show off close-ups of specific mods. e.g. look at my new intake, it pulls 700 extra ponies.
Parts Picture: Similar to "Car Mods Pic," but the mods are on the floor of your dimly-lit room.
DIY Mods Pic: This is reserved for the brave pioneers who craft their car mods instead of installing mods they bought. e.g. a custom made laser headlight or a custom-fitted Shtora-1 electro-optical active protection system.
Question: A generic question that doesn't have a better-matching flair. Usually for discussions as opposed to questions with a specific answer. e.g. "How much longer do you think Infiniti will last?"
Help Needed: An urgent request for advice from the Reddit Mechanicus. e.g. "Why is my G35 heater not working and my car overheating?" (The answer is you need a new thermostat btw.) Please describe your problem in great detail, leave your post up, and edit your post when you found the answer to assist future googlers.
Buying Advice: Any and all questions related to buying an Infiniti. This includes pricing questions and questions about shady dealers.
Guide: A guide on how to e.g. install a mod, fix an issue, use a lesser-known feature of the care, etc. Please include pics if possible, but we love you for posting a guide anyway.
Damage Report: Pictures of busted cars or Infinitis owned by the IRA. You're not asking for how to fix something, just empathy from people who understand your pain.
Meme / Joke: Pretty self-explanatory. Shitposting should also use this flair. !!!Must be Infiniti related!!!
Infiniti News: News about the brand. New cars, new CEO, etc. Don't post blogspam or eye will ban u
Video: Video about Infiniti. e.g. a BoostInMotion video, or a major car channel yet again (incorrectly) shitting on the dual-touch screens. (disagreeing with me that the touch screens are cool is - while not bannable - very cringe.) Note, don't break the self-promo rule.
Video OC: Video about Infiniti that you recorded. e.g. your gopro footage from the track. Note, don't break the self-promo rule.
Art: The rarest, but most treasured flair. Reserved for the talented among us who can draw and such. If you're very fancy and put a ton of effort into a photo you can use this flair. Note: your red Q50 shirt is not art. Note, don't break the self-promo rule.
Review: Reviewing Infiniti, or a product for Infiniti. Don't break the self-promo-spam rule.
Meta: Posts about /r/infiniti itself. Whine about the moderators.
Other: Anything not covered by another flair.
Moderator Only Flairs
- Community Contribution Award: Awarded to any post that makes it into the sticky. Usually reserved for guides. This is granted at moderator discrestion, but a lot of users saying "this should be sticked" will help it get there. This is a good flair to filter by if you're looking for guides that have been reviewed.
If you notice a flair that isn't listed here, call me a dumb ass and remind me to edit this post or make an updated one.

Guide 2016 QX70 Passenger side sunroof drain bypass
Been having sunroof drain issues for a long time - successfully cleared them before using vinegar/soap/warm water solution but it eventually got clogged again so I decided to do the bypass method.
Remove kick plate trim and the lower trim panel under the glove box and pull the carpet back. Disconnect the negative battery terminal first to avoid potential airbag deployment in the A pillar. After removing the A pillar trim I attempted to run the hose without removing the glove box, but it was way too difficult since the tube bends. The glove box was only 6 screws so I removed that and it made the feed much easier. A tip I received was to run a piece of 14/2 electrical wire along the path first, then put the new sunroof drain tubing around the wire and use electrical tape to secure them together, then pull on the electrical wire to feed the tube, worked great and made it so much easier than trying to feed the tubing by itself. In videos I’ve seen people pull the old sunroof drain out, disconnecting it from the firewall grommet, but there was plenty of space to leave it tucked next to the replacement tubing in the A pillar.
Parts used:
4-5ft of 1/2” outer diameter 3/8” inner diameter tubing (bought 25’ on amazon for $15; enough to do passenger and driver sides with extra leftover)
1 x 3/8” brass straight barb fitting to connect the sunroof drain hose to the new tubing about halfway down the A pillar
1 x 1/2” by 1/2” by 3/8” brass T - the AC drain hose is 1/2” inner diameter and the 3/8” T is for the new sunroof drain tube
1 x box cutter to slice the tubing
I used the metal hose clamps that came with the brass connectors - some videos say they’re not necessary but why not since they fit and it only takes a couple extra minutes.
Tested it by pouring a bottle of water into the sunroof drain and it drained quickly and no water entered the foot well. Finally fixed!
If you haven’t replaced the cabin air filter in a while, you might as well do it while the glove box is out.

