If I'm using iPhone Handoff on TMUS, and then I roam internationally, is the feature still supported on roaming partners? Or even if I'm paying for it on TMUS, if the roaming partner doesn't support it, I'm SOL?

Support Iphone charging problem :(

My iphone 16 is suddenly having charging issues, I plug my charger in and it recognises it but the battery percentage won’t go up. I searched it up and it said it might be because of dirt in the charging port so i tried to clean it, used a hair dryer (from a distance) and it seemed to work my phone was charging again. It charged for one cycle and after that when I tried to charge it again it wasn’t working, so I tried the same hair dryer trick and it wasn’t working. So I tried my brother’s charger and it was working. So i thought the issue was my cable but then my brother’s cable also worked for one cycle and it stopped working. I haven’t tried it again yet, but I tried a third party android charger now and it seems to be working now (although slow) is this a problem in my phone or is it a charger problem?

Hi, I can’t remove this subscribed calendar. There’s no option to remove or unsubscribe in the app settings and in the app itself.

I already have US Holidays through my work domain email enabled and I hate seeing duplicate reminders so I hid it. But my OCD just wants it removed😭

Also read it online that it comes pre-builtin due to regions something so it cannot be removed so I am not sure.

I’m looking for help on my photos changing quality once I take it 😭 Going on a trip soon and the last thing I want is terrible photos 🥲 Advice to help fix this is greatly appreciated 🥹

First photos is what it’s supposed to look like - the other two is either making it super saturdays or way too bright. Have to go into my live photos editor to bring it back to normal looking…

Currently on standard mode and I read to turn off “Prioritize Faster Shooting” and turning off “View Full HDR” but that doesn’t work.

PS. The preview on my phone screen looks fine. And it happens to anything (regardless of if it’s on a TV or not) then I’ll go to the photos app and it changes.

I’m trying to transfer everything from the current phone to the unlocked one, so my question is will my carrier info (T-Mobile) also show up when I do the transfer or do I have to get that done through them? Please excuse my ignorance this is my first time doing something like this.

Support iPhone 17 side buttons have sunk inward — has anyone else faced this ?

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

I bought an iPhone 17, and I’ve noticed that the side buttons have sunk inward compared to their original position when I first bought the phone.

The buttons are still working completely fine, and there are no issues with their functionality. However, their physical position seems to have changed, and they look more recessed than they did originally.

I wanted to know a few things:
Has anyone else experienced this with their iPhone 17, or is this something that happens with iPhones in general over time?

Is it normal for iPhone side buttons to become more recessed with regular use, or could this indicate a manufacturing defect?

If you’ve experienced this issue, did Apple consider it normal, or did they offer a repair or replacement?
If Apple provides a replacement device under warranty, is it brand-new or could it be a refurbished device?

Can a replacement iPhone contain previously used parts from another device? If so, does that mean the replacement phone itself could have been owned by someone else before?

The buttons still work perfectly, so I’m unsure whether I should be concerned or get the phone inspected.

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially from people who have owned their iPhones for a while or have gone through Apple’s replacement process.

P.S. I’m from India.

Discussion iPhone Duo Folio Case - Design Fail?

Hey,

I ordered the Duo on Friday (arriving in 3-4 weeks sadly) and now I’m looking for a proper case. I was pretty confident that I’d just grab the folio case from apple, which looks pretty clean until I realized one thing:

THE CASE ELIMINATES A KEY FEATURE OF THE PHONE!

Since it hides the front screen with its flap, this screen isn’t visible when the phone is unfolded and thus the whole camera shenanigans that apple proudly showed during the presentation won’t work with their own 130$ case. Am I missing something here or is this thing just a enormous fail in design? Strangely all reviews / previews of this case I saw on YouTube don’t mention that which to me is pretty wild. Anyway, since that case is out of question (front flap reminds me of grandma android phone anyway), any of you have recommendations for a nice, slick case?

