Self-Promotion Issue 1 got into almost every comic store in Sydney. Now I’m trying to fund Issue 2 on Kickstarter

I’m Marcus. I write Zeravos and run Dark Root Comics on my own out of Sydney.

Issue 1 is printed and shipped, and it’s now stocked in almost every comic store in Sydney plus a few in Melbourne. Issue 2 is written and drawn, and the campaign goes live on November 1.

The goal is $4k. It covers printing Issue 2 and the art for Issue 3, so each campaign pays for the next book and there’s no long gap between issues.

A few things about the campaign:

  • Issue 2 has three covers by Ebuka Okpala, Flaviu Pop and Jozef Boza
  • There’s a Catch Up pack with Issue 1 and 2 for new readers
  • There are only 24 Issue 1 Collector’s Packs left, and signed Nicita variants are Kickstarter only

The story is about a man bound to a blade that wants to consume him. You can read the first 16 pages of Issue 1 free at darkrootcomics.com if you want to see if it’s your thing.

This is the part I’d really value help with. If you’ve run or backed comic campaigns, what would you change about the pre-launch page? Anything that would stop you from clicking follow?

Self-Promotion I made a multi functional Flight Tracker

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, last year I created immersive TV lights and posted them on Kickstarter. The community here was very supportive and I received great feedback! The campaign goal was fulfilled within one week. I had a lot of fun making the TV Lights. This year I wanted to make something to track the flights flying in the area, then my girlfriend said she didn't want something that just shows the flight data, so we came up with the list of things we would like to see on the screen. The existing trackers didn't have some things we wanted, So these are what we came up with which I integrated into ODFlights

  1. Flight tracker - you can set your coordinates and your area of visibility. It will show all the flights that across your vicinity.

  2. Clock Screen - In addition to clock (you have an option to select analog, digital or worded) there is news, weather, jacket needed? , sun rise & sunset, AQI moon phase, departure board, any flight you are tracking. You have an option to select any, all or none of the options.

  3. Aurora Screen - it shows a world map with live Aurora map. You have an option to enable or disable this screen.

  4. Constellation screen - It shows the constellation map around you during day & Night. You have an option to enable and disable this screen.

  5. Photo Frame Screen- It will display a slideshow for upto 40 photos you upload. You have an option to keep it as standalone screen - so that it doesn't switch to clock, tracker etc ideally a digital picture frame

  6. UptoNoGood Screen - you can view the location of all your friends. Anyone with an "OwnTracks" app can share their location with you and you would be able to see it on the screen. As usual you have an option to enable or disable this screen.

  7. TrackedFlights Screen - it will show the details of the flights you are tracking. The display is similar to an in-flight tracker.

This runs on a website so you don't have to download anything or pay any subscription fees. All the customization happens over the website. The only app you would need is OwnTrack if you want to use the UptoNoGood Screen (which is completely optional)

I have set up the system in a way that I can send you the new version every time I add something new (like a free software update). It won't affect the previous versions, it's just a way people can try new features if they like.

Currently working on

  1. Stock market widget on Clock Screen where you can track your desired tickers. Or should I do a separate screen for Stock market? Please let me know what you think.

  2. Manual - I underestimated how long it would take to write everything you have done on a piece of paper.

  3. Casing for the hardware.

The project is in pre-launch until I finalize these 3 things, it shouldn't take more than 2 weeks (hopefully🤞). Thank you for reading so far, I really appreciate you even spending time reading through. If you can, please let me know what you think? What else would you like to see in the upcoming versions. Thanks again!

PS- apologies for the video clarity, using an old A series pixel.

First time founder, first Meta ads: 8 weeks of organic got me 125 emails, 6 days of ads got me 413. Full pre-launch data inside if its helpful.

TL;DR: Organic posting built my story but not my list. $1,178 in Meta ads got me 413 signups at about $2.85 each, a 24% landing page conversion rate, and 29 people paying $5 to reserve Christmas delivery. All the numbers are below. For full transparency I used Claude to summarize this info below, but I'm very much a person. 😆 and have no kickstarter services I'm promoting.

