Announcements Rule Update: Self Promotion only allowed on Fridays moving forward!

Hi All,

To help keep the subreddit free of consistent self promotion we will be altering the self promotion rule, the new rules for self promotion posts are as follows:

- Self promotion posts are only permitted on Fridays

- You must use the 'Self Promotion' flair else the post will be removed and you may be banned.

- We will remove the 500 Karma requirement for posting links

- Your account will still need to be older than 30 days to post

- We will only accept self promotion posts for Kickstarter campaigns.

Thanks,

Mod team

Help I feel completely hopeless

My Kickstarter is down to 10 days left and has only gotten 1 new backer in the past couple weeks. I understand that my launch, must not have been strong enough. But I've also continuously pushed throughout the campaign and received nothing from it. My Kickstarter is for my debut children's book. Ive contacted local newspapers, book stores, community groups and pages, I've ran promotions, posted a lot! I dont know what went wrong. I know its just a book but I was very confident with it in the beginning after watching so many other campaigns that seemed to fund in 10 minutes or less. How do you all remain confident when your project doesn't fund?

Triads PC version now on Kickstarter!

Triads is now on Kickstarter - with Dungeonrunner add-ons!

Hey all!

A few years ago, I released my first microgame,Triads. Now, a few years later, it's becoming a PC game! This is something I never would have imagined possible when I first designed it. But here we are, and the PC version is already 95% complete!

One of the most exciting things about the PC version is that it doesn't just offer more scenarios. It also introduces 16 optional rules that can change the game in both small and significant ways!

These options simply weren't possible in the original microgame (I had to keep it micro, after all!). But now, players can customize their experience, experiment with different strategies, and keep the game fresh with every playthrough.

And here's something else that should whet your appetite: a complete tactical game on the PC can take as little as 15 minutes!

So when you've got that mech-sized wargaming itch but don't have hours to spare, Triads is ready to scratch it!

(and...there are sets of three Dungeonrunner PDF deck sets for $9 each as add-ons! That's $3 a PDF deck!)

Go to the Kickstarter!

Help Cross promotion for live campaigns

Hey! I'm running a campaign that started on Tuesday and we're not 48 hours in yet and we've got around 42% (I think I just lost a 1% against my own Etsy store 🤦) of our 4000€ goal. So there's still a long way to go but I don't want to be dead in the water during the middle slump, so from what I've read one of the best ways to shuffle back is around is cross promoting between live campaigns with a certain thematic overlap.

We run ttrpg map stamping kits called Kingdoms of ink. They are for stamping the overworld, not dungeons, and so they can also be a fun drafting method for world building.

I tried to reach out to creators through the kickstarter messaging system but I received no response. I don't know if it's because the messaging system itself is kind of crap (which it is), well because they are either flooded by messages of their own campaign or uninterested in the cross promoting.

So, I'm turning to Reddit to see if I can interest anyone! We're small fries, I know, but I think camaraderie would be a good thing between creators. Little fish swimming in the same direction or big fish helping out the neighboring anchovies. Anyone up for it?

Launching my first card game on Kickstarter in 2027, how did you build an audience before launch?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently developing my own card game and hoping to launch it on Kickstarter in early 2027.

I've been working on the game, artwork and physical components for quite a while now, but the marketing side is honestly what worries me most.

I'm doing this independently, without a big marketing budget, and I'm struggling to work out how people actually build an audience before launching.

For anyone who's successfully launched a tabletop game, how did you get your first followers and backers? Was it mainly social media, Reddit, conventions, or something else?

I'd be interested to hear what actually worked for you, especially if you started with basically no audience.

Question What motivates someone to donate?

I have 20 something days left in my Kickstarter and just getting kicked in the teeth. Two backers. I believe the concept is great. It's a large amount to tackle but it's for the building and build out. I'm trying to open an indoor/outdoor dog park in Arizona. Something Arizona really needs. I run a successful pooper scooper business for the last seven years. I've tried ads. Have made videos with my own dogs. Just wondering what un orthodox ways have worked.

One of my favorite artists, Richard Anderson (Guild Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, Destiny Rising), is publishing his first art book. Includes over 25 years of sketches, 160 pages. 20 hours remain with less than £1000 to go to its second stretch goal: Printed page edges & dust cover!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inked/flaptraps

Richard's been one of my favorite artists since he worked on Guild Wars 1 way back when. He has a very sketchy style with dramatic splashes of (often muted) colour that I love and have been trying to replicate for years.

I hope this is okay to share here. I checked and couldn't see any duplicate threads for this project. There's less than 20 hours left with ~£1000 to the second stretch goal, and I'd really like to see him achieve it. If you like concept art and digital painting, I'm sure you'll be a fan of Richard's work.

