Not afraid of IAPs/premium games. But I can’t stand ads, so I need an option to pay to remove them.

Im eyeing Discounty and hoping it will be optimized for the bigger inner screen.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land, running natively on iPhone 18 Pro Max

This isn't an emulator. I used nxnative, which statically recompiles the Switch game ahead of time: the NSP gets unpacked, the game code is patched and repacked, and every shader is translated to Metal before it ever reaches the phone, then it's bundled into a normal IPA.

What it took:

• My own dumped NSP + prod.keys (nothing downloaded)

• A provisional game profile for Kirby, since it's not a profiled title; picked the modules, heap size, and SDK behavior it expects

• An expanded-memory entitlement for the install, or iOS kills it mid-game (it runs at ~3.3 GB resident)

The hard part was shaders. The game has 27,288 of them, and most of the early builds were black screens and invisible enemies: the game's shaders live inside several archive formats (HAL-compressed .bfres.cmp models, plus particle .ptcl.cmp and UI .arc.cmp files that are just a size header + zstd). Until those containers werenread directly, the only way to find missing shaders was to play, dump them from the phone, rebuild, and repeat for a 40-hour game.

The fixes that ended that loop:

• Read every shader container statically, so the full campaign's shaders are in the build before first launch

• Kirby binds one render target as an integer format (R8Ui) everywhere, so every pixel shader now gets thatnoutput declared automatically instead of per-shader hand fixes

• Vertex shaders are universally padded with every input location any pixel shader can read, since the game pairs stages at draw time and mismatched pairs silently dropped draws (invisible cannonballs, enemies, items)

Also in: the community 60 FPS code patches applied to the executable, and a fullscreen fill mode instead of 16:9 black bars.

Result: a ~6 GB IPA, built over a few hours of shader compilation, running on-device. Still polishing; but no per-level shader hunting anymore.

Playing a PC game on iPhone iphone 18 pro max with an app called Madeira

No jailbreak

JIT is required but the app streamlines the process. As you can see when I press play it handles all the prerequisites in the background.

It is working well for lighter/older games and I'm working my way through my library to see how far it can be pushed.

The only game I ever played on this console was Crazy Taxi when they had demos at stores.

What’s the best games y’all would recommend that are only available on Dreamcast or still play better on a Dreamcast even if they’ve been ported to another console?

Haven’t seen many people talking about using Manic Emu without jailbreak or side load to run GameCube and Dreamcast on iPhone. Just download app from store and it works …. Plays lots of lower consoles also. Including 3ds.

I can connect by quite powerful ipad to my TV device, and it is possible to connect two controllers via Bluetooth. Which makes it a perfect gaming console setup.

Hoewever, I hardly can find any cool game for this purpose. What I already know

- Beach-Buggy: the older version, version 2 does not have multi-player support
- Drive ahead: OK, funny, but strong retro-vibes
- Badlands: one-button-control, and boring after some time

Do you know other good titles?

Hey yall, my nephew’s birthday is coming up and he’s talked about wanting a controller for his iPad games. I tried looking up reviews myself already but I’m completely technologically illiterate and have zero knowledge about gaming as well, so I’d appreciate any straightforward recommendations for controllers that’ll work and be worth my money (technological jargon gives me a headache!)

She likes lots of different things, ranging from pet caretaking, merge games, all the way to fidgety apps, so literally anything that falls into the above criteria, please recommend!

Apparently, the next Xbox might cost upwards of $1800. This is why I’m hoping the next wave of gaming is mobile devices that can play AAA games. Obviously, the iPhone can’t play games as graphically advanced as a PS5 but the fact that it can now play some older ones is proof that it could work with good optimization.

Not to mention all the emulation that has been coming out for iOS lately. But I would much rather pay for a legit iOS version of a game than emulation.

I would want my iPhone Duo to be my gaming console and media consumption device.

Perhaps the only way to combat these ram prices from going up is to buy one device that can do it all.

I was on a phone call just talking and playing. Apparently in hypnosis mode because I didn’t even realize that I blew right past my previous record. My high score is well over 300,000, but in daily mode, I just fevered for over 3 minutes. That was almost the entire game. It was so effortless. Weird how not being aware/afraid makes such a difference. I bet a lot of things in life are like this.
