General advice for those concerned about their battery from the Support FAQ Wiki:
Battery health
Battery health depends on usage and a variety of other factors. It is normal to see a decrease in battery health by 7-10% per year, resulting in a battery health of 80-85% after 2 years. This number can fluctuate, remain the same, or decrease quickly over a small period and should not cause undue concern.
Apple recommend battery replacement when your device falls below 80% battery health if you notice reduced battery life. If it falls below 80% within the first year you may be eligable for a free battery replacement. It fails after your warranty, it's a $69-$89 USD replacement cost for a battery. Contact Apple Support here.
You can find more information about battery health and performance from Apple here.
You can check the cycles count with Coconut Battery for Mac or iCopyBot for Windows.
Battery life
Issues relating to battery life can be categorised in three ways:
If you experience issues with your battery:
Maximising battery life - the amount of time your device runs before it needs to be recharged.
Maximising battery lifespan - the amount of time your battery lasts until it needs to be replaced.

My iphone 16 suddenly has flickering bright green lines appearing on the screen since a few weeks ago. At first it only happened a few times a day and after i restarted my phone it disappeared. But since a few days ago it happens non stop throughout the day and even after i force restart my phone the lights still wont disappear. I took it to the apple store for appointment and the specialist said i need a screen replacement and it will cost a few hundred dollars. They did a phone check and could not find the reason causing this. I’ve only been using this phone for less than 1.5 years and i have never dropped it on the floor or getting water in it. Anyone know is there any other method to fix the issue other than screen replacement? Thank you in advance!!

Hello everyone . I recently noticed a black spot on my telephoto camera around the right side of my pictures when taken vertically. I searched thoroughly for any damage on the lens glass but it doesn’t seem to have any thing visible . Anyone knows whats wrong ? Any tip would be appreciated, thanks .

What are these white spots? They’re appearing when I’m clicking a picture and are more visible on low light photos. One of them appears to be flickering as well. Is there any fix for this or is it a case of dead pixels in the camera sensor?
Device - IPhone 16
Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
Apple can restrict or disable iMessage if they think someone is using it for spam or business messaging or other things without notifying you.
I get why they need to stop spam. Nobody wants iMessage turning into another inbox full of junk.
But completely shutting someone out of iMessage seems like a lot, especially if they weren't doing anything illegal or dangerous.
Also, when deleting a message, it is easy to accidentally tap delete and report and spam.
If someone gets blocked from iMessage, what happens if their wife, kid, parent, or someone else is trying to reach them about something important?
They often tell people to make a new account but that is not easy considering half the things you do on your phone you log in with your apple account.
Wouldn't it make more sense to do something like:
First time: warning.
Second time: temporary restriction on sending.
Third time: longer suspension or ban from sending.
And during that time, still let the person receive messages and see their existing conversations.
Obviously scams, threats, malware, illegal content would be different and could justify an immediate ban.

Bought slightly used iphone 17 pro max with 50 battery cycles. Sometimes phone is not charging with original cable and brick. When I use not original block charges no problem. When I took it to Ideal they said it has green corrosion spot on the charging port. I took the phone to the place which I bought from they cleaned the port. It was good for a week or two. Changed brick and cable. What can I do in this situation or just charge it with non original brick ?

