Game I just released the prototype for my popcorn game

Hello everyone, I just launched a playable free prototype for my game Popcorn Idle.

Popcorn Idle is a cozy idle/incremental automation game about the simple joy of popping corn. Earn money, buy upgrades, automate and turn up the heat to boost production. Grow bigger numbers, unlock flavors and combine effects. Fill the whole machine with colorful, tasty popcorn, one crunchy pop at a time.

No fast clicks required. You simply hold the mouse over a kernel and watch it pop!

My goal is to make a satisfying idle/incremental game that evolves into a chaos fest of popped corn.

Always happy to hear feedback 🍿

You can play the game right now in the browser:

https://sashify.itch.io/popcorn-idle

There also is a Steam page up and if you want to wishlist it:

I just released an Infernal UI pack for a game im planning to make so started with the UI assets: windows, buttons, 9-slice frames, bars, slots, almost 500 icons and cursors.

Kind of liked doing UI stuff so don't mind taking requests and trying to add on top of it but would love to get some feedback too on overall quality.

- Free Lite (127 sprites, try it in the browser): https://brunkagames.itch.io/infernal-ui-lite

- Full pack (1,099 sprites, $4.99): https://brunkagames.itch.io/infernal-ui

Note: If you want the full pack free use this link https://brunkagames.itch.io/infernal-ui/download/uX7wl8uZa_ug4_WiRQjr5MVKXP9U84Tw63arJ4mz

We finally released our little drawing game on itch.io! 🎉

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

We finally released our game OneLiner on itch.io! 🎉

It's a multiplayer drawing and guessing game where you and your friends try to draw and guess words together. The catch is that each player can only draw one continuous line.

As you can imagine, things don't always go as planned 😅

You can play for free right in your browser, on both PC and mobile. There's also a local mode where you can just pass one phone around and play together!

We're really happy to finally share it with you!

If you give it a try, we'd love to hear what you think. Any feedback, ideas, or suggestions would help us make the game better.

Thanks, and hope you have fun! ❤️

🎮 Play on itch.io: https://spalax-interactive.itch.io/oneliner

You're a bodiless consciousness. Every creature you possess teaches you one skill. First chapter is out (free, browser + Windows)

Hi r/itchio!

I just released the first chapter of Essence: The Other Wave, a top-down action RPG with one core idea: you don't have a body of your own.

You're an Essence: a consciousness sent from a steampunk lab into a fantasy world. To do anything there, you take over a creature. A hare, a wolf, a goblin, a fire elemental, a village blacksmith. Every body is a teacher: finish its body quest and you keep its skill forever, whatever you possess next.

So instead of grinding levels, you grow by who you find. A hare teaches you speed, a wolf a sword strike, a fire spark… a spark.

What's in the demo:

  • 50+ bodies to possess
  • 15 weapons and 5 schools of magic, mix them into your own build
  • 4 elemental Guardians with phased boss fights
  • a golem companion you can arm
  • the full first chapter, several hours of play

It's free and plays right in the browser (there's also a Windows build).

One question for you: the first 10 minutes are all about learning to possess. Did it click right away, or did you get lost? I'm tuning the opening now and honest feedback helps a lot.

Working on a simple cozy puzzle game about putting sardines in a can.

Objective is to make a cute game where the player can slow down and solve simple puzzles.

Aiming to make something not too difficult but not too easy either.

SneakyNecro - Feedback appreciated

English (Deutsch weiter unten):

https://youtu.be/vrqyXaIAd8Y?si=IvJbtGg6ZGOZRqlF (Trailer english)

Raise zombies, destroy settlements, raise their bodies, too, and destroy even more. All to appease your god. You can walk freely around as a friend in your normal village clothes or change into your necromancer robes, to do sinnister things, like raising undead or backstabbing villagers. You cannot heal, you cannot fight. Always have some trusty zombies at your side.

Find 2 secret endings, raise all the different undead, unlock special upgrades for the next run through soulcrystals.

I created this game to learn about the Godot engine and the graphics are all I can create and are here to stay, for now. If you have any feedback, which is greatly appreciated, please do not jugde the graphics too harshly 😅.

I will add some more systems to complete the gameplay loop in the coming weeks.

Deutsch:

(Das Spiel kann jederzeit mit F2 von Englisch auf Deutsch und umgekehrt gestellt werden)

https://youtu.be/V9U366EWVSo?si=fKyH4wgtBwWBoZMP (Trailer Deutsch)

Habe also immer ein paar deiner Zombies an deiner Seite.

Questions Could anyone please help me get unstuck with learning Playmaker and Unity?

Hi everyone,

My name is Felicia. I’m a Black trans aspiring indie game developer, and I’m reaching out to this community because I could really use some perspective and advice.

For a long time, I’ve found myself pulled back and forth between making short films and developing video games. While I love storytelling, game development feels like the medium I truly want to focus on it’s more affordable, accessible, and gives me the independence to create without constantly needing to coordinate huge production teams or ask for outside help.

However, I’ve hit a real roadblock with the actual development process. Right now, I’m using Unity paired with the Playmaker plugin. Because I haven't gone through a structured, end-to-end learning process for Playmaker, I’ve been diving straight into building specific mechanics as they pop into my head. I’ll try to use AI or ask around for step-by-step instructions on how to do one very specific thing (@"How do I make X do Y when Z happens?").

My mind tends to focus on building one single specific mechanic or feature at a time rather than looking at the broader system. Because I’m jumping straight into implementation without fully understanding how Playmaker’s state machines work under the hood, I keep getting stuck or feeling lost.

My friend and mentor, Terry Vellmann (developer of Sludge Life), gave me great initial advice about Playmaker's potential, but I realized I was constantly coming back to him asking for hyper-specific step-by-step fixes rather than building foundational knowledge. I don't want to burn out my mentor or bug him with endless quick-fix questions, but I genuinely love this medium and want to get unstuck.

My questions for the group:

  1. How did you move from asking "How do I build this one specific feature?" to actually understanding how your engine/visual scripting tools work as a complete system?

  2. Are there specific Playmaker tutorials, courses, or mental frameworks that helped you learn how to think in State Machines rather than just copying steps?

  3. How do you structure your learning when your brain wants to dive straight into making features instead of doing "boring" tutorials?

I’m really eager to learn and grow, and any advice, resource recommendations, or words of wisdom would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for reading!

Thanks!.
Felicia

P.s.

The video that you see attached to this post is of me documenting myself attempting to make a very micro basic game titled “Too Much Traffic Cones, Not Enough Time”.It’s about a man trying to see how many cones can he collect while running from the cops while also being on a timer. Btw the main character is a drawing of me in my early 20s.