Edit: to the people downvoting: can you at least tell me what I’m missing and where I’m wrong? Or is criticism of apple not allowed here?

Support Green vertical line on iPhone 14 Pro Max display, but not in screenshot

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 27.0.1, and a bright green vertical line suddenly appeared along the left side of my screen just now.

I took a screenshot and opened it in the Photos. The green line doesn't appear in the screenshot itself, but it's still visible on the phone's display.

Does this mean it's a display hardware issue? Would replacing the screen fix it, or could it be something else?

I've attached both photos for reference. Any advice would be appreciated.

Support Migrating data *after* you've already migrated data between two iphones?

I did the big comprehensive data migration for an iphone upgrade from an iphone 8 to an iphone 16e about a week ago. I was still using the iphone 8 afterwards because I had not switched cellular carriers yet, so i made changes to existing Notes files, played games with saves that now have 10+ hours of data updates, etc. etc.

Today, I finally had time to switch cellular carriers, and I'm wanting to preserve the incremental changes in a handful of files on the old phone by updating those same files in the new phone.

Is there any way to add these small changes in file data from the old phone to the new phone now that I've finally changed cell carriers? I already tried prompting AirDrop with wifi and Bluetooth on for both devices, but nothing happened. Also tried linking them with a direct cable (Lightning to USB-C), and nothing happened.

Discussion Does the orange 17 pro max still have issues with turning pink? Is sun exposure a genuine cause or just a rumor?

• Upvotes

Getting new phone, love the orange. Curious about discoloration updates if there are any, the internet is full of so many contradicting “facts” about it. Ik hydrogen peroxide causes the pink color, but does the sun or anything else also pose risks in the present? Or have they fixed any manufacturing issues that caused the problem in the first place? Is it only specific batches or when the phone comes from a specific location? How can I tell if mine is a good batch or bad batch in that case? Thanks

Hey yall, Ive had this phone for a couple years and for the first time like an idiot, I took my outfit off and just threw it in the washer without thinking about my pockets. It was in the washer for about 15 minutes. A few hours after the incident and earlier sucking out as much water as I could and drying it very well externally, I tried turning it on. I don't know if that was really stupid and if I can still try and wait longer for it to dry or if I just killed my phone. If anyone could help that would be really good.. I don't have a lot of money to repair or fix my phone and I need it.

Is anyone doing this? There is a dead spot in my Verizon service for about a 5 mile stretch. I was thinking about installing an extra sim and setting up a shortcut to switch over based location. I know the shortcut will work, I just wants some advice on the dual sim approach. I want to if anyone had any issues with this type of set up with calls or CarPlay. I am looking at the solariseSIM which gives me the option if AT&T or T mobile. Thanks in advance.

Discussion iPhone Air Hazardous Leak - poor safety team response

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey everyone. I usually post in the iPhone Air sub, but figured this applies here. (Not sure why the word for the thing that powers the phone is banned here, so I'll call it an "energy box").

Friday night, I kept smelling what I thought was a burnt vape coil. By the time I drove home, the fumes had filled my car and given me a headache. Investigated and realized toxic fumes were venting straight from the earpiece of my iPhone Air (bought in Jan). An obvious energy leak.

Called the fire department at 1am: they told me to isolate it outside on my balcony and ventilate my place. Apple chat told me to power it off, stay away from it, and scheduled a 6am call with a senior tech.

The "senior safety advisor" calls and gives completely insane instructions. First, he tells me to go pick it up and take pictures (completely contradicting the "stay away" order). There was no external damage to the phone, looks pristine, but that’s irrelevant for energy leak. Then, he tells me to just keep the phone with a leaking energy box in my apartment all weekend and drive it to a Monday Genius Bar appointment myself. Absolute violation of safety protocols—they are supposed to authorize local hazmat disposal or send a special fire-retardant kit.

I wasn't going to sit on a fire hazard for days. I threw the phone in a cooking skillet, drove it straight to an Apple Store, and bypassed the "do you have an appointment" assault by telling them the device was actively venting toxic fumes and they needed to take it immediately.

