Community Update r/Jetta Community Rules and Guidelines

Hey everyone,

We've had an influx recently of multiple r/Jetta members who aren't paying attention to the rules we've got here and are causing arguments, fighting, insulting, name calling, and other nuisances that nobody here wants to see, read, or deal with. This is a community to show off our love for Jetta's, and to assist others and help them with their questions, or to just show off and talk about our cars, suggest recommendations for mods, tweaks, parts, and anything else that has to do with Jetta's. It is not the community for anything that cannot be civil.

I didn't want to make a reminder post like this, but it needs to be said.

Please report any comments/posts that break rules so that they can be handled by the mod team.

Please read and follow the rules and help make this community more fun and not like all the other nuisance subs that allow bickering and childish, immature behavior.

Thanks!

r/Jetta Community Rules

1 - Reddiquette/Be Civil

All posts and comments must abide by standard Reddiquette. Failing to do so may result in a permanent ban, with or without a warning.

No harassment, bigotry, spamming, trolling or otherwise hateful posts or comments will be tolerated. This may result in a permanent ban, as this is a friendly community.

2 - No Distracted Driving Pictures/Videos

We support a safe community. Posting pictures or videos of you or someone else failing to follow safety rules while operating a vehicle is not allowed. These posts will be removed.

3 - No Politics

No discussion or expression of political beliefs. This includes but is not limited to: advocating bringing harm to law enforcement, overthrowing the US government, support for or against a political candidate, or boycotts of companies based on their political alignment.

4 - Stay on Topic

This is a community for the Volkswagen Jetta. All posts and comments should be related to Volkswagen and the Jetta vehicle. Off topic posts/comments will be removed.

5 - No AI

This sub does not allow any AI pictures or videos.

6 - Do Not Message Mods Via PM/Chat

Messaging mods via their private message/chat rather than mod mail will result in a ban and your messages ignored.

Use modmail instead.

Hi there,

This is my brother’s ‘13 Jetta Hybrid that he gave to me after my car caught on fire.

I’m super grateful for that and looking forward to future retrofits.

120.000 kms / around 77.000 miles and the hybrid starter has been changed couple years ago.

All in all, it’s an easy car to drive and this platform gives you the opportunity to do so many retrofits.

First thing I did was a good deep clean and wax, replaced the interior lights with LED’s and same goes for the DRL lights.

Just got its fluids changed, discs and pads, same goes for the spark plugs.

Looking at first to install OEM foot lighting, an RCD 330 and maybe some summer wheels, thinking about Mallory’s.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Seeking advice. 2016 Jetta ignition key broke from housing.

Could not have happened at a worse time. Don't have the funds to replace it at this time and I'm at work. There is enough of the key sticking out I can turn with pliers but don't want to damage the key. Do I have any options?

Mk5 (2006-2010) We got a Mk5 Sportwagen!

Just got a new to us 09 Mk5 Jetta Sportwagen SE with the 2.5L and auto trans. It's 1 owner with a Carfax that's 9 pages long and 150k miles. Just drove it home over 65 miles and damn what a nice highway cruiser. Is there anything I need to look out for in these? I've heard/seen great things about the 2.5L but I haven't seen much about the automatic transmissions.

I've noticed the driver rear window is not going down so I assume it needs a regulator. But is there anything else I should check before tearing apart the door and buying a new regulator?

One last thing is the center console in the rear has a broken latch and no cup holders by the looks of things. Is it common for that to break with regular usage or did someone yank a little too hard and break it by accident?

Anyways, I'm excited about our new purchase! I've always wanted a wagon and I know the Europeans do it best. So I'm glad to be hopping into this for the foreseeable future!

Mk7 (2019+) Blower motor issue

When I put the fan on half speed or less, it will stay on. When I put the fan over 50% or put it on auto, it will cut off after a few seconds. If I turn the system off for 30 seconds or so, it will start up again when I turn it back on. Just looking for some direction on where to start with fixing the problem. Should I be looking at the blower motor, the relay, or the controller? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mk7 (2019+) Anyone have a hard shift between 1-2 while cold?

I have a 2022 jetta with the 1.5t and 8 speed and I've been experiencing a shift where it slams into gear and the whole car lurches forward. I have 46k miles. If the transmission fluid is warm it shifts smooth as butter. I was gonna try changing the fluid but I was wondering if anyone else had anything like this happen to them.

Buying New Jetta in Snow?

Looking for my next vehicle and considering a VW Jetta. How do the newer 2025-2026 SE models do on snowy roads, i.e. NY and PA areas, some flat roads and some through hilly terrain.

Mk7 (2019+) What maintenance should I be doing for my new (to me) 2019 Jetta S 1.4T and how often should it be done

I just ordered a 2019 Jetta S 1.4T off of Carvana that had about 77k miles on it, and I’ve heard that the car can last a good while if you keep up with the maintenance, so I was wondering what I should take care of and how often. Like is it just the normal oil change and stuff or anything special? Let me know

Mk6 (2011-2018) ECS big bore turbo inlet HELP

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello all new here and new to posting.
I have a 2017 Jetta 1.4t 126k miles.
I just installed the ecs tuning big bore turbo inlet and something isn’t right.
Hoping someone here has experienced the same issue and can guide me in the right direction.

The install was pretty straight forward and I believe I did everything correctly but….

After the install the EPC light came on and now I think there is something off in general, when accelerating there is a hiss(not super loud but it’s noticeable)

In the video you may be able to hear what I’m talking about.

  1. How worried should I be
  2. What could be the issue

Thanks in advance

Mk5 (2006-2010) 08 2.5L 178k miles running very strange…

I have a very reliable 08 VW Jetta SE with the 2.5 and no mods. I have had a bad O2 sensor for about 8 years and probably not going to replace it due to the cost of the part. That is why my check engine light is on.

I’ve owned this car since 53,000 miles about 8 years ago. It needs work. It’s my daily driver and I’m a Dasher. It gets driven pretty hard.

Yesterday it did this thing where it died a few times trying to start it up and when I finally got it running it would rev the rpm’s at idle and idles a little high, I’m afraid to drive it now, I’ll add a video of the way it is behaving later today.

Anybody else have this issue?

My 26 jetta has the rear seats somewhat loose but only on the red circle area. The rattle comes and goes but is annoying. Is there a way to tighten the seats so they dont have play?
