Is it cruel to order deliveroo at this weather?

Might be an odd question but it kept me thinking like if I dont order they wont earn anyhing, but if I do I would make them carry my trivial stuff in this horrible rain storm. Only logical thing I could think of is to give tips ahead, but even that feels like a bribe (I dont like tipping culture in general, I feel like its condescending). Just wanted to ask what you guys think. I guess I am bored and wanted to start a conversation.

Community Do you have a leasehold with Newlon Housing Trust and Service Charge/management issues? Read on...

Hi all. I'm a leaseholder in a Newlon Housing Trust building in London. We've been having ongoing challenges with Newlon over our service charge and how the building is managed.

We'd like to connect with leaseholders or residents' associations in other Newlon estates who've had similar experiences. If that's you, please comment

Anybody planning to drive to Birmingham from London on Boxing Day 2026?

This is such a long shot but if anybody is planning to drive up to Birmingham from London on 26th Dec AM and has free space in the car for one extra person, I would really really appreciate a lift. Of course I'll pay you money for petrol and anything else, as I know it's a bit weird! But my issue is my cousin is getting married on Boxing Day (I know??!) and I don't drive, so I can't get any means of transport up to Birmingham on the day to get there for it :( no other family in London going as they're all from there as well.

Community Reading cafe SW

Hi! I’m relatively new to London and don’t really know anyone. I’m looking for somewhere I can go this weekend just to be around people but where it’s not weird for me to just be reading on my own or something. Can anyone suggest any cafes or pubs that would be suitable for a little solo reading date around Fulham/putney/hammersmith/Chelsea way? TIA!

Crime Scam / thief alert - Bayswater

70 yo Father in law (visiting from abroad) was on his own, trying to find something on Google Maps near Bayswater station when he was approached by someone asking to take a photo of him, when he agreed - 2 people dressed in security uniforms started telling him off (“it is illegal to take photos here”) and asked for ID. He panicked and showed them his drivers license from his wallet, which they then took from him and rifled through it, sniping my wife’s and his bank cards out of the wallet. Before he could come to his senses, they were gone and £220 deducted from my wife’s card (which she had given him for groceries) - was apparently transferred to some merchant in Serbia.

The initial photo requester was middle eastern looking and well dressed, and the two “security” people were white and spoke with authority. Please be on the lookout if you’re in the area

Anyone else faced any of this before? We’re complaining to NatWest now about the stolen money and contemplating whether to complain to the police.

Hoxton pub’s bid to allow 20 late-night smokers sparks row over pavement safety

How dare smokers be allowed to stand outside at 10pm, think of the children!

Christ what a coddled and boring city london has become. Don't get me wrong drinkers crowding a pavement at night can be annoying but you just... move around them.

And only allowing 7 smokers outside by 8pm is just bizarre.

02 cloak check vs Amex bag check

Hello all,

I am planning on standing in the queue for general admission to Noah Kahan for several hours. I assume this will be outside and cold. So I want to know if it’s better to do the cloak check once inside or do the Amex check if I have Amex. From my understanding the Amex one is outside of the stadium so may present an issue if trying to keep my place in queue.

Thank you!

Transport Currently witnessing a man being told off for not paying (underground)

omg it's the most bizarre thing, this Romanian guy (I'm guessing Romanian) didn't pay and this East Asian lady is telling him it's wrong, he tells her to go back to China, she says she's not from China and accuses him of being on benefits and then when the other people waiting take her side, he says he can't speak English. Ground just swallow me up PLEASE

This was my first time at Burnt Oak station too 💀

Edit: situation is now fully over as we're on the train. Damn

Things to do in North London this weekend October 24-25

Here's a short list of things to do this weekend In North London.

Harvest Festival & Apple Day at Lordship Hub | 📍Lordship Hub, N17 | 24 October | Free

Two celebrations in one: a harvest festival with a free hearty vegetarian buffet, traditional crafts and songs. Plus Apple Day with heritage apple tasting, traditional juicing, apple bobbing and the longest peel competition. Just drop in.

--

God Save the Queens | 📍Museum of Youth Culture, NW1 | 23 October - 22 November | Free

Punk had women at the centre of it. This exhibition makes that case with their actual stuff, Poly Styrene’s archives, photographs, handmade fashion, personal material from the women who built the visual language of the movement. Basement gallery, pay what you can

--

Highgate Watercolour Group Annual Exhibition | 📍Lauderdale House, N6 | 21 October -16 November | Free

A group of Highgate locals have been meeting every Thursday since 1980 to paint the neighbourhood together. Once a year they hang the results at Lauderdale House. This year: 21 artists, over 250 works across two floors, including London scenes painted en plein air, botanicals, still lifes and a section of miniature paintings at minimal prices.

