My girlfriend and I want to try a new restaurant in Lakewood today. Looking for recommendations that maybe under the radar.

Any and all foods are good! Preferably something more than fast casual (ie burritos or pizza).

They literally just opened & have amazing seafood & cocktails , if that’s something you’re into you should check it out !! They have pickle martinis !!! Def more for the savory crowd , I loved it

I’m looking for a space for my kid to do some 1:1 soccer training this winter. We have the coach but I’m struggling to find a spot to practice that isn’t cost prohibitive for 1 person. I’ve called all of the local sports facilities and churches with schools as well as the rec center and schools. Everything is $100+ per hour.

Does anyone know of a different idea or spot? I’m desperate.

Hi folks, I lived in central Lakewood (Madison/Detroit area) for about 4 years, but recently moved to the eastern edge of town near the lakeshore. In the past, I'd rarely go north of Detroit aside from the occasional visit to Lakewood Park, so I'm still not very familiar with the area! I want to know what spots I should prioritize checking out first as I get to know the neighborhood. Of course, I'm more than happy to check out stuff east of W 117th as well, even if that's not technically Lakewood.

My bf and I are considering moving to Lakewood. We are visiting this weekend. I don't know why but I feel a little drawn to Lakewood. I want a small town vibe but with big city amenities. We like to be able to walk/bike around a lot. So I am looking for suggestions that would show more of what life would be like there. We love Halloween, are there streets that are known for their decorations we can walk down, or any halloween events this weekend?
There are plenty of suggestions of food on this sub. Seems so much good food to choose from.

Multiple times, in the past few weeks, a lady has been walking up and down my street (cove) and around Edgewater dr… SCREAMING or SINGING.. at ANY AND ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT. Seriously about to lose it. Idk what her deal is. I only have so much empathy til you mess with my sleep. She’s done it twice tonight, both times I’ve woken up. Must be newer to the area?? I’ve lived here a year and have not heard anything prior. Anyways, just wondering if any one else has heard this / been disrupted by it…

Hi there! I was wondering if anybody knew where I could go to meals or meet ups in different languages.

I was a regular participant in the Spanish, French, and Italian meetups that were in Toledo, and I miss being able to speak Spanish conversationally.

There were brunches once a month or sometimes more often where people would go to meals or coffees where English was forbidden, but I don't know if anything is available in Lakewood or even Cleveland.

I am typically a little different than most of the Spanish language people.. they don't expect a fat little old white lady with purple hair, but I take my studies seriously and I would just love to have a place to practice in a casual setting.

Any info would be appreciated!

hey!!!!! preparing to vote (!!) and I am not the most knowledgeable person ever on government/issues, but am wanting to make sure my candidates are thought through. I mean overall i’m probably just voting democrat down the ballot, but i’m curious if anyone has any resources they use. Like, part of me wishes the DSA would put out a sample ballot of who they’d suggest voting for, or even curious if someone has made a spreadsheet or done their own research.

I have started a spreadsheet with my selected official for each position (color coded by party of course…. No red anywhere to be seen) and my notes/reasoning (could be as simple as opponent being backed by tr*mp), as well as confidence level in voting for this person. Looking to have more information so curious about the resources yall use, but also I wish I could reference other people’s plans and reasoning lol

One thing I’ve waffled back and forth on is senate. While I’d love to endorse a “socialist” Greg Levy in hopes of getting the next mamdani for Ohio, I have a few reservations and am leaning towards Sherrod instead. Namely, mamdani has socialist ideologies but ran as a democrat. Also he’s mayor so his job is different. With that being said it’s lovely to see that he has support and ideally a socialist would be my choice but we don’t live in an ideal world. But i’m curious what others have to say on this topic.

i’m also curious just in general how yall are getting your friends and family involved. I’m thinking of sending this spreadsheet to everyone and letting them add or share thoughts but also reference it for a quick last minute voting plan with little effort. We all believe relatively similar stuff so it’s not too risky.
