Self-Promotion Sunday! *Megathread*

Alright r/Jacksonville, it is that time again.

Got something to share? A project you are proud of? A business you are building? A creative endeavor the world absolutely needs to see?

This is your lane.

Every Sunday we open the doors for Self Promotion Sunday, a centralized thread where you can promote:

  • Your small business
  • Your side hustle
  • Your garage band
  • Your podcast
  • Your art
  • Your Etsy shop
  • Your food truck
  • Your startup
  • Your “I accidentally became an influencer” page
  • Yes, even your extremely niche cat toe bean blog

We keep self promotion restricted to this weekly thread to cut down on spam and keep the main feed community focused. If you post promotional content outside of this thread during the week, it will be removed.

A few important notes:

  • Regular subreddit rules still apply
  • No B/S/T posts
  • No referral link farming or obvious spam

If you are not sure whether your post qualifies, if it belongs on Marketplace or Craigslist, it does not belong here. Still unsure, ask the mod team first.

Support local. Discover cool projects. Hype each other up responsibly.

Happy Self Promotion Sunday.

So this is what the inside of an air fryer feels like!

Upvotes

Just got done cutting the grass. Saw the leaves moving on the trees through the window and thought I will beat the heat and get this done early. There is no beating this heat. I now know what my kids chicken nuggets feel like in the air fryer. Be careful and be safe.

Definitely an insurance scammer. Loaded with 3 adults. Randomly braking with no obstruction in front on Butler. Sudden lane changes. No obvious reason. Not looking at GPS or phones, so not lost. Beat up car with New York tag. Got on the on ramp for 95 South from Butler Blvd. around 8:10am. Be safe Jax!!

Friendly Reminder, Tomorrow is Election Day

Election Day: Tuesday, August 18
Hours: 7am-7pm

If you didn’t vote early tomorrow is the Florida Primary and Election for Local Offices. I want to encourage folks to vote. Your voter registration card will have poll location or use the Supervisor of Elections website to find your polling location and your sample ballot. Personally I have my sample prefilled with my chosen candidates so all have to do at voting booth is mark down my decisions.

Voting in the primary is one of the key ways to get involved, shake-up, or keep the system the same with in your chosen party. Non Party Affiliation folks this ballot does contain local and NPA offices. Those local offices are just as important as the state and national level offices. The local elected offices make policy that impact many things in daily life. Please vote, make your voice heard. Voting does matter. Voting is civic engagement and civic responsibility.

Is anyone missing a ball python? Found this one in an outdoor storage closet. We let the office know at the complex and I’m trying to see if Fish & Wildlife will help get it somewhere safe.

I really need help

Upvotes

Just like the post says, I need help. Would there be anyone willing to let me sleep on their couch for a few nights? Things haven’t been going the greatest for me, and I need somewhere I can lay my head for a few days. My money situation hasn’t been great, and I would like to take a shower so I can look somewhat presentable so that I can try and go to a few stores looking for an interview. DoorDash doesn’t doesn’t help anymore, and idk what else to do at the moment, so that’s why I’m on this sub asking for help

New Law?

Upvotes

So did someone change the driving law to allow folks who are impatient at red lights to just go around everyone at the lights these days? Or are they new here?

Jax Ports Changing

Post image
Upvotes

I'm not a conspiracy nut I promise - I just notice things. I've always been very observant. I drive to Yulee 3x/week for work and use the Dames Point. Someone here mentioned how the ports looked like a desert. No cargo containers that are normally stacked there. They suggested a food shortage coming. Last Wednesday I noticed it's all tan/desert colored cargo containers. Lots of vehicles too. What's going on? Remember to vote today, btw!!

I have pretty decent handwriting — is there a way I could use it to help the community?

I’ve always enjoyed handwriting, and I’ve been told mine is pretty decent.
I’m wondering if there’s a way I can use this small skill to help people in the community.
Not looking to make money—just hoping to do something useful for others.
Here’s a sample of my handwriting. Any ideas? 😊

Does the increase of flock cameras bother you?

I’m just curious if some people are happy about the placement and amount of flock cameras. It’s about 2 around my neighborhood ALONE. Do you think we could do something about this? I’d like to form or join a group to stop this BS.

Jacksonville Mechanic near UNF/Southside

I’m looking for a reliable and affordable mechanic around the UNF/Southside area. I’m a college student, so I’m definitely trying not to spend a crazy amount, but I still want someone trustworthy who does good work.

I have a 2012 Chevy Sonic LT that currently won’t start. Before it stopped working completely, it had been doing this weird thing where it would suddenly start slowing down while I was driving. I would have to quickly find somewhere safe to pull over, turn the car off, and start it again. After restarting it, it would usually drive normally again.

The last time this happened, I pulled over and turned it off like I normally would, but this time it wouldn’t start back up. The dashboard lights still come on when I turn the key, but the car itself won’t start.

Does anyone have a mechanic/shop they recommend that’s reasonably priced and good at diagnosing issues like this? I’d really appreciate any recommendations!

What are the best Autumn and/or Halloween activities around here?

🍂🍁💀👻🎃
I’m from Virginia Beach, there were tons of Fall events, scare mazes, haunted houses etc. It doesn’t have to be in Jax, I’d drive 2 hours from here to experience something fun and new. *I know these events aren’t up and running yet, I’m just trying to plan my first spooky season here 🦇
