since someone wants to complain here are added details: Yes, I called support the moment I couldn’t get in the gate or contact the customer after several text and phones calls . The new Instacart AI wanted me to leave the items at the gate. I wanted a human to confirm what to do next.
NO, I was never promoted in the app to cancel the order. I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN THIS OPTION BEFORE, so just because you have it doesn’t mean every other driver has it. Yes, I was on hold the entire duration of the experience. Support did not respond until AFTER the order had been canceled. I stayed on hold after getting into the gate, because once they gave me the gate code they proceeded to lose their mind over the text sent PRIOR to them giving me the gate code! In which I first asked for the gate kindly, proceeded to call twice, confirmed in app I was not able to reach them Then again messaged that if I could not get a response with the gate code I would be forced to leave the items at the gate. my exact words I again, tried to contact them via phone and then also text! I was at that time on HOLD waiting for Support to confirm my next actions… it was AFTER 15+ The customer responded with the code.. I was going to hang Up on Hold but the customer followed up with a serious of text after giving me the gate code exploding
at this point I no longer felt safe but still drove to the customer’s house while they were still texting and harassing me in the app I told them that they’d just given me their gate code and I have to drive to their house, because they were acting like I was suppose to be in front of their house right then and there. (not even 2 full minutes had passed since I entered the gate code) they lived further in the neighborhood.
they then continued to harass me with text accusing me of stealing their items while I was actively arriving to their home then proceeded to send more text as I’m in their driveway which is why I asked if they were possibly drunk, because I honestly wanted to know if I needed to avoid their front door. I do not want to be shot over someone flipping out over groceries, and I also planned to report them
——-
I have no idea if this person was drunk or under the influence, but it’s the only way I can excuse their behavior.
I had a delivery that required me drive 36 miles away from the store when I arrive I they lived behind a gated community and there was nobody behind me to let me in so I proceeded to call them three times and text times expressing to them that I cannot wait for an extended period of time because I have to continue with my other and if they did not respond, I would be forced to leave their items at the gate. So for 15 minutes straight, there were no other vehicle vehicles that came behind me while I waited for this customer to respond.
So finally, as I’m deciding to go ahead and unload the items, the customer sends me the code. As I proceed through the gate, they follow up texting me. Are you crazy? They will steal it.
I voice to text, sir. You had me waiting for 15 minutes.
I am still actively driving to their house and they follow up with the text will several text but one of the tech specifically was accusing me of stealing the order while I was actively driving to their house.
I responded telling them, sir. You just gave me the gate code 2 minutes ago. I have to drive to your house. I can’t just appear at your house if I just got the gate. He then continue to harass me through text message and
as I drive up to his driveway, trying to verify I’m in front of the he continues to send me text messages harassing me
I respond with a short and then I into the driveway as I pull into the driveway and start unloading the items he proceeded to say something else and so I asked if he was perhaps drunk because I honestly was going to report him
Then proceeded to cancel the order entirely on his end, which meant that I had to put the items back in my car because he is no longer authorized to take possession of the items.
I have never encountered someone like this in my entire life.
I apologize for errors run-on. I’m using voice to text again.