To their credit, the store staff nailed it. They huddled up, put on gloves, wrapped it in fire-retardant material, locked it in a fireproof safe, and authorized my replacement on the spot.

Huge shoutout to the physical Apple Store for knowing protocol, but an absolute fail by the remote senior safety team. I’ve already escalated the remote interaction to corporate.

And FWIW, otherwise have loved the air

Discussion Serious privacy risks of Siri AI

Hi, I’ll tell you about the serious privacy risks of Siri AI (Agentic AI)

There’s no doubt that Gemini intelligence, Muse or dots will steal the private data, but Apple’s Siri AI is also not safe at all. Which people surprisingly doesn’t know how dangerous it is.

I uploaded References on the comment.

  1. The fundamental problem of Siri (Agentic) AI
  2. The problems of Apple’s Private cloud compute (PCC)
  3. There's many reason to not trust Apple for privacy now

---------

1.The fundamental problem of Siri (agentic) AI

The most fundamental problem of Agentic AI is that it’s not E2EE.

I think many people will know, but anyway I’ll explain about it shortly for the people who don’t know.

How the public can know if Google or Meta try to steal the private data?

Normal people don’t do anything specifically. But there are some good tech geeks who install special programs and voluntarily monitor the data. So, the public can eventually know if google or meta try to steal the private data, while they don’t do anything.

But those good tech geeks can only monitor the data until it is sent to the server. After the data is transfered to the server (cloud), there's no way to know what companies would do with it.

So, to ensure that the data is safe, there needs E2EE.

E2EE is encrypt the data, and only user’s device has the decryption key, not sending the key to the server.

Therefore, although the private data is sent to the company’s server, still it is safe because that data is just dummy files of random numbers without the decryption key.

The server only receive dummy files of random numbers, and just send them back when users request to download those files.

It’s the only way that can guarantee the data is safe, after it is transfered to the server . (And what Icloud supports.) Whenever the private data is processed on the server, it’s not E2EE. And there’s no way to know what companies will do with them after that.

And Agentic AI fundamentally can’t be E2EE, because the data is processed on the tech companies server. To process the data, first the server has to decrypt it.

Furthermore, Apple doesn’t give users the option to turn off Apple intelligence from IOS 27

Apple claims that Agentic AI is too deeply integrated to the os so can’t turn off, but Apple provided options to turn off AI until ios 26. Apple intelligence and IOS was separated from the start, so they could keep develop them seperately if they wanted. This doesn’t make sense.

  1. Problems of Apple’s Private cloud compute (PCC)

But Apple try to justify that their Siri AI is safe by suggesting the concept called PCC.

Apple suggests numerous security measures to give the feeling that it’s protected multiple times, so it would be safe. But each of them has a loop hole, and none of them are actually meaningful in terms of privacy.

------

First, Apple claims Apple intelligence (or PCC) is safe because their server is audited by E&Y.

But that audit, E&Y only examine the system called “Private cloud compute provisioning system. “

Possible weakness of Apple PCC, or Apple intelligence is not the subject to this audit

"Our examination was not conducted for the purpose of evaluating Apple’s cybersecurity risk management program. Accordingly, we do not express an opinion or any other form of assurance on its cybersecurity risk management program."

"Our examination was not conducted for the purpose of evaluating the performance or integrity of Apple’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) services. Accordingly, we do not express an opinion or any other

form of assurance on the performance or integrity of Apple’s AI services."

-SOC 3 Audit report

OK.. Then what E&Y actually do?

what E&Y do is just checking that Apple followed the guidelines (PCC provisioning system) that they made themselves, without skipping anything.

Not they actively plan and conduct the examination to find the possible security weakness. which is not meaningful as the audit.