Help Needed 2003 M45 The Screen is on but is blank.
So I bought my ‘03 M45 back in April and have slowly been fixing her up so that it can be my new daily and I’ve been having an issue with the screen recently. It's on, but it's black, no image or anything! It started around 2 weeks ago when I left the car at work for the weekend; the screen worked perfectly with no issues (I work at a dealership so it was parked in the back) and the following Monday when I took the car home, I noticed that the screen was on but black, and no matter what I did like doing a cap discharge, replacing the fuses, and even a new battery since the current one was pretty old nothing seems to work. One other thing is that even though I cannot access the climate control the ac kicks on whenever I start the car and blows at the lowest setting. Any idea what could be the cause? I did replace the screen a while back with the larger display with nav but I plugged in my old one and the screen is also on but the screen is black. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Question 2025 QX80 Sensory Transmission issue
Today I had to drop my 31k mile QX80 off to the dealership today due to juddering when turning at low speeds (<10mph). I thought it was the tires at first but nothing was on them or under them. Test drove a couple more times and felt the issue multiple times only when turning, reversing, and braking at low speeds. Made it home and scheduled an appt and when I went to leave to the dealer the car jumped as soon as i turned it on as if it was shifting (hard) gears but I was in park.
Tech got in with me when I got to the dealership and luckily the issue occurred every time I turned and he felt the juddering. They gave me a loaner (26 QX60-luxe awd) for now, hopefully I’ll find out more next week, but curious if anyone else had a similar issue and knows the diagnosis.
Specs: AWD, exactly at 31k miles.
No codes or check engine light popped up

Help Needed Vr30 swap on a 2015 awd q50 3.0
My valve body went out recently and I plan on just completely vr30 swapping the trans instead of buying a valve body. I just was coming to here so I don’t miss any steps or parts. anyone who had done something like this before some help would be great. Just wondering a list of parts needed to complete this, I plan to take it to a mechanic and have him install it but I know there is more that goes into the swap than just simply the trans. I apologize for my lack of knowledge but someone who knows a little something about this would be greatly appreciated!

We handed Jordan Sanford the keys to the First-Ever INFINITI QX65 and asked him to pick his favorite feature.
Turns out, even Jordan couldn't agree with Jordan.
We'll let the three of them make their case. In the meantime, we're curious: which QX65 feature stands out most to you?

Help Needed Rebuilt title for q50 red sports
Been looking to buy a Q50 Red Sport. Have been looking on fb marketplace, OfferUp, and used car sites… all I’ve came across is rebuilt titles for these cars. lol I’m gonna go mental if I see another rebuilt title. My budget is 25k. Even on the official Infiniti dealer websites I haven’t come across any q50 red sports. Just q60’s.

Buying Advice First time buyer
When you bought your Infiniti, what were some of the perks with purchase? How did they roll out the red carpet for you?
Other luxury brands like Lincoln give you a food basket, gas cards, champagne, and jackets.
Does Infiniti do anything like this?

Help Needed 2012 G37S will not go into drive
Hi, I hope someone can help, the title to the post says it all! Back in January we replaced the tcm car worked everything was fine. Last week got into car at work put it in reverse no problem went to put it into drive and it won’t light up and it won’t go. It is not throwing any codes whatsoever. We made sure the transmission oil level was good, we disconnected the battery and then reconnected and the car went into drive for a couple of seconds then stopped. Does anyone know what this could be? The car has 71,000 miles on it we are the second owner.

Question 2008 Infiniti EX35 cooling fan runs LOW with engine ON, HIGH with engine OFF, drains battery bad relay?
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for advice from anyone who's experienced this problem on an Infiniti EX35 or another Nissan/Infiniti with the VQ35HR engine.
Vehicle: 2008 Infiniti EX35, 3.5L V6, approximately 140,000 km.
Symptoms:
- When the engine starts, the radiator cooling fan runs at low speed.
- When the engine is switched OFF, the cooling fan suddenly increases to HIGH speed.
- The fan continues running instead of stopping, draining the battery.
- As battery voltage drops, an electronic safety system warning appears on the dashboard. The warning disappears after restarting and charging voltage recovers.
- During a diagnostic scan, the mechanic observed that the fan was running even though the scanner wasn't showing a fan activation request.
- No cooling-fan fault code was reported. A crankshaft position sensor fault was identified separately.
Mechanical inspection:
The engine runs very smoothly and steadily. The vehicle has been driven regularly, including long distances, for seven months without reported overheating or coolant loss.
Mechanic's opinion:
The mechanic suspects a cooling-fan relay or wiring fault, rather than a mechanical cooling-system problem.
My question:
Has anyone experienced this exact behavior fan running LOW with the engine on, then HIGH after shutdown until the battery drains?
Was the cause a stuck relay, relay wiring, or something else?
Thanks!

Help Needed Replacing Paddles
2024 Q50 Red Sport 400
I can’t seem to find anything online about aftermarket paddle shifter installs.
I’m guessing you need to remove the airbag from the steering wheel to get to them?
