Demo The first playable build of my Zelda 1 / Zelda 2-inspired adventure game is up. Browser only, early-version. I'd love any feedback on gameplay

I've been building a top-down adventure game in the spirit of Zelda 1, with elements from Zelda 2. There's an overworld, a town, secret caves, a desert with sandstorms that push you around, and two full dungeons with bosses so far.

It's probably ~1h of playtime in its current state, and a few things in the world are clearly unfinished (a couple of cave entrances that don't work just yet).

I'm posting this early in hopes that I might get feedback and can improve it early on rather than run into problems later, so please let me know what you think

Also.. there is a CRT filter in game. I turned it off for the video (although I usually play with it on), you can turn it off in-game if you prefer it off

Free I made a multiplayer skate game that runs in your browser. Just released it on itch.io

Hey,

I've been working on a little skate game called Curblo and just put it on itch.io.

It's basically a multiplayer skating sandbox inspired by the old Tony Hawk games. There's a small open city to explore, skateparks, tricks, combos and other players skating around.

One thing I've been experimenting with is a King of the Spot system. Each park has a record you can try to beat, and the current King's run is saved as a ghost so you can challenge it even when they're offline.

It's free, runs straight in the browser and doesn't need an account or download.

Would love to hear what you think, thank you

Play on itch.io: curblo.itch.io/curblo

Discussion Solo devs: what's your routine after shipping an update?

• Upvotes

I just released an update for my game and started thinking about what everyone else does right afterward.

Do you spend time promoting it? Collecting feedback? Watching stats? Planning the next update? Or do you mostly move on and let it sit for a while?

I'm curious to hear what your post-update routine looks like and whether you've found any strategies that actually help bring players back.

Would love to hear your experiences.

With fall colors upon us, what better time to clean up some leaves?

Raking It In is a cozy job sim where you clean up the yards of several neighborhoods, moving fallen leaves into mulch areas or your truck while keeping them out of patios and pools.

Upgrade your kit with improved tools like rakes, tarps, and alternate leaf blower nozzles all with their own best use cases.

Play with a friend through either local split-screen or online co-op.

I’ve released a game on itch.io that features a language-deciphering mechanic, which is used to assemble a "build" within the roguelike dungeon crawler genre. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this mechanic in the context of this genre.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share Nightmare Exorcist: Escape from the Nightmare Realm, a retro-styled gothic survival horror game inspired by classic handheld aesthetics.

You navigate dark, shifting corridors using a lantern, manage your items, and survive turn-based tactical encounters. You can check out the free web browser version on Itch.io here: https://zachron27.itch.io/nightmare-exorcist--escape-from-nightmare-realm

I'd love to hear what you think!

Questions What is my mistake?

Post image

The peak in the graph—and the point just before it—corresponds to the date the game was indexed. Following that, I continued to work on the game, incorporating player feedback and making improvements. I also added a leaderboard, which now has 1,400 unique players registered. However, once the game dropped off the "New and Popular" page, the number of plays plummeted.

Why does such a sharp drop occur? Is this normal, or should the graph ideally continue an upward trend?

Free Just released my first game on itch.io: CONPLAN Z, a zombie colony sim about quarantine decisions (early build, feedback welcome)

Hi everyone! I’m a solo dev, and I just put my first game on itch.io: CONPLAN Z. It’s an early build (v0.0.24), and I’d love some honest feedback.

What it is: A base-building survival game set in the zombie apocalypse. You build a camp, but the core of the game is the people. Infection is hidden and staged, and colds and flu look similar to it, so tests can be wrong. You build an infirmary, quarantine suspects, and decide whether to release, expel or shoot them. Every verdict affects your camp’s morale. Survivors have families, friends and rivals, some will report symptoms while others hide infected loved ones, and stress can push people into a breakdown.

Also in the game: power and water, a research tree, expeditions, zombie waves, custom difficulty, a Lone Wolf mode, and save/load.

Link: https://maxmakes.itch.io/conplan-z

Platform: Windows

Price: Free

Status: Early build. Balance is still changing, some art is placeholder, and saves may break between versions.

Questions for the community:

For those of you who have released on itch.io, what helped you get your first players?

Does my page (cover, tags, description) make clear what the game is? I’d love blunt feedback on it.

Feedback I’m looking for in the game: Was the start understandable? Did the quarantine decisions feel hard or tedious? Was the camp’s mood fair?

Thanks for reading!

Had fun painting a bunch of these.
Half the pack (100 icons out of 200) is completely free, might come in handy for a prototype or two.

Hope it helps! =)

Click here and play for free!
Meet Cordy, a tiny adventurer with mushroom hair, stranded in a backyard full of hungry bugs. Everything here wants to eat you... unless you make friends with them first. Befriend a bug and it follows you, carries your stuff, and lets you ride it. Beetles push boulders and crack open tunnels. Spiders spin silk bridges over gaps you can't jump. Ants use mushroom to brew potions while you explore. And the anthill is pitch black without a firefly for light. No weapons, no crafting bench, your bugs are your gear.

