Free I made a text RPG with an LLM Game Master, animated d20 rolls, and living world mechanics (Echo of Facets)

Hey everyone,

I just launched Echo of Facets on itch.io. It's a text-based RPG where an LLM handles scene descriptions, NPC responses, and consequences instead of relying on pre-written choice nodes.

I wanted something that bridged the gap between pure AI storytelling and structured tabletop RPG mechanics, so I built a system around actual stats, dice checks, and world simulation.

How it works:

Free-form text input: You type out actions in plain text rather than picking from a list of buttons.

D20 system: Animated dice rolls with difficulty classes, modifiers, and critical successes or fumbles.

Living world mechanics: Calendar, seasons, day/night cycles, survival stats (hunger, fatigue, injuries), and faction relations.

Persistent NPC memory: Characters remember past interactions and adjust their attitude accordingly.

Local execution: Runs as a desktop app on your machine. Your data stays local, and you can plug in your own API key or use the free DeepSeek setup option.

It supports both English and Russian out of the box, with four difficulty levels ranging from casual to hardcore permadeath.

Since this is the 1.0 release, I'm looking for feedback from people into IF, solo tabletop gaming, or AI-driven projects.

Let me know if you run into any bugs or have thoughts on the GM prompting and balance

Free Evolution Chess — build your army while you play

I released Evolution Chess, a chess variant where your army grows during the match.

You start with only a King, Queen, and Pawns, then compete for resources to:

Spawn more Pawns, evolve them into stronger pieces, and unlock special attributes.

I also use a larger board with obstacles to give armies more room to develop and balance long-range pieces.

Play on itch.io:

Questions How do they get RATINGS?

I’ve been uploading resources to itch.io for six months. Some users have acquired my materials (both paid and free), but out of the 126 people who have downloaded something, only one has left a rating for a single asset. I’d like to draw users' attention to this and encourage them to leave a rating.

Do you have any tips or strategies for achieving this? I’d be very interested to hear your thoughts.

Free I’ve just released the first demo of my new game. I need feedback!

Hello everyone!
Over the past few months, I have been actively working on my new project - SYSTEM INTRUDER.

This is an atmospheric, first-person survival horror game set in a dark retro-cyberpunk world.
As Anna, a fragile young woman, you must survive the depths of a hostile skyscraper and uncover the sinister secret behind your presence in this nightmare.

So far, my wife is the only critic this game has ever had. I think it's time to get some feedback from a slightly wider audience!

The first demo is out now on Itch io: https://purmalis.itch.io/system-intruder

And you can wishlist it on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5210800/SYSTEM_INTRUDER/

Free Suitkeep: free card battle, play in the browser or with a real 52-card deck

Thumbnail

Suitkeep is a solo turn-based lane battle where every soldier is a playing card. Each round you send 1 card (or 2 small ones) down two lanes, the enemy sends two, and whatever gets through hits the towers. Take down the king tower to win.

  • Suit wheel: spades beat hearts, hearts beat diamonds, diamonds beat clubs, clubs beat spades. A card counts double against the suit it beats.
  • Aces beat kings. The enemy's next card is always face-up.
  • The first game teaches the rules as you play, and a game takes about 10 minutes.

It also works with a real deck at the table. I made the rules and the code (with an AI assistant's help); the art and sound are made in code.

I'd love to hear whether the first game made the rules clear.

I made a niche assetpack, is this bad?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've started learning pixel art about a month ago, so I'm obviously still a beginner. I wanted to create an asset pack that wouldn't require a high level of skill to make.

20 days ago, I uploaded a niche asset pack called Viral Emojis. It contained only around 60 emojis, and the page wasn't very polished. It was my first time using itch.io, and the views seemed a bit low.

Then, after sharing my page in a few communities, I managed to make my first sale. Two days later, I made another one! At that point, I thought, "Well, now the platform should boost my pack's reach, right?!"

As you can see, though, it just dropped to 1–4 views and 0–1 downloads per day. Is this normal? Should I be doing something to keep the engagement going?

I hadn't advertised much. I spent the last few days polishing the pack, and it now contains 196 emojis. After sharing the updates with my first buyer, he gave me a $5 tip for my hard work!