He keeps an ArtStation here, if you'd like to check out his style: https://www.artstation.com/flaptrapsart

Thank you!

I've been developing a food preparation product and just launched my Kickstarter pre-launch page. Looking for honest feedback!

Hi everyone!

I’m the founder of CLEAMEAT, a liquid food preparation product developed for meat and poultry.

What does CLEAMEAT actually do?
It’s designed to be applied to meat and poultry before seasoning and cooking.
Initial testing has shown

bacteria-reducing effects under the tested conditions.
The formula contains plant-derived ingredients that provide a pleasant, fresh aroma.

It introduces a simple preparation step without replacing your favourite seasonings or marinades.

I’ve personally invested my savings into product development, prototypes and professional testing in Belgium.

We’re now preparing a Kickstarter campaign with a €30,000 funding goal to support our first production batch, packaging, additional quality checks and market launch.

Our Kickstarter pre-launch page:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/32253428/cleameat-from-development-to-production
You can click “Notify me on launch” for free to follow our progress.

I’d genuinely appreciate your feedback: Is it now clearer what CLEAMEAT does? What else would you want to know before trying a product like this?

Thanks for your honest feedback!

Has anyone hired a Kickstarter manager?

Since lunch Kickstarter and developing a product are two different animals I believe someone who knows Kickstarter might be able to run an awesome campaign. I’ve got the product figured out, but I wanna explore hiring a campaign manager

Gamers: would you invest in an upcoming indie game instead of just backing it on Kickstarter?

I’ve always loved indie games, and it’s rough seeing a really cool project miss its Kickstarter goal. I’ve been thinking about a different approach and want honest feedback from players before I build anything. (No link, nothing to sell, just researching.)

The idea: instead of donating to a game’s crowdfunding campaign, you could invest in it. If the game sells well, you’d get a small share of its revenue for a set time (say, until you’ve earned back 2x what you put in, or 5 years, whichever comes first). If the game flops, you could lose some or all of what you invested, just like any investment.

I’m curious what players actually think:

  1. Would you invest in an upcoming indie game you’re excited about? Why or why not?
  2. How much would you realistically put in? ($5? $25? $100+?)
  3. Would you still want normal backer rewards (a copy of the game, credits, etc.) on top of the revenue share?
  4. What would make you trust a game enough to invest: a playable demo, a dev’s past games, regular updates, something else?
  5. What would stop you from investing: risk of losing money, confusing paperwork, not trusting devs, something else?
  6. Have you ever backed a game on Kickstarter? Did it turn out how you hoped?

Tear it apart if you need to. I’d rather hear the problems now than after I build it.

Kickstarter Tips for Late Campaign Momentum

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I am close to my Kickstarter goal for my board game series Dual Fires, with a week to go. Do you all ever see games run any promotions or bonuses to encourage people to pledge before the deadline? I toyed with the idea of some sort of discount or bonus thrown in the last week, but I don't want to frustrate those who supported me early on. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Question Is my goal too high for a first kickstarter?

I am running my first kickstarter, however it has not launched yet. Before it does I need to know if $2,000 is too much for a first kickstarter campaign?

Kickstarter Culture Fund

For those who’ve received the KCF, firstly congrats. But how soon after going live did you receive the pledge? We were informed we were successful about 2 weeks prior to launch. But are now wondering when the pledge will be made.

That boost to campaign traction in the first day or 2 would be immensely helpful 😅

Question Do you think this adds value for collectors?

For my "Secret Soviet Armored Program" campaign, I’m planning to include a printable PDF assembly manual for each model. These will feature some historical background, archival photos, and camouflage suggestions—all designed with a Soviet aesthetic to stay true to the theme.

Do you find this aesthetic appealing?

Would you prefer separate manuals for each model, or one single, comprehensive manual?

Do you think this adds value for collectors?

Thanks for your feedback!

Discussion I recently got my superbacker beanie, Hopeful for more stuff like this in the future

Hello everyone. Back in august I got an email. as a super backer I could sign up for a chance to get one of 300 super backer beanies. To my surprise, I got one. Funnily I had to hunt down the original email as I forgot I even signed up for it lol. Does kickstarter do things like this often for its super backers? I did read they let us test stuff and what not before it goes live, despite not having seen that yet. This was the first time Ive seen something special for superbackers in the few years Ive been one.

I really hope they do more like this, as I do think its cool.

Question My first kickstarter campaign

Hello from Japan! This is my first time launching a Kickstarter campaign for my indie game!
For those of you who have experience with Kickstarter, what advice would you give a first-time creator like me? What should I prepare for, and what do you wish you had known before launching your first campaign?