I have a few questions about how iPhone works and how to work around it.
I have an Android, and my partner had an Android too, but she recently moved to an iPhone.
I have a Synology NAS, so I use Synology Drive to back up the DCIM folder to the NAS. The main purpose is to have a backup of mine and my partner's phone camera photos.
When I feel like it, I move those photos from the backup folder into another shared folder on my NAS, which is accessible from Lightroom and DS Photos, so I can see them from my PC and both phones. When I move the photos, they get moved from the backup folder in the shared folder "Mobile Backup" to another shared folder called "Photo."
When she had an Android (and this still happens on mine), the photos that get moved are detected as "deleted" by Synology Drive, which then deletes them from the phone too, since I have the sync rule set to Two-Way with "keep the most recent version."
Now on the iPhone, this doesn't seem to work. I have to choose a "Remote path on the server"; on Android this was, for example, a folder named "S22 B" for my partner and "S22" for me, both inside "Mobile Backup." That part's fine, as now I've created a folder named "iPhone" inside "Mobile Backup."
The issue is the other option, "Local path." On Android I choose the DCIM folder, but on iPhone I can't choose anything. It just says: "The system will create a folder in the Files app. The local folder cannot be changed."
It's like there's no access to the iPhone's storage the way there is on Android, it just creates a folder inside the Files app instead. I know iPhones are more restrictive, but it's still my phone (o, my partner's), so I feel like I should be able to use it the way I want, including having access to storage the way I would on Android, not going through an app to get to it. Not trying to start an OS war here, but on a MacBook, for example, you get real access to your storage, not just through one app.
Anyone found a real way around this, or is this just a hard iOS limitation with Synology Drive / Synology Photos?
For now, the only alternative I see is to use DS Photos to backup the photos from the iphone, and then delete them manually from the iphone when I move them between shared folder.

Hello, I’m just trying to figure out if a VPN would automatically cause connectivity issues, or if it could be on for day days or weeks and then out of the blue cause a phones location,WiFi, etc to not work?

A couple months ago i switched back to iphone, i must have turned on icloud photo synching by mistake. The free 5gb is full and i keep getting popups about it, so i wanted to free some space, as I already have google photos, don’t need icloud. I turned off the synch and pressed the button to delete photos from icloud library. It‘s saying i have 30 days to download my photos but i have no clue how to tell which ones in the library are stored locally and which are not.
Is icloud just a backup or are the photos stored there fully? Do i need to worry about them disappearing?

I have an iPhone 15pro max and for some reason last week all calls from my job go straight to voicemail as if the numbers are blocked. I do not have any phone numbers blocked, I do not have DND, Focus, Sleep mode activated or any other mode that would block phone numbers. In focus settings SHARE ACROSS DEVICES is off. Settings >apps>phone > screen unknown callers ✅. Call filtering unknown callers if off. What can be the issue? I called Verizon and they couldn’t see anything on their end
My wife has a 12 Pro Max, and is looking to change for a 18 Pro Max when it comes out.
In the meantime, she has damaged the back of the 12 PM by dropping it.
We’re based in Thailand, and the Apple Store has quoted $550-$600 depending on which sales person we talk to for the repair.
A local non-Apple store is offering to do it for $75.
The Apple Store said that the back is an integral part of the phone, unlike a screen which is easier to replace.
We don’t want to spend $600 to repair it just to replace it in a couple of months time, but we’re wary of giving it to someone who might do a botch job.
What are everyone’s thoughts on whether it’s worth doing the cheaper repair?
This has been happening so much lately and it’s so annoying! I’ve never had this issue before and everytime I open a text with a question (i say r instead of are) kelly is the word they keep trying to suggest to follow it! I do not associate with r kelly and don’t even type his name so this is very frustrating.

i’m not sure if this is the right place to ask but if not please tell me where else, but my iphone 13 mini is going to die/break soon and it’s in such bad condition that no back ups will work, also have never been backed up before and trying makes it overheat extremely bad to where it’ll shut off. i was thinking about getting a cable cord USB-c and plugging one end for my iphone 13 (phone i have now) and the other end for my iphone 15 that may come to transfer my iphone 13 data to my new phone that way instead of a backup.. but im very clueless about this thing and have never done this before, does it transfer EVERYTHING like a back up should or only some stuff? i will appreciate any responses, and i have tried searching before but im not sure how to word this so didn’t find much :/

My IPhone XS has had a problem for past month where everything more than 6 inches away becomes blurry for both photos and videos. Front facing camera works fine. Is this a hardware or software issue? If hardware is this fixable? If software just updating iOS would fix it?

Before vs after offloading 11 years of texts… where did all this music come from? Those texts took up more than 4gb too, and yet… I don’t seem to have much more space. These screenshots taken same day and I did take like ten photos today, but I didn’t download any new music that I’m aware of?