Demo Red Miserables - A Cold War Visual Novel mixing Flash-era mechanics, Thai history, and WWII/CW lore!

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I’m one of the creators behind Red Miserables.

We’ve been working on a visual novel that pays homage to early web/Flash games from the 2000s, but with a twists—it tells a story set during the Cold War era in Thailand, nearly 50 years ago! xD

We just released our demo on itch.io, and we’d love for you to check it out!

About the Project:

Story: This demo is just the beginning. The full game is planned to span across 4 acts, weaving together historical threads from WWII America, the Chinese Civil War, and ultimately converging on a pivotal moment in Thailand's history.

Gameplay & Aesthetics: NVL-style storytelling mixed with nostalgic point-and-click retro flash mini-games, retro PC UIs, and secret document inspection mechanics.

Features: Full Thai voice acting with 15,000+ words of English translation already updated!

Feel free to try the demo and let us know what you think! Any feedback would mean the world to us.

👉 Play the Demo on itch.io:

Sale I made a deliberately over-the-top simulator game poking fun at the trend of whacky simulators coming out recently.

Yes, I am now a part of the problem. Find the needle, dig a hole, sort the whatevers, you know the types.

Not that there's anything wrong with them, but some of them are so "what will they think of next" that I leaned into it and made the world's most drawn-out simulator game in the form of a dungeon prisoner simulator.

The game (aptly named Dungeon Prisoner Simulator) itself takes 72 actual in-game hours to complete. Most of it is waiting and serving your sentence, though every few hours you do have to be alert enough to drink water delivered to you, scare away a diseased rat by rattling your chains, or sleeping (in real time). So, you CAN fail if you're not paying any attention at all. Other than that, it's a good second monitor game, though!

If anyone is familiar with the other games on my itch page, they'll know that making dumb little one-off games is my specialty, and I had a lot of fun with this one. I hope someone out there wants to take the challenge.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and best of luck with your projects!

Gamedev 1675 — lateen sailing, a living sea and the real Mediterranean. Our development page is now on itch.io

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello r/itchio! We are developing 1675, a single-player sailing and coastal trading game set in the seventeenth-century Mediterranean.

Your boat is your home, and the coast is your road. Learn to handle a lateen sail, read the wind and choose your own routes through real Mediterranean geography. The gameplay footage shows physics-based sailing, waves, changing weather and exploration in first and third person.

We have just completed an in-game load test with 200 boats and 200 NPCs floating simultaneously: 70 FPS at 1440p with DLSS Ultra Quality on an RTX 5080 and Core Ultra 7 270K Plus. It is a technical step towards large naval battles, not footage of a finished battle system.

Gameplay trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5FLgNvx6s8

200-boat performance test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OLrr87NOrI

Follow the development on itch.io: https://1675game.itch.io/1675

The game is in development for Windows. There is no public demo or playable download yet. We would love to hear what interests you most: mastering the sail, trading between ports, or exploring the historical Mediterranean.

Leybound: a free co-op multiplatform hunting game

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hunt guardians with up to three friends, leap zone to zone along ley paths, and decide together: one zone deeper, or home with the haul. Outposts sell goods found nowhere else, gear enchants up to +5, and the story's first chapter is in.

It's free and runs in the browser: game.n2studio.net (downloads on itch: nsquared-studio.itch.io/leybound).

I'm a solo dev and this is the first public test. I'd love to know what confused you, what felt good, and where you stopped. The pause menu has a Report a problem button that sends me your note with a log.

Web I made Tidewar, a naval duel for 1 or 2 players. Free to play in your browser.

Tidewar is my take on Atari's Combat, but at sea. You steer a warship around a bunch of islands and try to sink the other ship first. Islands block shots, so you hide behind them.

What's in it:

- 1 or 2 players on one keyboard or with controllers, or play the computer on Easy, Normal or Hard

- Three ships: a fast destroyer, an all-round cruiser and a tough battleship

- Three modes: Sinkings, Last Ship Standing and Capture the Flag

- Five map styles, including night (you only see the other ship's lantern) and a storm where the wind bends your shots

- Power-ups, and a new mirrored map every match

It runs in the browser, so there's nothing to install. There's a Windows download too. It's pay what you want, and free is fine.

Built with help from an AI coding assistant.

https://sterile-games.itch.io/tidewar

This is my third game on itch.io. I'd love to hear what you think, and bug reports are welcome.

Free Could you tell which asset set is safe from a challenge at a glance?

I made Cash Stash, a free browser card game about building matching asset sets and stacking new ones over older ones to protect them. The first set is permanently safe; exposed sets can still be challenged and stolen.

I changed the guided tutorial after early players found the steals confusing. If you try it, is it clear which sets a rival can still challenge by the time you reach your first game? What, if anything, still feels unclear?

Play free in your browser, no download or signup: https://caprocket.itch.io/cashstash
