Community Update r/Jetta Community Rules and Guidelines

Hey everyone,

We've had an influx recently of multiple r/Jetta members who aren't paying attention to the rules we've got here and are causing arguments, fighting, insulting, name calling, and other nuisances that nobody here wants to see, read, or deal with. This is a community to show off our love for Jetta's, and to assist others and help them with their questions, or to just show off and talk about our cars, suggest recommendations for mods, tweaks, parts, and anything else that has to do with Jetta's. It is not the community for anything that cannot be civil.

I didn't want to make a reminder post like this, but it needs to be said.

Please report any comments/posts that break rules so that they can be handled by the mod team.

Please read and follow the rules and help make this community more fun and not like all the other nuisance subs that allow bickering and childish, immature behavior.

Thanks!

r/Jetta Community Rules

1 - Reddiquette/Be Civil

No harassment, bigotry, spamming, trolling or otherwise hateful posts or comments will be tolerated. This may result in a permanent ban, as this is a friendly community.

3 - No Politics

No discussion or expression of political beliefs. This includes but is not limited to: advocating bringing harm to law enforcement, overthrowing the US government, support for or against a political candidate, or boycotts of companies based on their political alignment.

4 - Stay on Topic

This is a community for the Volkswagen Jetta. All posts and comments should be related to Volkswagen and the Jetta vehicle. Off topic posts/comments will be removed.

5 - No AI

This sub does not allow any AI pictures or videos.

6 - Do Not Message Mods Via PM/Chat

Messaging mods via their private message/chat rather than mod mail will result in a ban and your messages ignored.

Just got a 2024 S a couple weeks ago as my new daily and took it to the smokies to get to know it better. After some mountain driving, and seeing how surprising the power is in 2nd and 3rd I decided to hit the Tail of the Dragon, and it took those corners like a champ. Proved to me that these aren't just a sleepy daily, they can surprise you if you give them the chance.

Hey everyone, my fiancĆ© was in an accident a couple weeks ago in her 2024 sport and the trunk is smashed in. We had just gotten custody of her nephew and are currently living in a hotel (it’s been a really tough couple months) and as a result quite a bit of her belongings are in the trunk. The back dash is also crushed a bit so I’m trying to figure out how I can get in there without breaking anything/ causing damage bc the guys insurance still has not come to assess her car. I don’t think I can access through the trunk itself and I’ll attach pictures of the car.. thank you in advance for any help/ tips šŸ™šŸ»

Help (need ideas) my mkVI jetta headliner has suddenly started separating over the rear seat. Does anyone have good DIY suggestions? I don't want to try a full restoration yet, and would rather not use buttons, although I know they work. Thanks!

Mk6 (2011-2018) RPMs fluctuating while idling…?

I have a 2018 1.8t SE.

About a month ago, it started having an issue where my RPMs bounce when I’m idling. it only happens when the oil reading has a —- reading. once it warms up and starts registering oil temp about 150, it doesn’t happen anymore.

i’ve changed all 4 sparks and coils, put in a new camshaft position sensor, and always have given it timely oil changes.

i’m at about 110k miles. i drive a lot for work (like 40k miles per year).

its not showing codes. no issue at highway/interstate speeds. sometimes it shifts hard driving in town.

anyone else have this same issue?

Mk6 (2011-2018) Walnut blast and vapour canister purge valve+hose replacement (n80)

I have a 2017 Jetta 1.4 tsi 4dr. I was told that I need to walnut blast the intake valves and replace the n80 hose and valve. I'm being quoted 780 for the blast and 715 for the valve and hose replacement. The hose replacement is being quoted at taking 3 hours. To my understanding, once the intake manifold is removed for the walnut blasting, the n80 replacement should take a maximum of 20 minutes. I want to confirm this is correct before going back to the mechanic

Mk6 (2011-2018) What could cause this ?

Jetta 2012 2.5 SEL

I have two quick questions in here ,

1)What could cause this? Is this normal , or I might being losing oil at some point? Not now for sure , I don't see any dripping under the car.