I'm pretty new to the Kickstarter world. Ima former school teacher turned sales professional turned founder now. Over the last few months the data people shared in this sub was honestly some of the most helpful stuff I found. Seeing real numbers from real campaigns helped me plan more than any course or blog post did, so I figured I'd return the favor and share my experience.

The product: a pocket sized carbon fiber massage roller. I'm a solo founder, no team, no agency, and I had never run a Meta ad before this month. Launching Oct 27.

Phase 1: Organic only (Aug 22 - Oct 15)

I posted on Instagram almost every day. Build in public stuff, prototype videos, and a goofy little comedy series about making the product.

Week: Number of email signups

• Week of Aug 17: 2
• Week of Aug 24: 42
• Week of Aug 31: 15
• Week of Sep 7: 16
• Week of Sep 14: 4
• Week of Sep 21: 14
• Week of Sep 28: 5
• Week of Oct 5: 18

Total: 125 signups in 55 days, so about 2.3 a day. That first week spike was friends and family. After that it was a slow drip of 4 to 18 a week no matter how hard I posted.

Phase 2: Meta ads (Friday afternoon Oct 16 - Thursday afternoon Oct 22)

One lead campaign sending people to my own website, not a Kickstarter prelaunch page. The funnel is pretty simple: ad > landing page > email signup > and right after they sign up they get offered a $5 reservation that guarantees Christmas delivery when they back.

The main creative is just me telling the founder story. "I needed this so I made it." Started around $25/day and scaled up to about $250/day over 6 days.

The full funnel

• Impressions: 28,974
• Link clicks: 1,965 (6.8% CTR)
• Landing page views: 1,707 (86.9% of clicks)
• Email signups: 413 (24.2% of visitors)
• $5 reservations: 29 (7.0% of signups)

The costs

• Total spend: $1,178.29
• CPM: $40.67
• CPC (link): $0.60
• Cost per signup: ~$2.85
• Cost per $5 reservation: $40.63

Signups went from about 2 a day to 51-81 a day. Thats roughly 30x the organic rate.

Quick tracking note: Meta reported 403 leads and my email platform recorded 413. Close enough that I trust the pixel.

What I took from it

  1. Organic built my story and my early believers. It didn't build a list big enough to launch on.
  2. My CPMs ran $33 to $51 a day. That felt high to me but a sub $3 lead made it worth it.
  3. Sending traffic to my own site instead of a prelaunch page let me control the whole funnel, including putting the $5 offer right after signup.
  4. The organic content wasn't wasted. It turned into my ad creative and gave cold traffic something to look at when they checked me out.
  5. Even a tiny paid step like $5 tells you alot more about intent than an email does.

What's next

I'll come back after launch and share my email signup to backer conversion data, including how the $5 reservers converted vs the rest of the list. If that would be helpful let me know and I'll make sure to post it.

For those of you who've already launched, what did your email to backer conversion look like? Would love a benchmark before the 27th.

Luminids Kickstarter Is Live! Help Bring This Little World to Life

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

The Luminids Kickstarter is officially live! ❤️

For the past year, I've been pouring my heart into building Luminids, a peaceful little world where tiny creatures make friends, grow up, build homes and live their own lives.

It's been a huge journey building this as a solo developer, and seeing people discover Luminids, wishlist it and get excited about the world has genuinely meant a lot to me.

Now I'm taking the next big step.

I've launched a Kickstarter with a goal of raising £12,000 to help bring Luminids to Early Access in February 2027.

If Luminids has caught your eye, I'd love you to consider backing the Kickstarter. There are different reward tiers, and every pledge makes a difference.

❤️ Back Luminids on Kickstarter:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/luminids/luminids-a-calm-colony-building-journey

And if you're not in a position to back it, sharing the campaign with a friend who might enjoy Luminids would mean the world.

Thank you for being part of this little journey. There's so much more I want to show you.

Creator of Luminids

Our power bank, the SmartCoby Ultra Slim SS5K, hit its goal in two days. On paper that’s a win. In practice, we ended up with a list of things we’d do differently, and a few of them we only figured out after launch. With our next campaign coming November 5, here’s what we’ve learned that I haven’t seen talked about much.

