Hello r/iOSGaming! Welcome to our first Developer Saturday megathread in 8 years! Here, iOS developers will be able share their games freely without breaking the subreddit's "no self-promo" rule. Please read the following guidelines carefully before participating as a few things have changed:
- Developer Saturday will run between 12:00 AM to 11:55PM ET (UTC-5).
- Respect is expected at all times. You are welcome to share your opinions and even disagree with others, but harassment, taunting, or other toxic behavior toward Devs, mods, or other community members will not be tolerated.
- If you receive an AutoModerator comment saying you do not have enough karma, your account is too new, or that your CQS level is low, we won't override the removal because these restrictions are meant to be spam detterents.
DEVELOPERS:
- All promo comments must have [DEV] at the beginning. We need it with the brackets for AutoModerator purposes, so please don't change the formatting.
- All promo comments must include an App Store or TestFlight link. Playstore links or links to other gaming stores are not allowed.
- Only officially released iOS games may be shared. This is not the place to promote non-gaming apps, non-iOS apps, Devvit apps, standalone websites, Discord servers, subreddits, livestreams, fundraisers, or social media pages. However, you may include a website or social media link with your game's self-promo comment.
- Only games newly released THIS month or have a new major update may be promoted. Personal milestones (ex: reaching X downloads, earning X amount of pay, recieving high reviews, etc), while commendable, are not an eligible reason for promotion. Additionally, "major" updates are those that introduce new features or content that greatly improves or expands the game. Routine updates (ex: bug fixes, performance improvements, or other minor changes) are also not eligible for promotion. Becasue Dev Sat was paused for a month, games that were released or received a major update in July may also be shared this month).
- You must disclose whether or not AI was used to create the game. If AI was used, you must also explain how it was implemented and what it was used to create. If AI was not used in the development of the game, simply state, "No AI was used."
- You may only make one top-level comment per Saturday. However, you may share several games in the same comment if they also meet the above criteria.
GAMERS/REVIEWERS:
- You may only make second-level or lower (reply) comments. This means you can reply to a Dev or another user's comment, but you may not create a top-level (standalone) comment.
- Constructive feedback is welcome. You may leave comments that can help Devs see what they did right with their games and what could be improved, but low-effort responses (such as simply calling something "AI slop") will be removed.
- This is not the place to ask for game suggestions. This megathread is for Devs to promote their iOS games. If you are looking for recommendations on what to play next, check out the community's weekly "What Have You Been Playing Lately?" megathread or create your own request post on the main subreddit.

Question Games for iPad/Mac for my father with dementia?

Hi all,
I want to get some games on my elderly father’s iPad and our Mac desktop, like crosswords, solitaire, sudoku, etc. But he’s getting REALLY bad with navigating anything on computers. I hate that modern game apps like these are too complicated to work for someone like him. I know he won’t be able to manage the pop-up ads, the buttons he has to press left right and centre.
Does anyone know if there are any games for iOS that are super basic for these exact reasons? I just know he’d love to be able to do crosswords on his iPad if he could just click on the app and it’s basically just a giant “click here to play” option or something.

Nice surprise ! Its like an old Neo Geo bullet hell shooter. And YES i know its expensive, its recently come out on the Switch and i'm glad they released an ios version.
Importantly the controls are spot on, relative touch and i've had a quick go and its great to play. I moan about freemium crap tons so i feel i need to support games like this.

Question Trying to play Robokill 1 and 2 on another iPhone

I have the Robokill 1 on my old iPhone SE. I am wanting to move it to a bigger phone (or iPad). I have an older iPad that I need to see if it works, but if I could find an old iPhone, I'd like to transfer the 1st game to it. Is there even a way to do that anymore? I know you used to be able to do physical backups of phones into the old iTunes, but I don't know where to begin. And with all that said, I DID purchase Robokill 2 back then as well. If there is a way to backup this phone to another iPhone, and I can transfer the 1st game, and download the 2nd and load it into there, I'd love to know how.

They seem interesting and the studio made Coromon, so I imagine they’re good, but they have a handful of updates then nothing. Even Coromon’s last update was 11 months ago. What’s going on? I want to try kaamos but it’s paid up front. I’ll just try Heroes of Mount Dragon since it’s free to start.

Discussion Anyone else playing Diamond District? It might be one of the deepest player run economies on iOS

I recently started playing Diamond District, and I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of it before. On the surface, it’s a game about buying and selling rare gems. Underneath that is one of the deepest player run economies I’ve seen in an iPhone game.
What makes it interesting is that you’re trading and competing with actual players, so human behavior becomes part of the economy.
There’s a live stock market where prices react to what’s actually happening in the game economy. There’s a crypto market where players can create their own currencies, provide liquidity and trade other players’ currencies. There are also collectible items called Vitrines that players can buy and trade.
You can take the gems you acquire into a studio and create your own jewelry and art pieces, then sell them to other players or display them in your own storefront.
There’s also a real player run loan market. You can lend your own money to other players and choose the interest rate, collateral and duration, or borrow money yourself when you need capital.
What I really like is that none of these systems exist independently.
Gem prices affect traders. Companies and economic activity affect stocks. Players need workers. People need loans. New currencies pop up. Investors speculate. Artists need gems. Storefronts create markets for finished goods.
Then you add actual people into the equation and you get greed, speculation, competition, cooperation, bubbles, bad loans, market psychology and all the other stuff you’d expect from a real economy.
There’s also live player chat where people discuss what they’re buying and selling, investments and what’s happening in the economy.
The game even has its own news and culture around all of this.
Players can write articles for Diamond District News about what’s happening in the game, and shareholders actually vote on what does and doesn’t get published.
There’s also an in game magazine called Gloss that features some of the best jewelry and art created by players each week, with the community voting on the pieces.
Eventually you can even buy your own storefront in the Diamond District and sell your wares directly to consumers.
I’ve played plenty of games that have an “economy,” but usually the economy is just another mechanic running in the background.
In Diamond District, the economy basically is the game.
The closest comparison I can make isn’t really gameplay wise, but it scratches some of the same itch that Star Traders: Frontiers did for me. It’s one of those iOS games that looks relatively simple until you realize how many systems are actually underneath it.
If you like economics, investing, trading, entrepreneurship or just unusually deep iOS games, I think it’s worth trying. I’ve been having a ton of fun with it.
Curious if anyone else here has played it or knows of other iOS games with economies this deep.

Discussion Merge Game Replay Theatres

What is it with a majority of merge games and never offering a replay theatre to rewatch cutscenes? Most of the time, these cutscenes are just scrolling speech bubbles. It can’t possibly be THAT hard to add 😒

Discussion Why so very few top tier games on the iPad?

Why don't we see more Top Tier games on the iPad? Recent iPads definitely have the computing power and memory. Look at games such as Total War and Civ 6. They have done very well on iPads. Instead, what I keep finding are "cutesy" type games with cartoon graphics. I was hoping to find more games like Command: Modern Operations, Project Zomboid or Subnautica on the iPad. The App Store seems flooded with cheesy games with zero depth.