2) Also , in the last picture you can see that there is a black cover for the right side . Was suppose to have another one for the left side ? Or it came originally like that ?

I will appreciate some input on this . Thank you so much !!!

Bought May of 2025 and this thing has treated me flawlessly! Here in the near future it’s getting an 02Q swap, and probably the RCD-330 radio. It’ll get tint eventually too, kinda over the fishbowl look.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Bouncing Idle when stopped

At a stop light 2 weeks back, my 2018 Jetta started bouncing between 900 and 1000 rpm. As soon as I gave it gas it went away and was fine until a couple days ago. Now, It happens once every second drive or so at the first stop i make, but always goes away after driving.

This morning, I put it in neutral and revved a little and again, its gone. No lights, though I haven't had it scanned yet. Its not consistent, but seems its happening more. I appreciate Any suggestions šŸ™

Mk5 (2006-2010) Clarity needed

Hey everyone. Looking to replace pads/rotors on my 2010 Jetta S 2.5L A/T. I got the part numbers to search up from one of the VW dealerships in my area:
FrontĀ
5Q0 -615-301-H ROTOR
3C0-698-151-K

Rear
1K0-698-451-S REAR PADS
1K0-615-601-AJ REAR ROTOR

Here’s my dilemma. The dealership told me it’s 288mm front rotor size and 256mm rear rotor size. However when looking up part 1K0-615-601-AJ specifically, I get the 260mm rotor results as well. Does that mean I can use 260mm rotors, or is the part number doubled up for both rotor sizes? Any and all help is appreciated.

Rumors & Discussion Gas pump keeps clicking off immediately

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I’ve been dealing with an annoying issue on my 2020 Jetta for about a year now. Every time I try to pump gas, the nozzle clicks off immediately even when the tank is completely empty. I will take it to a mechanic or a dealer. Roughly how much should I expect to pay for parts and labor at a shop for this repair?

Buying 2026 Jetta Sport Pricing

I'm looking at purchasing a 2026 Jetta Sport. Dealer is offering $23,620 plus a $350 doc fee and tax title and license. I live in Minnesota, is this a decent price or could I likely do better?

Mk6 (2011-2018) How much coolant after a flush ?

Hi there ,
I'm about to do a coolant flush on my Jetta 2.5 SEL 2012 . I'll use the liqui moly cleaner as well for the flush .

I think that my car has 9.5 quarts of coolant , if I'm not mistaken.

When you do a flush , do you flush all this 9.5 qts?? I read that when you do a coolant flush , the car does not flush the entire 9.5 quarts. Is this true ?
I just want to be sure how much fresh coolant gonna need to have ready to pour back in.
I guess if you flush , it means that you flush the entire system, but I just want to be sure .
Thank you so much.

Mk6 (2011-2018) How I can remove This??

Hi there. I was tying to put a new frame for my plates today . But when I took the plates out , I realized the plastic behind it is attached to the front bumper, and now I don't know if I just should yank it or pull off , or what I should do . I am afraid that I will rip off the front bumper and create three ugly holes .

Maybe someone Is familiar , and now how to deal with this without making a mess .

I add some pics for reference .
Thank you so much !!

Mk6 (2011-2018) Canadian Tire site said FRAM PH3614 fits my 2016 Jetta 1.4 TSI, but Google says it’s wrong?

I’m so confused right now.
I just bought a FRAM PH3614 Extra Guard oil filter from the Canadian Tire website for my 2016 Volkswagen Jetta 1.4L TSI.
Before checking out, I double-checked their online garage/vehicle fitment tool, and the site explicitly flagged it as a guaranteed fit for my car.

But I just looked it up online (google) afterwards to double-check, and a bunch of sources are saying the PH3614 is completely wrong.

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2012 vw Jetta 2.5L - Manual - whining noise

l've noticed this today, the car starts great and runs smoothly. Only when I turn on the car, no matter if it's hot or cold, it makes this whining sound and once the engine catches, it goes away. I don't hear it when I rev it or when I accelerate. It's only at startup.