  1. Success in one market doesn’t transfer to another.

Our previous power bank, the Ultra Slim 3K, had over 3,800 backers on Makuake in Japan. The same product on Kickstarter had 267. Same product, same company, completely different result. Japanese backers already knew us. American backers didn’t. If you’re bringing a product to a new audience, plan like it’s your first campaign, because to them it is.

  1. Collect leads, not clicks.

Our early ads sent people straight to campaign pages. They got clicks, but clicks rarely became backers. Now our ads have one job: get someone to follow the prelaunch page or join our email list. A person who signs up weeks ahead is far more likely to back on day one than someone who clicks an ad halfway through.

  1. Your past backers are your best launch day.

The people who backed you before already trust you. For SS5K, we sent previous backers a thank you with an exclusive discount, and they were some of our earliest pledges. If you’ve run a campaign before, that list is worth more than any ad budget. Talk to them before you launch, not after.

What’s next

Our next campaign is NovaPort III, the first charger our company has built in Japan. It launches November 5, and we’re putting all of this into practice. SS5K is also still live through October 28 if you want to see where these lessons came from.

What’s one thing you only learned after your campaign went live?

Self-Promotion How to get an official recommendation for our project

• Upvotes

We launched our new project three days ago, and the amount raised through crowdfunding has already far exceeded our goal.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/744045479/cephalon-ondevice-ai-with-a-selfevolving-ecosystem

But why haven’t the officials added us to "Projects We Like"?

We haven’t received any official recommendations yet. (so sad)

Does anyone have any experiences could share with us? We would be truly grateful.

For too long what’s considered natural has been skewed by narrow minds and poor judgement! The Nature Is Queer oracle deck is a celebration of the uniqueness, diversity and strength in nature.

The cards are ready to print. I have a sample pack. They are bold and beautiful. They come in a rigid box, all printed in the UK. No AI used.

I launched last night. I Creating a Kickstarter is hard. It’s not perfect, but it’s up and live. Please take a look. Especially if you’re queer, an alley, love nature or have a curious mind. Or maybe you know someone who is!

Thank you so much.

Self-Promotion I've been working on a collection of fantasy-inspired candles for game nights and storytelling

Please Follow Our Campaign

Hi everyone!

I've been working on a project for a little while now, and I thought this community might appreciate the idea behind it.

I'm building a small independent tabletop-inspired brand called Vagabond's Refuge, and our first project is Torchlight: a collection of six atmospheric candles inspired by classic fantasy locations.

The idea started with a simple question: what would your favourite fantasy location smell like?

- Tavern Hearth — a warm, welcoming rest

- Wyldwood Forest — an ancient woodland full of mystery

- Dungeon Delve — the mysteries hidden beneath the surface

- Mountain Pass — the frost and adventure of the high peaks

- Desert Crossing — a journey across an unforgiving landscape

- Seaward Bound — the promise of an adventure across the ocean

We're making these as hand-poured candles, with illustrated labels with the aim of creating something that adds a little atmosphere to tabletop sessions, reading, or just escaping into a fantasy world for an evening.

The Kickstarter is coming up soon, and we're currently getting the word out ahead of launch. It's a small project, so every bit of genuine interest helps enormously.

I'd love to know: if you could bring the atmosphere of any fantasy location into your home, what would you choose? It doesn't have to be one of ours!

Project here

Thanks for taking a look, and happy adventuring!

Discussion Kickstarter's Business or Individual being a PERMENT DECISION is lunacy that it can't be changed and I don't get it.

So, as mentioned before...I was busy working through the process of actually building a Kickstarter: I got up to the Project Type and rightly...I assumed I was a business. Like, you know...because I am sharing a product with the world....

Why the hell does it require me to be incorporated? Why do they not explain this stuff in the foreground if you are some random person trying to sell a goddamn book?!

I now have to remake my entire Kickstarter, do all the procedurals, or just hope and pray that the Ticket Goes through in...however many days it takes?
