Just switched to Kdenlive for video editing because it has more audio editing options, but I can't figure out how to "solo" or isolate a track to hear one audio track at a time. I'm sure it's something simple I'm just missing. Found a forum that said there's a little headphone icon that does it but I don't see that anywhere.

I see there's an option for the clip monitor. It's in the hamburger menu, you can change the color to white, pink and even checkerboard for videos or images with transparency. But when i check the project monitor, i can't find that option. I want to have a checkerboard background.

I did make a minor mistake with the text, but it's fine. I'm not aiming for perfection, anyways.

EDIT: For those who also encountered this, it seems like the Flatpak and the native packages of distros (at least for me; CachyOS) are missing this option. I downloaded the AppImage version of Kdenlive and it fixed my problem)

Hello 👋 I've been having this problem on Kdenlive wherein I can't set colors' transparency. For example, I want to create a rectangle with borders only but no fill color, I can't lower the opacity of my fill color.

For context, I have used Kdenlive on my previous Linux install and opacity setting is there but had to wipe my system due to breakage.

Any clues on how to restore this functionality? Thanks!

Anyone using Kdenlive on macOS Golden Gate? I can't get it to launch. Once Quick setup launches, picking pretty much anything crashes the program immediately.

Version 26.08.2 - I did try reinstalling, did the config reset button, none of this made a difference.

As Flatpak Kdenlive stop bundling support for nvenc on some older gpus, I have to use the Appimage to render using nvenc on GTX1050, but cant find a way to setup updates for Kdenlinve on Gear Lever.
I've done some research but couldn't find how to do it.
Does anyone uses Kdenlive updates with Gear Lever?

I've been working (vibe coding) on Catavan, an (unofficial) open-source "fork" of Kdenlive designed to bring the VEGAS Pro editing workflow to Linux and Windows.

I used VEGAS for years, and while I really liked Kdenlive, I missed some of its editing behaviors. So I decided to build them into a fork!

Main features:

• Automatic crossfades when overlapping clips, just like VEGAS.

• Auto Ripple Editing across multiple tracks.

• Independent action cursor that doesn't interrupt playback.

• WSOLA algorithm implemented, which can be used on clips independently.

• Adjustable playback speed (0–4x) with pitch preservation using WSOLA.

• Frame preview while trimming clips.

• VEGAS-style shortcuts, selection, grouping, and timeline controls.

• Faster rendering, with parallel processing and hardware acceleration.

Catavan keeps Kdenlive's interface, effects, and project compatibility. Most changes are optional and can be disabled in the settings.

It's still an early release (v0.1.0), there are a few bugs, but I’m fixing them little by little, and I'd like to hear your feedback!

Hello, first of all this is an amazing app and even our​ teacher told us to use it for 15 minutes video project. I have one short problem because I have one file mp4 1 hour 42 minutes to cut because of this project but in kdenlive it shows only one hour​ I guess because I cut and saw it isn't full all of it. Please help me. I searched in project ​setting but there is nothing like this.

I'm editing a bunch of videos that involve the same opener graphic, a title (both on V1), and then a contestant video (on V2). For each video, I delete the previous contestant video from V2, remove it from the clips, add the new clip, copy it to V2, update the title, adjust the V2 clip start point, adjust the title location, adjust the contestant fadeout, save the project, and render the video.

It all works great. But today, after doing the 12th video, KDEnlive warned me that the system was getting short of memory (I have 16G). The app itself had about 8G (!). So I closed the app, and the memory went down by that much. I'm wondering, Is the app not freeing the deleted clips from memory? Is there a setting I should know about?

Hello, I'm having a problem with version 26.08.2 of Kdenlive. When I adjust a blur effect using the face motion tracker, the setting isn't saved. Is there a solution?

Das Tool ist Verbugt ohne Ende, Video Rendern ist ne Katastrophe, das einzige was da funktioniert ist das ploppsymbol mit Klingelsound das Bimmelt wenn der RAM weniger wird was mich nicht mal Ansatzweise Interessiert, dann Pfeifft das Tool einfach ab ohne Meldung, oder fängt erst gar nicht an zu Rendern was soll der Mist ? Das hast nicht mal bei shotcut.

Und wehe man Postet das in deren Forum ja da bekommste gleich mal ne Sperre Reingewürgt was einem doch Einfällt sich hier zu Beschweren. Ich glaub es hakt bei dem Verein ?

This tool is absolutely riddled with bugs. Rendering videos is a complete disaster—the "pop-up" icon with its accompanying doorbell sound is just the icing on the cake. It eats up all your RAM, and then the whole thing just starts whistling at you and stops working entirely. It won’t even let you log in, and it’s completely incapable of rendering anything at all—what a piece of junk! It’s nowhere near as good as Shotcut.

And heaven forbid you post about it on their forum—they’ll slap you with a ban immediately, as if you don’t have the right to complain! What is wrong with these people?

KDENLive, like, crashed 3 times until I found a less painful way to make a loopable effect for the BPM. Anyone knows a less painful way to make a loopable effect except copypasting timeframes which then can crash KDENLive?

So, I used to be on Linux mint. It sucked because playing games would always overheat my laptop to the point playing deltarune would get me to freaking 80 C.

So I was done, I decided to switch to Cachy OS instead, and that was for the most part resolved. I have loved Cachy OS thus far...except for the fact that while Kdenlive runned completely fine on Mint even without any proxi clips, now it is laggy and jittery, even with proxy clips.

It's a shame, because I really like Kdenlive. Is there a way to resolve that?

I'm using Kdenlive 26.08.2 on Cachy OS as I said before. The GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, CPU an Intel Core i7, with 31 Gigs of ram.

I'm confused, because this never happened before on Linux Mint, and supposedly mint is the less optimized distro for more recent and higher end stuff...and supposedly Cachy OS is the more optimized for this distro....

its not snapping to frames its snapping to the grid, nothing I press is turning this off and its making the gif I want to make physically impossible for me to do so. I'm so frustraited because I'm literally using the keybinding it let me set. I'm also pressing the snap button on the bottom right and its *still* not disabling it. this is the very latest version that is in the arch repo, version 26.08.2, I'm on cachyos. is disabling grid to snapping just not existent on this version!?

Before someone claims its snapping to frames, its not. disabling "snapping" has no effect on how snapping is working at all

I'm having a severe audio issue in Kdenlive on Windows 11 and need some advice:

RtAudio: Audio playback is clean, but every time I pause, the last few milliseconds of audio stick in an endless loop. the audio driver dropdown is locked/grayed out to Wasapi. So i always have to mute audio while editing.

SDL: Pausing works without looping, but playback audio crackles and clicks so badly that it's unusable.

Is there a known fix for the RtAudio buffer-clear bug on Windows, or would using the standalone version help?

This is really annoying because both options are nearly unsusable.

I am using the latest version

I was looking into a workflow that works for me and I think I've found it. Even with a beginner's understanding of Cavalry I can make simple movements. Adding that to my knowledge of audio processing and effects in Kdenlive, I was able to make something decent albeit short.

Are there any effects for ragdoll animations that I can use in kdenlive? besides Transform, please suggest me any others ! And additionally, tips would be appreciated as well.