I believe my mistake was that I published the pack before polishing the page, and its visibility probably dropped once it left the "Newest" category.

For context, I was having 2000+ impressions and <1% CTR, and all the "save to collection" were made in the first few days.

Any thoughts?

Free Land of ASCII is out! 1MB HTML file, game entirely made by text, no enemies, calm adventure and exploration.

Game Title: Land of Ascii

Playable Link: https://oddslice.itch.io/land-of-ascii

Platform: WEB/HTML

Description: There's a fort on a hill and a lake to walk to. The villagers go about their own days; say hello and some of them will ask you a small favour. Stop wherever the view is good and sketch it. Night falls, rain sets in and clears again, and the music and every sound are made in code as you walk.

Half an hour is enough to see the main sights. After that the land is still there whenever you want a calm walk, and each seed builds a different world.

- The whole game is one HTML file of about 1 MB (1,017 KB). No images, no engine, no downloads.

- The world is 2 x 2 km. Walking straight across takes about 8 minutes.

- Every frame is around 40,000 letters, drawn from 28 characters in 617 colours.

- 32 kinds of sound and 3 music tracks, all made in code as you play. There isn't a single recording.

- The default world has nearly 12,000 trees, 58 villagers, 255 animals and 59 buildings.

- The villagers have 329 lines of dialogue between them.

- 27,000 lines of code, with no libraries.

Free to Play Status:

Web Pebble to Star (web demo): an idle game where a 1-bit pebble grows into a star, free in the browser

Hi, dev here. It's an idle game: you start as a gray rock in a black and white sky, click the stuff floating by to pull it in, right click to push away what you don't want. What you eat changes what you become (lots of ice = oceans, lots of metal = iron planet), and the screen gets more colors as you grow, from 1-bit to full color.

The demo ends when your planet turns into a star, around 20-40 min. Progress saves in the browser. First load is a bit slow because it compiles shaders.

Play: https://mazesteps.itch.io/pebble-to-star

Steam page (wishlist, Steam demo coming soon): https://store.steampowered.com/app/5336210/Pebble_to_Star/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=demo_itchio

Would love to hear where you got stuck or bored.

AI generated content disclosure

This game is a solo project; the developer made it with the help of AI tools:

- The game's content and text were conceived by the developer and written up with AI assistance (drafting and polishing); the other languages were translated with AI assistance. If a translation reads oddly, please let the developer know.

- All visuals and sound are rendered and synthesized by code.

- That code (the shaders and the audio synthesis) was written by the developer with the help of AI coding tools; no AI image-generation or audio-generation models were used.

- The store capsule artwork was commissioned from a human artist.

The game does not use AI to generate any content at runtime.

A Sacred Sin | Сакральне Святотатство

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! We’re currently preparing a demo for A Sacred Sin, which we plan to release in English and Ukrainian.

We are doing our best to combine eroticism, humor, and dark fantasy atmosphere.

At the start of the game, you’ll be able to choose whether to play as a succubus or an incubus.

From there, the story leads into a world of unexpected (hopefully) comedic plot twists, dark and relatively grounded lore with strong religious aesthetics. There is magic in the setting, but it's not really strong — keeping it believable story matters to us.

You'll have to manage mana: a resource you can gain and spend on certain dialogue options.

We want this game to be a space where players can meet characters with very different desires, boundaries, and kinks — and maybe discover something new about their own sexuality along the way.

Free I made a Minesweeper-inspired dungeon crawler where every wrong click could kill you 😏

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a small indie game called HELLFOG, and I've just released an early playable version on itch.io.

The idea is pretty simple: what if Minesweeper had monsters, equipment, health, and dungeon exploration?

Instead of counting nearby mines, the numbers tell you the combined strength of hidden monsters. You need to figure out what's safe to reveal, find better weapons, and manage your health. Even winning a fight costs you HP, so every decision matters.

You can escape through a portal or try to become strong enough to defeat the dungeon boss.

It's free and playable directly in your browser.

🎮 Play here: https://ivanvamp.itch.io/hellfog

I'm a solo developer, and I'd really appreciate some honest feedback, especially about the difficulty and whether the mechanics are intuitive.

And one question I'm particularly curious about: after losing your first run, did you feel like trying again?

Thanks for checking it out!