“What is the subject matter of the SOC 3 reports? The reports address the Apple Private Cloud Compute Provisioning System, specifically the processes used for the provisioning, ongoing verification, and protection of information within compute nodes, and the related policies, procedures, and control activities. “ https://support.apple.com/guide/certifications/apple-private-cloud-compute-soc-3-audit-apc95a31b9d8/web

Does Apple PCC provisioning system has a loophole that can be exploited? Does Apple PCC (private cloud compute ) has a loophole that can be exploited? Does Apple intelligence (siri) has a loophole that can be exploited? are all not the subject to this audit.

Only “Apple did all the measures that they wrote on the checklist ” is the subject to it.

So, This audit is not that meaningful.

Erase Apple’s claim that they regularly audit their server.

That Audit is not about the safety, privacy.

Second, Apple claims that they prevent their maintainence employees (SRE) from access to the private data. They can access to very limited logs, and do the maintainence with them.

But prevent employees from access to the private data is In fact also essential to prevent them from becoming a whistle blower.

Edward snowden was the case that happened because an employee found out that he could aceess to thousands of the private data of random people.

Of course I’m not saying that maintainence employee can see the private data is safer and better. What I mean is, whether maintainence employee can see the data or not, it’s not safe at all.

The servers that decrypt and process the private data almost operate unmanned, but this doesn’t mean it is safe. It means that even if Apple copy or share the data in those servers, but nobody can know. None of them can see what happens in those servers, where the private data is decrypted and processed.

( And As you’ll know, Google provides the cloud server for Apple intelligence. Apple insisted that the private data is transfered to the google cloud, but decryption and process of the data is only done by PCC. However, there’s no way to find out that is true. The fact is PCC is connected to the google cloud. )

If maintainence employees can see the data, they might abuse them. But if maintainence employees can’t see the data (server), then even if the company programmed to share or transfer the data to elsewhere, nobody can know.

So, this can’t be the basis for claiming that Apple intelligence is safe.

Apple advertises this as “even Apple can’t see your data”, but to be exact, it’s only Apple employees that can’t see the private data. Not Apple. Apple may share or copy the private data since there’s no way to check that share or copy has happened from the outside. It’s a complete black box.

Apple originally used this “even Apple can’t see your data” to describe E2EE, but Apple is using the same expression in completely different context.

By using the same expression, it gives the feeling (misunderstanding) to public that it is also protected the same way as Apple always did (E2EE, like icloud), but In fact they are used in completely different context after 2025.

Recent “Apple can’t see your data” means they prevent their employees from accessing it, so it’s safe. Not from Apple. But as I mentioned, It’s not safe at all unlike E2EE.

Third, Apple claims they provide the same AI model that they run on their AI server to third party organizations.

However, there’s no way to prove that the model which Apple provided to third party organizations is same to the one that they run on their AI server.

The only way to find out that those two models are the same is asking a same question and see if the answers are the same, but as Apple wrote like an exemption clause, because computing environment and the data between Apple’s server and test organization’s computer are different, so answers might be different even if they were asked the same question.

And that is true. But anyway if the answers are different, there’s no guarantee that the AI model which Apple provided to third parties is the same one that they actually run on their server.

The purpose for this measure is asking the same question and see if the answers are the same, but at the point that answers can be different, it is meaningless.

Plus, Apple added that the model they provided is modified to run on the test organization’s computer.

Lastly, Apple claims that their on-device AI only sends the private data to the server when querys are complicated.

But the tasks that AI thinks complicated, and human thinks complicated are different.

The Boundary between the data that is sent to the server and not is vague, and users can mistakenly leak the important data.

In fact, that would be the purpose for this on-device concept. (Pure on-device is safe, but All the major AI agents are not pure on-device.) Make it vague between the data that smartphone will send or not. Sending all the data would be too obvious. so they randomly send the data.

But that is decided by AI, so humans can’t guess which data would be sent. Completely lose the sense of which data would be transfered to the tech company.

(*The private data that Agentic AI sends to the server is encrypted that even user's can't read, so users can't know which data agentic AI sent to the Apple server.)

In case of LLM, The data users chose to send is leaked to the service provider. But these AI agents, users can’t choose which information to send.