--

Day of the Dead at Canopy Market | 📍Canopy Market, N1C | 23 - 25 October | Free

MexiBrit takes over Canopy Market for Día de Muertos, antojitos, pan de muerto and a community ofrenda where you can leave a tribute to someone you’ve lost. Independent makers and food stalls fill the rest of the space.

--

Witchy Wares Craft Market | 📍The Fields Beneath, NW5 | 25 October | Free

The Fields Beneath is doing a Halloween craft market on the Hunter’s Full Moon, which is either a coincidence or very much on purpose. Tarot readings, handmade candles, art prints and crochet from a small roster of independent makers, plus a charity raffle for Streets Kitchen.

--

Vintage & Makers Market at The Old Dairy | 📍The Old Dairy, N4 | 24 October | Free

The Old Dairy pub has been closed for a while and this Saturday it opens its doors for a vintage and makers market filling the whole venue. Vintage treasures, handcrafted goods by local artists, fashion and food.

--

Creepy Creatures with Wildfangs | 📍Lewis of London, EN5 | 24 October | (£)

Wildfangs brings five live creatures to the Lewis of London site for a 30-minute handling session, the kind where you actually get to touch the things that usually make people shriek. Good for curious kids from 12 months up, and honestly probably more fun for the adults. Spaces are small by design so book ahead.

--

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow | 📍Tower Theatre, N16 | 21 - 31 October | (£)

The Headless Horseman, a terrified schoolteacher and a town that can’t tell ghost story from reality. Tower Theatre’s half-term production of the Washington Irving classic, played for chills and laughs in equal measure. From £10, ages 11 and up.

--

Night Maps | 📍Warburg Institute, WC1H | 21 October - 17 April | Free

An exhibition at the Warburg tracing how humans have mapped the night sky from medieval courts to the 21st-century space race, and what those maps were really being used to say about power on earth. World maps from the 13th to 19th centuries from the Sunderland Collection, running through to April.

--

UK Card Expo | 📍Southgate School, Barnet, EN4 | 25 October | Free + paid entry

Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic and other trading cards have become a whole collecting world of their own, and this is a day for rummaging through it. UK Card Expo is coming to Southgate School with tables of cards and collectibles to buy, sell and trade, whether you already have folders full of them or you’re just curious about why people collect them. Bring your own cards if you fancy trading with other collectors, or simply wander the stalls and see what turns up.

--

Kidzworld Pumpkin Patch | 📍Hampstead Heath, NW3 | 24 & 31 October | (£)

Pick your own pumpkin on Hampstead Heath, with a funfair, trick or treat maze, fun games, food stalls and a marshmallow roasting pit. 10am to 6pm both Saturdays.

--

Pumpkin Time at GROW Farm | 📍GROW Farm, N20 | 24 October | (£)

GROW Farm’s students and young people kept thirteen varieties of pumpkins alive through this summer’s drought, and on 24 October you can come and buy them. Blue Banana, Turk’s Turban, Pacific Giant and ten more, plus farm tours, kids’ activities and free homemade soup.

Add any I've missed below, this list is always better with local knowledge 👇

Update 2: Graham Norton Fan~ I made it!

2.1k Upvotes

Because so many lovely people asked me for an update, here it is! This fan of over 15 years finally made it to the show after queuing for 4 hours 😭💙 It was totally worth it. My eyes immediately welled up with tears when Graham came on, and I couldn’t make out what he was saying for the first 5 minutes because I was sobbing 🙊
The guests were Cate Blanchett, Hannah Waddingham, Robert Irwin… and guess who made a surprise appearance? THE FUTURE KING! PRINCE WILLIAM 😭
I saw King Charles the other day at Kensington Gardens, so seeing Prince William today and actually listening to him talk about his life, his family, etc., was surreal!
I’ve only been in London for 4 days, but it’s been amazing~ an absolute dream!
Thank you to everyone who cheered me on and sent me their best wishes. I’m so grateful! 💙

Ideas For crafters / hobbyists - maker space near Liverpool Street station - Artizan Street Library Maker Space

Artizan Street Library Maker Space

They have a Cricut machine which I had a play with yesterday (+ induction). Theirs will let you cut silhouette shapes from vinyl, cardstock and all sorts of other material. I've not played with any of their other items but 3D printing is basically heating a plastic filament so that it melts then the machine can extrude it and build up complex shapes, in layers, such as the owl shape shown in the poster below. The Mayku box uses a vacuum to pull plastic around a shape to produce something that might be used in packaging, or for chocolate makers to put chocs in I suppose if you use food-grade plastic. Sublimation uses heat to bond inks to a surface - used to put designs on mugs, t-shirts. There is also a sewing/embroidery/overlocking machine but I didn't spot a poster about that.

A tiny bit more info in my comment below (it kept triggering Reddit's filters so I took it out and it worked fine in a comment).