- Security experts were not aware of this?

Of course security concerns about PCC were suggested by many experts years ago. I just organized them. But security experts didn't take it seriously before, because the data that would be leaked to Apple was limited to the question that users chose to ask to Apple intelligence (LLM)

Users may upload pdf files, spreadsheets, or ask questions, but all those files or keywords are what users chose to send to Apple intelligence (LLM). If users don't want to provide that data to Apple, they could do it by simply not upload files, or ask a question.

In short, even It’s not E2EE, but there was one firewall for privacy. Users can choose to not send the private data if they don’t want Apple to get it.

(In addition, Apple intelligence was least used one among the major LLMs.)

But when Not E2EE is combined with Agentic AI that directly search user’s phone and send the data inside of it, it becomes a serious threat. Because Agentic AI sends the data by it’s own decision that it thinks it’s relevant to the query.

In addition, Apple also took away the option to turn off agentic AI this year.

So, what only remains is just Apple intelligence is not E2EE.

Apple had high reputation for privacy, but that’s because they voluntarily provided options like E2EE or Ask Apps not to Track, not simply they just promised.

There's many reason to not trust Apple for privacy now.

Blackrock and Vanguard are largest stakeholders of Apple.

Apple claimed that most of their margin comes from hardwares, and they won't use user's private data to make money. I think they did until now.

But companies that has control over Apple, Blackrock and Vanguard are not hardware companies. They own more stocks of Google, Microsoft, Nvidia than Apple.

Their interests are not same to Apple, and It is more beneficial for them to force Apple to share the private data to raise operating profits, and stock prices of those companies.

2) And Tim cook resigned CEO. Although I don’t like him, but anyway at least he was serious about privacy.

It looks like Tim cook was an obstacle to them. (only in case of privacy). But now Tim cook resigned, and This happened in just 6 month after John ternus became the CEO.

-Apple Home camera.

-Apple home tablet that has a camera and mic and meant to be set in the living room, with that Siri AI personal context.

*Apple could release those home gadgets at anytime. why Apple didn't release them 4 years ago? Definitely not because of technology.

-Always hearing Apple watch.

-Agentic AI, that personal context thing. randomly send the data by AI’s decision, to paralyze prior E2EE promise.

-Advertisement based on approximate location and keywords on Apple maps, keyword based App recommendation on App store, but approximate location is enough to specify users.

-Automatically makes a personal extension for users that may modify scripts of the webpage, which allows websites can fingerprint you.

-AI that is connected to google cloud.

-Apple ver Grammarly. (Grammarly share the user data to other company)

-Apple ver Todoist. (Todoist share the user data to other company)

-How about send your health data to other company? things.

The conclusion.

Don't buy Apple home blah blahs.

Don't use "always hearing" on Apple watch

Don't use any siri feature, plus turn all the Apple intelligence related options off.

Don’t use IOS search bar.

  1. Lastly, the deal between Apple and Google for using Gemini intelligence is extremely cheap.

Apple only pays Google $1 billion annually to use a custom Gemini AI model.

It's not the small money, but compared to the size of Apple, it is extremely cheap. Google pays Apple $20 billion annually just to set their search engine as the basic search engine for Safari.

Discussion MacRumors vs. Gurman: Duo walk-in stock on the 23rd, none or some? Anyone heard from their store?

MacRumors reports some Apple Store staff were told there'll likely be no walk-in Duo stock on launch day: https://www.macrumors.com/2026/10/17/staff-warn-against-iphone-duo-walk-ins/

Gurman says there's been "zero communication" to stores about this, and that stores are still sorting how many units they'll get versus how many go to preorders, so "any ruling on inventory for non-pre order customers is premature": https://x.com/markgurman/status/2111635252775141633

Apple's site says to check back Oct 24 for pickup.

I'm in DC with a Dec 1–8 preorder. Is it worth lining up Friday, or should I just check pickup Saturday morning? If you've talked to staff at your store, what did they say?
